I thought this was a really interesting bit of information for Brad Pitt fans, especially since so many of us really enjoy all the things that Brad and Angelina do for charity.
Last weekend, a painter by the name of Mark T. Smith was in New Orleans to do a special project. He created some paintings on the famous pink material that acted as placeholders in the Lower 9th Ward back when Make It Right first started – remember that? It looked like this:

The artwork is going to be on display throughout the rest of the month of October at the Angela King gallery in New Orleans (241 Royal Street in the French Quarter if you’re close by and curious). After the display the pieces will be auctioned off and the proceeds will benefit Make It Right.

I love that Brad started off Make It Right to help make a difference to an area that is still desperately trying to recover years after Katrina hit and that so many others have been doing everything that they can to keep that ball rolling.
More photos of the Make It Right artwork below the cut.

A huge thank you to PittWatch reader Lisa who gave me permission to use her pictures and for letting me know about this extra Make It Right event!

This a great idea for a great cause!!!
I very proud to be Brad’s fan!!!
Thanks Sherry!!!
mary ann, i was just about to bring up the same thing!!! haha. i completely agree. the pink materials could have been easily wasted, but it’s great that they’re being recycled as art canvases.
Brad is great artist & humanitarian, so it’s nice to see his MIR project connected to the art :) I hope the proceeds will be huge :)
What a nice idea. Those pink coverings would have ended up in a landfill some place.
Off topic: Just saw on JJB that there was event last night in Santa Barbara. It is the Kirk Douglas award and this year it is going to Quentin Tarantino. Diane Kruger was there. If Brad was still in LA I think he would have attended this function. So maybe they are back in France. Can’t blame them, it appears that over there they can almost live a normal life. Wonder if they do Halloween, if not maybe Brad and Angie will have a Halloween party for the kids.
This auction is a wonderful idea! Brad has done so much good for New Orleans that he should be honored by the city somehow. I really respect this humanitarian side of both Brad and Angie a lot. I´m truly proud to be their fan. They´re great role models and great parents too. Mad, Pax, Zee, Shi, Knox and Viv sure are proud of their mum and dad. God bless the JPs always!
What a brilliant idea! The JPs are so inspirational & such sincere role models. God Bless the JPs.
Hey did everyone see the photos of Jolie and Pitt in Jordan. If not here is the link:

Oh wat a great guy, Brad is! Him and Angelina make me sing with joy for the charity they’ve done over the past few years. They make little girls and boys dream to be like them. This project is so inspirational…Make It Right is what’s right!!
it must feel wonderful to have a hands-on involvement in this project. wish i had a hand in designing the promotions for the project!
It’s times like this when I wish I had money!! If I had something extra, I would go to New Orleans just to see the artwork and then buy one of them. Alas, I’m living on Social Security!!
I’m so happy that Make It Right is so successful. Brad has been a godsend for New Orleans since our lovely government has done almost nothing!! New Orleans is still alive because of people like Brad, Angelina and many, many others who cared and actually did something.
