Hot on the heels of this morning’s post about Lauren Graham’s flopped NBC deal is confirmation about her upcoming ABC series – and its title!
Lauren Graham’s new comedy series, which we talked about here, will be called Let It Go. Lauren Graham stars in the series as a self-help guru who doesn’t take her own advice well when she gets dumped – and becomes obsessed with her ex. She’s unable to ‘let it go’, like she advises.
According to the new report, Lauren’s character is also a talkshow host (not just any old self-help guru!). From Lauren’s interview last week, we know that the character is “deeply flawed” and hard to root for, but the dark comedy is “so wrong it’s right” and made Lauren laugh just reading it.
Alex Herschlag is writer and executive producer for Let It Go, with Mitch Hurwitz, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum as executive producers. Lauren Graham will serve as producer.

I’m not sure if they will have a pilot ready for Fall 2009, but I hope so. Fall is the best timing for launching new shows.

I think it’s already been said that the new show it sat as a mid season launch, so sometime early in 2010. This makes sense given Lauren just said she’s doing Guys and Dolls for 9 months. And she is doing 8 shows a week so not much time for anything else.
But that said if they can shoot the pilot in NYC while she is doing her Broadway show, then still have a series launch in September, it could work but it would be very tight.
I wouldn’t want either the sitcom or G&D to suffer if she tries to do too much at once.

Lauren is such a good guest on talk shows, it will be interesting to see what she brings [even if its an act] from the other side of the table. And since every good talk show needs someone to book the prospective guests, I nominate Liza Weil to be the sarcastic sidekick who mercilessly mocks the people she interviews before allowing them to appear on the show.

Just saw the pilot and thought it was pretty funny. Jeffrey Tambor is in it, too, and his character is pretty great. Should be a decent show.
