Lauren Graham appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last night on CBS. Lauren was there to promote her Broadway musical, Guys and Dolls, which opens for previews on February 4th with opening night on March 1st. Check out the interview:
Lauren started off the night with her theory about why she hasn’t been on the show in the past 5 years. She thinks her story about Amsterdam, and her lack of knowledge about the city, was the cause (jokingly, of course).
In reference to Guys and Dolls, Lauren says it’s “one of the most beautiful musicals ever written. It’s a masterpiece.” She’s very excited to be working on it. She sounds pretty confident that it’ll be good, though Letterman does grill her on that! Does she feel confident enough to fill the 1200-person theater every night? Toss in a few stories about Lauren’s theater experience (elementary school onward) and her terminal degree in acting and you’ll have your answer to that. Ok, so maybe the contact lenses taught her humility early on… You have to listen to her tell the story, but Lauren’s first negative review was:
“She dies in the first ACT, but for her sake, if only she could have died sooner.”
But that was way back in her early acting career. So now we move on to Guys and Dolls, which I’m sure will be a smash hit, and to Lauren’s preparations for the grueling schedule, which can include taking the stage twice a day! Lauren says working on Gilmore Girls (“a tv show”) for 7 years at 14 hours a day did prep her a bit. ;) In the end, Lauren gets Dave to promise he’ll be at Guys and Dolls for opening night!
For Lauren Graham’s four other Letterman appearances, read here. And my final comment: didn’t Lauren look fantastic last night??

Thank you for posting this.
I know it might sound silly but I just love it when she refers to Gilmore girls.
Some of her previous itws led to make me believer that she couldn’t car less about the show that made her famous but it looks like she seems to be still attached to it… Good.
I wish I could go see her in Broadway but the ticket from France would be far too expensive!
Otherwise, very good moment as always when Lauren is on. She always has some funny anecdotes and stories, even though she does maybe too much sometimes…
sooo want to watch this, but i have assignments so i figured this could be a reward for once i’ve done ‘em ha.
