Man suing charity for not getting to meet Angelina Jolie

Man suing charity for not getting to meet Angelina Jolie

Wow. This is possibly one of the Angelina Jolie news stories that I’ve heard in a long time. A man – unnamed at this time – gave a $30,000 donation on his credit card to the Lili Claire Foundation two years ago during a charity auction. Apparently the man made this bid under some sort of impression that he would then get to meet Angelina Jolie.

Two years later and the charitable foundation still has not produced a meeting between Angie and the donor so he’s suing the Lili Claire Foundation for a full refund of his 30 grand plus damages.

Damages? What on earth kind of damages could he have possibly accrued by not getting to meet Angelina?!

The story is still somewhat confusing because I don’t know if this was a simple mix-up where the man misunderstood what the commitment was or if the foundation honestly offered up a meeting with a massive celebrity without clearing it first. I think that if he didn’t get what he was offered he should get a refund, but not damages. And if he just didn’t understand what the auction was for, well, what kind of a creep would take his money back from a charity?

Meanwhile, Lili Claire’s reps have said:

“The Lili Claire Foundation has a 100% track record of honoring its commitment to donors and recipients with respect to every single auction item sold to support its charitable services. In the rare event that a sold auction item cannot be satisfactorily delivered to the winning bidder through no fault of our own, The Lili Claire Foundation works faithfully for an appropriate resolution with our bidder.”

If she hears of this news, I wonder if Angelina would take the initiative to meet this man if she found out he made a donation of such a substantial amount. Of course that might depend on what kind of “meeting” he had in mind.

gena & Neela – I sooo agree with you both. Whenever there is quiet on the JP front the rags will start these ugly rumors about them. I used to take those rumors quite hard a while ago but now I only laugh at them. They´re a normal family who has a right to their privacy. Brad would never, ever cheat on Angie or vice versa. They´re meant to be together for the rest of their lives. Naturally they too have their problems but they solve them outside the public eye. I´m certain that the Brad and Angie are just fine. I miss pictures of the children but hopefully we´ll get them soon. God bless this beautiful family!

you know what i like? when brad and angie reveal a little something in their interviews that make us realize that they are able to do things w/o anybody—not the paps or some unnamed source—knowing about them. it’s a nice little surprise. i.e. a few years ago when angelina appeared in vogue, and she mentioned that she and brad had gone and camped out in the desert. it was just the two of them. nobody outside their world were ever aware of that, so, it was a bit surprising when angie mentioned it. it pretty much shows us that we really have to be careful about what we see on the magazine racks.

jpfanatic, exactly! and the tabs can’t even straighten out their own made-up stories.

Before you know it the Shiloh will be three and the twins will be a year old.
I use to take the tab stories hard also when they were negative. I have learned over the years to take what they say with a grain of salt and many times I just laugh at how silly the stories are.
    Off the exercise!

    reposting…

Sherry, since you posted a link about helping Brad and Angie make it to Time’s 100 Most Influencial People, i was wondering if you could also help Angie make it to Vanity Fair’s Most Beautiful Woman Alive. i know this title is just shallow but it’s always nice to hear if Angie wins. here’s the link:

gena- Yes, and Maddox will turn 8 and Pax six (and, next January, Zahara will turn five)! I’m sure you didn’t mean anything bad, but it just rubs me the wrong way when people only talk about Shi and the twins and leave out the other kids.

joliepittfanatic – I have also noticed that many times people forget Maddox, Pax and Zahara when they talk about the JP kids and only talk about Brangelina´s bio kids. I never forget the three others. They´re as much Brad and Angie´s children as Shiloh and the twins. It´s hard to believe that Mad will soon be 8 and Pax 6. They´re already big boys. Neela – you and I certainly aren´t the only ones who miss seeing new pictures of Knox and Viv. I´m certain that Knox looks a lot like his handsome dad and Viv is as beautiful as her beautiful mum. God bless the JPs!

Kati- You can add me to the list (of people who miss seeing new pictures of the twins) as well. :) I would LOVE to see some new pictures of the twins (as well as, of course, pictures of the four older kids!). If Shiloh is any indication, however, we won’t see much of Knox and Viv until they’re about a year old. :(

wow–this is a prime example of the Media Propaganda Machine grinding is squeaky wheels again. The some old story with a different eye popping, grap your chest (NO!) it just can’t be headline. PLEASE! If I were to remotely believe that hullabaloo I would be in serious risk of loosing some % of my IQ. And I am not.
I simple read only reputable magazine, however, I’m sure that there is alittle of the real story left out or not put in, but at lest more accurate.
And why for pity-sakes would anybody in their right mind take 2, count them, 2 years to sue someone of a charity group for his money back if he didn’t get what he was promised? I mean really I could understand if he has had contact with said charity group in the past 2 years to setup what ever was promised and then they just dumped him but we would have heard something about it in those 2 years before this. So why did it take him so long? I know most people here would NOT have waiting 2 weeks let alone 2 years. Something just doesn’t smell right here. Maybe its the economy, he is low on funds and he thinks it just might work if he cries foul. You know it being Angelina Joile and Brad Pitt. In like Flinn. Sad, so sad! Lets all hope this one drifts off in the wind with the nanny in its wake.

I could actually see the guy being awarded damages, if they dragged out giving the guy a refund for two years for no good reason. 30 grand could have produced a lot of interest or return on investments in two years! Plus, having to go through the hassle.

If this was true, I think this was a scam from the Charitable organization. Angelina has no ties to this organization yet they made false promises attaching her name to them in hopes of getting more money.
