Lindsay Lohan posed for a very special edition of New York Magazine with photographer Bert Stern. Lindsay Lohan recreated the 1962 nude portraits of Marilyn Monroe by Bert Stern known as "The Last Sitting." Stern has, now 46 years later, revisited those shots with Lindsay.
Regarding the nudity, Lohan tells the magazine: "I was comfortable with it," though she confesses to having done "250 crunches" the night before the shoot. Lohan sees the Monroe photos (and by extension her own) as a way of regaining power: "Here is a woman who is giving herself to the public. She’s saying, ‘Look, you’ve taken a lot from me, so why don’t I give it to you myself.’ She’s taking control back."
The photoshoot is a beautiful tribute to Marilyn Monroe, and to the struggles both stars share. Lindsay Lohan exposes her body with grace and dignity.

The Spring Fashion issue of New York Maggazine is on sale today. The photographs were shot at the Hotel Bel-Air on February 5. Everything from the original photoshoot was duplicated, from props to lighting.
Lindsay, as we know, has an ongoing obsession with Marilyn Monroe, and even has purchased the apartment where Monroe lived. This photoshoot was a no-brainer decision:
"I didn’t have to put much thought into it. I mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? When is that ever going to come up? It’s really an honor."
Lindsay notes the tragic deaths of Monroe and recently Heath Ledger as being "prime examples of what this industry can do to someone," but says "I sure as hell wouldn’t let it happen to me."

so i’m sitting in the dentist office today, and i pick up the latest ‘people’ trashmag to read while i wait.boy, did i get a suprise!there was a story on Lindsays MM tribute/photoshoot,and the trashmag was actually NICE to her,i couldn’t believe it.the title of the article was ‘the great pretender’,pretender in pink letters, and the byline was ‘when it comes to dressing like a hollywood icon, nobody does it better than Lindsay Lohan.’this from a trashmag that always rips on her.wierd.they showed Lindsay as Liz Taylor,Ann-Margret,and Liza Minelli, also showed a couple of the MM shots.the blurbs ranged from neutral to nice on her portrayals, and there was no dirt/rumors/trashtalk,and no bad pics of her,as trashmags always post the crap pics of her, like blinking or bad angle shots to make her seem off-kilter or drunk.most pap cameras run 20-60 frames per second,so most pics end up useless as a person will blink, change expression, facial movements and tics, framerate blurr, and of course, the odd angles.i just couldn’t believe that a trashmag would be nice to her,so i believe that miss Lohans fortunes have taken a turn for the better, and 2008 is only the beginning,a rebuilding year, get some film in the can, some new jobs, photoshoots, some new music, and heal.love you,Lindsay.love always,a huge fan and friend.peace

look what the cat dragged in,a hater,oh god,the negativity i have to put up with,in the pursuit of entertainment excellence, namely this fabuLLous fansite,Lohangroupie, and the one and only, the incomparable miss Lindsay Lohan.
be gone,dj worm,your evil master,perezhole,calls
peace
ah,my original comment on this fabulous photoshoot finally appeared after days floating around the net, very nice.love you,Lindsay.love always,a huge fan and friend.peace
p.s. Lindsay portrayed Marilyn Monroe in 2004 ‘confessions of a teenage drama queen’,she was quite the cutie as MM,and i really liked her version of the wink and blowing kiss.go,Lindsay,go!!!
“look what the cat dragged in!”
Lola,Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen 2004(referring to that vile, souless, vapid skank-clone with the dead eyes, megan ‘i can’t act to save my life’ fox,as evil carla)
ludy…your comment just popped up,nicely said,i like that you say,’…a beautiful tribute to Marilyn, from one of her biggest fans,Lindsay Lohan.’even the biggest stars have their idols, crushes, favorites, and miss Lohan is no exception.she has stated for years in her interviews, that she is a huge fan of that great american icon,Marilyn Monroe, and the photoshoot for new york magazine is fitting proof of her love and devotion for this humanly flawed and beautiful performer.can you imagine what was going through Lindsays head,as she posed for these photos?she is in the same set, same poses, same photographer as her life-long idol,it is history in the making.wow.Lindsay had to be thrilled to publicly show her affection for miss Monroe, and it shows in the photos, bravo, miss Lohan, bravo.also, for an actress,it must have been surreal to step into the body and soul of that amazing personality of old hollywood,to bring back some essence of that beautiful and tortured soul,to reveal it to some degree,to a new generation of movie fans who aren’t influenced by the negativity of the trashloid media and smearNET.i have noticed that the majority of fans on this fabuLLous fansite see what Lindsay is portraying in these photos, see her talent, emotion, and soul in these pictures, and that she is paying her tribute and respects to this enduring icon of a bygone era.i love you,Lindsay, and thanks for your recognition of the relevance of old hollywood, and their contributions to cinema live on in your persona and immense talents.love always,a huge fan and friend.peace
“you tell Harlan, that if he’s up for a little danger, then i’d really love a ride!”
Rachel,Georgia Rule 2007(if you ever get a chance to see 1964 ‘kitten with a whip’ with Ann Margret, you will love Rachel even more, and have even more love for the talents of that incomparable american actress, miss Lindsay Lohan.Rachel rules!!!)
Travis Smith…well said,young man,well said.peace
There have been many MM imitators during Marilyn’s rein and after, including Madonna and even Christina Aguleira. But most of these imitators have always focused on the young Marilyn from the 1950s.
Kudos to Ms. Lohan and Bert Stern for their incredible tribut to circa 1962 MM, her last year on this planet. Lindsay has effortlessly captured the sexy, sad, and haunted Marilyn from the last sitting.
Not long after getting fired from her last, unfinished movie, “Something’s Got To Give”, Marilyn Monroe sent a telegram to Robert Kennedy. In it she declined an invitation to visit the Kennedy clan, making an odd, wistful joke by way of explanation. She was too busy “protesting the loss of minority rights belonging to the few remaining earthbound stars,” Monroe said. “All we demanded was our right to twinkle.” Lindsay, you have twinkled :)
most of the pics are really beautiful. but some of them ar just a little too mush. love u lindsay
i love Lindsay. she’s super. =)
john…it is a tatoo,’la bella vita’,italian for ‘a beautiful life’,fyi.peace
Sure Lindsay is not Marilyn cause there’ll never be another Marilyn, end point.
But Some of the pics are really striking , especially the outtakes’ ones. And this is a beautiful tribute to Marilyn from one of her biggest fans, Lindsay.
Now we give credits to Marilyn for what she really was, but she’s been taken for granted and many haters thought she was nothing but a stupid blond while she was alive. People should not be so judgmental and recognize a beautiful being when they see one.
I also wonder what that is on her right buttcheek–possibly a tat or birthmark?
Those pics are pretty unique—love the way they tease you with the cloth draped over her–showing just enough of the nipples and breasts but not exposing what is down below–leaving just enough to the imagination—but I do hate maybe not getting the chance to see her all in playboy.
