Kung Fu Panda wins big at the Annie Awards

Friday’s Annie Awards, an award ceremony that celebrates the best of the animation industry, honored Kung Fu Panda with TEN awards, including Best Feature, Best Directing, and Best Animated Effects.

It was a bit of a shock because with Wall-E having won so many of the recent animation awards at other ceremonies, no one expected anything else to win.

Congratulations to Kung Fu Panda for sweeping the Annies!

Passerby, I agree completely! Although I saw and liked Kung Fu Panda, I have to be honest and say that I liked Wall-E better. I have a very romantic soul and a soft heart, so the Wall-E storyline practically made me melt!

chopin, don’t worry, you aren’t the only one who gets stuck in moderation a lot! I know poor Ligaya used to have her commets moderated almost all the time!

I personally am one of those shocked person. I loved Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E.

But when it comes down to the animation specification, story line and voice actors put aside, Wall-E has definitely won over Kung Fu Panda. The sound effects in Wall-E are amazing. And I personally think that the two oscars for sound mixing and editing should go to Wall-E

When it comes down to acting, Kung Fu Panda has got Wall-E beat because well there wasn’t much talking in the Wall-E.

Wall-E’s story line however is much deeper than Kung Fu Panda. Kung Fu Panda is the film where you have fun and enjoy that most children would prefer out of the two. Wall-E is different from the typical Pixar movie and story line is way deeper. Some parts of Wall-E really melt your heart. And its very cute.

I would be absolutely shocked to see Wall-E lose the oscar for best animation.

Thx Kim for that post of interview with Angie on GMA. I like how she said she plays post office and restaurant with the kiddos!

    Oh thank you Sherry.
My first name was chopinasi and now I’m chopin… I seldom post my comments here but you know I find my time to read your site and I’m happy that there are intelligent fans who really post wonderful comments and articles about these gorgeous couple. God bless you and the whole JP fans around the world.

chopin – I don’t personally hold your comments, it’s the software that runs the site that flags certain comments to be moderated based on certain key words, multiple or potentially suspicious links, etc. At that point I have to go and manually read through each moderated comment and either delete it if it’s spam or push it through to the site. Sometimes it takes a little while for me to put comments through because I’m not always at my computer.

    Your comments are posted now.

Dear Sherry, this is not my first time, so why do you still hold my comments?

I haven’t seen Wall-E yet. When I do, I’ll probably like it just as much as I love KFP – for different reasons . . .

I haven’t seen Wall-E yet. When I do, I’ll probably like it just as much as I love KFP – for different reasons, just as I liked Brokeback Mountain and Crash equally and differently. I’ve put off seeing Wall-E because after a while, the acclaim started sounding kool-aid-like, and the attitude that it was predestined to win everything, and that all other animated films were vastly and obviously inferior started to put me off.

KFP’s Annie awards really set lots of people off. The thread to the awardsdaily.com post below has 150+ comments – reminds me of some of our heated discussions here. It’s about ¾ anti-KFP AND ¼ pro-KFP. The h8ters say no one they know, including kids, like KFP, it’s only for stupid people, yada yada yada.

    awardsdaily.com:

    YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING

Kung-Fu Panda swept the Annie Awards and Wall-E, a film that holds the record for the most nominated categories for an animated film at the Oscars, goes home empty-handed. Perhaps they did this because of Pixar burn-out but it’s rather self-h8ting I’d say to give a sweep to Kung-Fu Panda after a film like Wall-e has broken new ground with the general population. This is not to discount Kung-Fu Panda for being good, it is good, it just isn’t one of the best. films. of. the. year.

    A travesty.

You have to go look at a pic of AJ when she was little, looks alot like Shi. AJ had the same blond hair the eye shape and the lips, and the same shaped head. In this pic you could almost mistake it for AJ and Shi instead of AJ and her mom.

I’m happy that KFP won. I think KFP is a great movie for children and for adults. I saw it many time, and each time i enjoyed it as much as the children.

