Lorrie Morgan is heading to Broadway this fall to begin working on a stage adaptation of the popular country movie “Pure Country,” which originally starred George Strait and Lesley Anne Warren.

The production will co-star country singer Joe Nichols as the character Rusty (“Dusty” in the movie, played by George Strait), and Lorrie will be Lula, his manager, originally played by Warren.
About the show and the opportunity to be part of it, Lorrie says:
“I never thought my life’s path would take me to Broadway, but when I heard they were creating a musical based on one of country music’s best-loved films, I knew I had to be part of it. I’m very excited about making my Broadway debut and becoming part of the theater community. I’m also looking forward to working with Joe Nichols. He’s an amazing talent, and I hope country fans come on up to the big city to see us.”
Pure Country is about a disillusioned country star whose rise to fame has cost him everything he used to hold dear. He abandons the high-pressure lifestyle and heads back home, incognito, where he reconnects with his roots and finds himself.
