Friday’s Annie Awards, an award ceremony that celebrates the best of the animation industry, honored Kung Fu Panda with TEN awards, including Best Feature, Best Directing, and Best Animated Effects.
It was a bit of a shock because with Wall-E having won so many of the recent animation awards at other ceremonies, no one expected anything else to win.
Congratulations to Kung Fu Panda for sweeping the Annies!

ellie, I, too, am wondering whether or not will see another picture of them at Narita airport. Considering they have to walk through the airport there, I would think it would be impossible for us NOT to see a picture of them leaving Japan. However, I supppose it’s possible that they might fly out at night or something.
Susan G, is this by any chance the picture you saw: http://cosmetic-makeovers.com/files/posts/31703_bra1_438lo.jpg If so, he DOES look like Shi in that pic, but, if you look at Angie’s baby pictures, Shi also resembles her quite a bit!
Great movie! Glad to see it recognized… finally!!!
Ligaya, welcome back. I miss your posts too. Hope everything is fine with you.
Thanks for this great news of KFP winning. My whole family loves this movie and my son is still watching it on DVD from time to time. It is not only funny but it also has good lessons in it. It was a big hit in Vietnam and China.
I love this picture of Angie as she looks stunning. I wish she would show her legs more often.
Sorry to go off subject, but I was just looking at a baby picture of Brad on TMZ.com. Shiloh is a dead ringer for her papa. My computer skills are limited so didn’t cut and paste
Hi ligaya, I miss your imput for a while now hope you are back for good. It’s a lot fun reading all the post and the diffrences of opinons it makes for a very interesting site. Good for KFP I love the movie my kids love it too even more the wall-E, the same thing should happen at the oscar, but only wishful thinking.

Reactions:
Indiewire: KFP “shockingly winning every feature-related category at the expense of heavy favorite “WALL-E.” “Panda” *even managed additional wins* for its videogame and “Secrets of the Furious Five,” a short film made for the film’s DVD release.
Thehollywoodreporter/riskybusinessblog:
There was talk that Wall-E could have and should have been nominated for Oscar’s best picture. Yet the industry-heavy Annies, given by animation group ASIFA-Hollywood to the best animated movies of the year, had a different point-of-view at their own awards.
“Kung Fu Panda” landed fifteen statues (best feature, best directing and best animated effects among them) when the Annies were given out Friday night, while Wall-E came away with none.
***Lots of theories on the Wall-E shutout; we’ll repeat them in no particular order. They include a) hard-core animators appreciate the technical derring-do on Kung Fu Panda more than we realize b) a backlash to the Wall-E love from critics and c) DreamWorks Animation staged a membership drive that stacked the group with DWA-affiliated voters.***
We won’t endorse any of the theories — each has its logic — but animation experts are buzzing. A movie that took animation storytelling to new heights and levels of subtlety, say critics of the awards, was jobbed by a film that admirably but **routinely** told a story of another lovable cartoon animal.
Variety: Annies Snub Wall-E – In a surprise turn at the International Animated Film Society Awards (Annies), DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda won the top prizes. Not, in other words, “WALL•E. This comes as a shock to those of us who just assume that Pixar’s Wall-E is the frontrunner for the animation Oscar.
i hope it’ll do well on the oscars!
congratulation KFP….what a nice surprise. I hope they win something at the Oscars. They probably relaxing for a while and should be heading home soon. We just have to wait for another nice pictures of the family at Narita airport. If not, I was so thrill and still admiring all the pictures can’t get enought of it. Hello to all
Congrats for the award, the movie deserved it. She is so beautiful and yes she has a killer body.
Congratulations to KFP.
That pic of Angie is stunning. Those legs go on for ever.
Yes, this is a surprise. Maybe now it will do well at the Oscars.