I would like to bring over a very interesting post from JJ site. The poster is QueenBee whose reply to the comment made by a certain Ella is very spot on. Her comments is excellent and her explanations can be applied to us. I think what she wrote is what most of us feel & think about those people who question our admiration for Angelina Jolie. So here it goes:

Ella said, “queen Bee…one question for you?
    do you have a life?
    do you know angie?
can you put your hand in fire for her knowing that she is all you say and a good person?
    i guess not”

    QueenBee replied, “DEAR ELLA…
HERE ARE THE ANSWERS YOU SEEK…
    - Yes, I have a life…and my life sometimes consists of following people like ANGELINA who inspires me with her BOLD choices despite the judgements people place on her, her HONESTY despite the firestorm of criticism it evokes from envious and vapid tabloid hounds, and her AMAZING empathy and love that she displays by changing the life of 3 orphans, visiting and highlighting the plight of refugees and soldiers, and LOVING who she wants to LOVE…all the while being confident in who she is as a mother, a daughter, a sister and partner.
    - Do I “KNOW” Angie…..no. But the country didn’t have to ‘know’ Heath Ledger or Paul Newman to have strong feelings of loss regarding their death. There’s nothing wrong with being inspired and enlightened by someone else’s life, and you don’t have to ‘know’ them in order to justify those feelings. Either you are touched by someone’s spirit, or you’re not. THE FACT THAT FANS, POLITICIANS, AND A-LIST CELEBRITIES HAVE CONNECTED WITH ANGIE’S SPIRIT AND WHAT SHE’S DONE IN THE WORLD (whether it’s in movies or in real life) MEANS THAT SHE’S EXEMPLIFIED SOMETHING POSITIVE IN THIS LIFE. ANYONE WASTING TIME ON A THREAD WRITING NASTY THINGS ABOUT SOMEONE THAT DOESN’T INSPIRE THEM, AND CASTIGATING THOSE WHO ARE INSPIRED BY SUCH AN INDIVIDUAL IS PRETTY PATHETIC, AND IS MORE INDICATIVE OF SOMEONE WHO DOESNT HAVE A LIFE THEMSELVES.
    - You’re third question illegible and quite ridiculous. I’m not required to ‘place my hand in fire’ for someone that inspires me…..(How old are you anyway?)….All I am required to do is to use that inspiration to hopefully inspire others, and do positive things in the world. BOTH ANGIE AND BRAD HAVE OPENED MY EYES TO ADOPTION AND HURRICANE KATRINA VICTIMS, AND THE PLIGHT OF REFUGEES ALL AROUND THE WORLD. I hope to treat people as I would like to be treated, and demonizing a celebrity for adopting children from around the world and having children with the man she loves doesn’t garner anything positive in my life. BEING A NEGATIVE HATEFUL POSTER ON A BLOG WOULD JUST INDICATE SOMETHING LACKING IN MY OWN LIFE AND CHARACTER, perhaps due to some shortcoming in my own upbringing….PERHAPS YOU SHOULD MEDITATE YOUR OWN MOTIVATIONS ON WHY MY BEING INSPIRED BY ANGELINA BOTHERS YOU SO MUCH….AND WHY YOU APPEAR TO BE SO JUDGEMENTAL AND HATEFUL…
… As BENJAMIN BUTTON SAID, “….YOU CAN BE MAD….YOU CAN CURSE THE WIND…..BUT IN THE END…..YOU HAVE TO LET GO…”
…Here’s me letting go of your negativity…….and placing it back right where it belongs……IN YOUR OWN HEART where it originated.
    hugs and kisses.
    bye!”

Congratulations to KFP! It´s a great movie and deserved to win. Hope it´ll do well in the Oscars too. Although some consider it as a chidren´s movie it´s not. It has so much to give for us adults too. Saw it twice at the movies and have already watched it many times on DVD at home. Great movie, great voice casting!

http://cosmetic-makeovers.com/files/posts/31703_bra1_438lo.jpg (thanks joliepittfanatic) – this pic SOoooo looks like Shiloh indeed !! I’m very happy KFP has won further awards, even though I havent seen it yet (I need to visit my neice & nephew).
Wow, Angie’s legs do go on ‘forever’; I am soooo envious of her for that.

Nope, you would not see them leaving Narita airport. It’s when you enter the country, you would have to pass through certain check points. Though Brad/Angie did not have to pass through normal check points like the rest of us, they have to pass through certain areas. That’s why they were visible to the public. When they leave the country, they can be escorted dirctly to their plane by the airport security. Most countries are concerned about inbound traffic, not outbound traffic.
