Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were two of the 31 new designers who were admitted to the Council of Fashion Designers of America this year! MK and Ash join other prestigious up-and-comers such as Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Maria Pinto and Chris Benz.
Mary-Kate and Ashley are being honored for both ther high-end luxury brand, the Row, and their mid-range contemporary line, Elizabeth and James.
Thirty-one is the largest group of designers ever admitted. It’s part of CFDA president, Diane Von Fustenberg’s philosophy of fashion.
“Diane’s whole approach to fashion and design is inclusiveness,” a spokesperson for the CFDA told WWD. “She always refers to the CFDA as her extended family.”
There will be an intimate reception at Manhattan’s Four Seasons on October 21 to honor the inductees.
Congratulations Mary-Kate and Ashley! They must be so pleased that their hard work is paying off. Both the Row and Elizabeth and James are beautiful, fashion forward brands that deserves all the recognition they can get!

This is so exciting! I remember reading about this in their interview with Diane. I remember Ashley saying they were waiting for the right time. I guess that time is now. Congrats to the girls!
