Lifetime orders comedy Rita Rocks

Adding to its original programming, Lifetime Television has ordered 13 episodes of the half-hour comedy Rita Rocks starring Nicole Sullivan (The King of Queens, MADtv).

Premiering this fall, Rita Rocks (from Media Rights Capital) will also include Richard Ruccolo (Joey, Two Guys and a Girl) and Tisha Campbell-Martin (My Wife and Kids, Martin).

In the series, Rita (Sullivan) is an overworked married mom unfulfilled by her stressful life who regains her identity by recreating her glory days as a musician in a garage band.

While trying to maintain the romance with her husband Jay (Ruccolo), she juggles the demands of her nine-year-old daughter Shannon (Kelly Gould), her teenage daughter Hallie and her always-hanging-around boyfriend Kip (Raviv Ullman from Disney Channel’s Phil of the Future), while being passed over for promotion at work.

At her wit’s end, she dusts off her guitar and forms a garage band with her nosey postal carrier Patty (Campbell-Martin) and umemployed neighbor Owen (guest star Ian Gomez) in hopes of finding her youth and putting the spark back in her life.
