American Idol season seven finalists, Carly Smithson and Kristy Lee Cook recently spoke to TV Guide about being on tour and missing their significant others (Kristy Lee is engaged and Carly is married). Of course, the tour is something most contestants really look forward but there’s not a lot about how difficult it can be to maintain a relationship.
Kristy revealed that there have been some tense “moments” but said that her fiancé is starting figure out that “he needs to be supportive.”
Carly said that “not being able to hang out with him as much is just awful.”
Fortunately, she says that he’s been “amazingly understanding” which, I think, really makes a difference. It’s already tough to be apart but when you are stressing because your loved one is mad or doesn’t understand, it just makes matters worse.
Kristy and Carly might be missing their men (and who wouldn’t?) but at least they are having a great time – Kristy seemed thrilled that even grown men get emotional when she sings “God Bless the USA” and Carly loves performing the Heart classic “Crazy on You.”
I found it a little interesting at the end of the original article that when asked what they would do with their day off, Kristy said she would go ride horses but Carly said she would hang out with her husband and take a nap. Hmmm…
