Lauren Graham Develops ABC Comedy

Lauren Graham All My SonsAfter hinting in October that she was developing a new tv show, it’s now official that Lauren Graham will return to tv on a new comedy on ABC.

ABC has committed to produce a new half-hour comedy series starring Lauren Graham. In the series, Lauren will play a self-help guru who teaches women how to live lives without stress. Unfortunately, when her boyfriend dumps her, she has trouble living her own mantra.

The new series will bring in writer / executive producer Alex Herschlag, from Will & Grace, which is a great start. If anyone can whip up an effective comedy for Lauren, he’d be one of them. Others working on the comedy include Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Mitch Hurwitz, and Hagada Hey. Lauren Graham will be a producer on the new series.

Lauren Graham has worked with ABC before, way back in the day (1996) for Townies. She’ll be the second Gilmore Girls actress to move over to ABC, Melissa McCarthy being the first for Samantha Who?.

This is really great news and can’t wait to see it. I am not going to get my hopes up until I actually see they are actually taping it,though. We have been knocked down before. I just hope that it will be able to live up to Gilmore Girls. Not that it will be anything like it, but GG has set the bar really high. I love anything that Lauren does and I really don’t compare anything new of hers to anything that she has already done because it is all different. I am excited and I hope that it does happen. If it is done for the fall ‘09 season, that will mean her run in Guys and Dolls on broadway won’t be a long one because they will have to start taping the show around June or July. *keeping fingers crossed*

That’s the most exciting news ever, because I’m a huge GG fan and also a big Arrested Development fan, and Mitch Hurwitz is the creator of that show. This is going to be a great show, for sure! Arrested Development was brilliantly funny, and LG is a great comic actress!

It will be great to see Lauren, again!!! :-)
And………….when they are looking at who to cast as her new love interest maybe they will consider Jeffrey Dean Morgan. That would be awesome!!!

OMG I am so happy for her!!!!!!! I am most likely going to see on Broadway in Guys and Dolls next year and I’m seriously counting down the days till its opening!!!!!!!
I wish her all the best in the world!!!!!!!

YAY!! She deserves the lead role (or co-lead role). I like her movies, but she always plays the lead character’s wife or girlfriend. On tv, she’s the star (or one of them). I’m very excited. I sure hope the pilot gets picked up.

I hope the writers do a good job. With a good script, Lauren Graham can do wonders!

Yay! How exciting! They’ll have to have a pilot ready at least by upfronts in May if it’s supposed to begin in fall ‘09, I reckon. I’ll definitely tune in!

I really hope this will be some good stuff, with plenty of lines and great acting because LG is a highly talented actress.

Though it will be hard not to think of Lorelai I’m glad to see LG back on TV.
I can’t say the plot sounds very exciting but since LG nails everything she does I’ll give it a go (if, of course, it really happens).

What about a GG TV movie now?! If LG is okay for being back on TV I’m sure she won’t have anything against a GG reunion. Come on guys!

True Beauty, and before that: Bewitch, Growing Pains, Moonlighting, MacGyver, Who’s The Boss, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, was and is ABC, and in ABC.
I can’t develop all what I think here, for I may be wrong, but just compare those shows with Bones broadcasted by Fox. I think in bone the relationship between men and women are very well balanced. I loved the show MacGyver. But the part of women in it was almost as inexistent as in the A Team I also loved. Ugly Betty is not bad, but what is the show about? Women prettily dressed and decorated for men? Bewitched was very funny! But under the pretext of witchcraft, wasn’t it the struggle between men and women? The master allowing his servant the right to do or not to do some things?
My point is: Will Lauren Graham be totally free to develop her ideas there, or is her show doomed to have the same result as The Return of Jezebel James? For, the idea is very good, exploring the inner soul of women, why they act in a way or the other? What happen when something suddenly disrupts all certainties? Yet, what is the place of women in ABC? That the question? Otherwise: Long live to the show, and I wish Lauren Graham to be really successful, she’s a so good actress, that perhaps the public will give her a fair chance.

    Hi-

Good to see LG get a shot at acting in as well as developing and producing another show. Since it is only a half hour, maybe it won’t be quite the exhausting grind associated with getting the hour-long high-quality episodes we came to take for granted on GG. Who knows, maybe then some of the old extended Gilmore clan and selected members of the Stars-Hollows All-Stars will look forward to making some guest arcs on the show. That would be fun!

YAY!! I think the plot sounds great. Hopefully it’ll catch viewers attention too so that the series can last. She doesn’t even need a good script to make it hilarious. yay lauren! I can’t wait.

I think it would be a great idea for Lauren to be back in a comedy show! I am so excited and hopefully so are other big Lauren Graham fans! I have a feeling that this show will be on for a while! We will just have to wait and see. And hopefully it won’t end like Gilmore Girls did even though that show was AMAZING the ending wasn’t that great. I would like to see how this new show turns out! It sounds hilarious how the character won’t listen to her own advice! Have fun Lauren Graham!

well i apsolutly love gilmore girls although i know that lauren is not lorelai i think that it will be cool to see her playing a different character. i do feel like i know her and alexsis and it is my dream to meet them. i do wish that they would keep going and do an 8th season or at least go to a tenth season but if they walnt do that come on please do a movie. i know that lauren likes to play different characters and is ready to moveon but i think she and the rest of the gilmore girls cast should finish it the way it was supposed to end for the fans if nothing else
