Madonna Sticky and Sweet Tour Not Heading to Australia

It seems there’s no truth to the rumors that Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour will visit Australia later this year.

Undercover says Madonna’s record label has denied the stories and the promoter who was negotiating with Madonna before the dollar crashed says the talks are off the table. The dates published in newspapers last week don’t check out with venue bookings either.

Sorry Madonna fans but it all makes sense. When the tour was originally planned we were getting 95c to the US dollar. These days it’s sitting at around 65c. For shows so spectacular, the cost after the conversion would be phenomenal.

It looks like Madonna fans would be better off saving for an overseas trip if they want to catch the show, because I can’t see it finding its way here.

I’m so sick to death of hearing rumours about Madonna touring Australia! I’ve been a loyal fan since Burning Up appeared on Countdown & saw her in Australia in 1993 and also in 2001 for the Drowned World Tour in Spain. I love her, but there’s no chance in hell I’m spending extra money just to see her overseas again. I can understand that a massive showcase like hers wouldn’t make much money in Australia due to the dropping dollar, but she’s a freakin’ billionaire and need to look past that and understand that her fans in Australia have been dogged by her for years! Maybe all of us Aussie fans should stop buying her music, books, memorobilia etc, for her to appreciate us!!

I hear you George. The fact is, while you’d love the spectacle you’d be happy for Madonna to can the dancers and the costumes and the lights and everything else that makes this show so prohibitively expensive. Why not just play something a lot more low-key so she can get out here and give back to all the loyal fans? It’s been far too long!
