Mary-Louise Parker states the obvious about Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt and Mary-Louise Parker in Jesse James

Mary-Louise Parker recently mentionedBrad Pitt in an interview with Parade.com. The two had worked together while filming The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. It seems that Brad made quite the impression on her. She described him like this:

Brad is actually a lovely, smart person, not to mention gorgeous. People just project so much onto him and Angelina [Jolie] which isn’t true. I just find it so bizarre. It’s like you’ve never been in the room with this person, much less met them but you’re convinced as to who they are and what they’re [sic] morality is.”

You know, that’s exactly it, isn’t it? The people who spout nothing but disdain for either Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie – or both – are almost always people who don’t know them. Take this snarky column in The Globe and Mail (Canadian newspaper). The author writes on and on about how neither of them deserve any of the attention they get in the media, particularly Angelina Jolie; she refers to her as a mediocre actress and seems unimpressed by Angie’s work with the UNHCR. She claims the only reason that we have any interest in the couple at all is because the media has managed to drag out the story of the Jen/Brad breakup and the Brad/Angie hook up for years and other than that, there’s nothing interesting about them.

Of course, I have trouble taking someone seriously when they title their column “Bored with Brangie” and then proceed to write about these so-called boring people for over 20 paragraphs. I don’t know about you, but when someone or something bores me I tend to ignore it rather than waste my time blathering on and on about it.

But while people criticize them constantly, it’s interesting to note that for the most part, the people who really do know Brad and Angelina have nothing but good things to say. Mary-Louise Parker isn’t the first person I’ve heard refer to Brad as smart. People constantly mention how nice they both are. The ones who actually know them and spend time with them are generally very positive. Take this article over at People where Wanted co-stars described Angelina as “a cool woman” and Brad as “a good dude”.

So why is it that people who have never exchanged a word with them feel so negative towards them? It’s interesting, this whole double-edged sword of fame. I’m not sure how well I could handle it. Readers here never see the occasional comments that come through the moderation queue where people passing through rip me apart, saying nasty things about me (and it might be more meaningful if they were brave enough to leave an actual authentic email address instead of a fake one), but believe me, they’re there at least once a week. It’s only a handful of snark among so many great comments so it doesn’t bother me, but I don’t know how I could handle the kind of negativity that gets thrown at Brad, Angelina, and so many other celebrities on a regular basis. I guess that’s why so many of them refuse to read the tabloids at all.

That’s why I’m always so glad to read something like Mary-Louise Parker’s comments because it means much more to the fans to read something from people who actually interact with the Jolie-Pitt family, don’t you agree?

Jessica – I don’t personally select who is moderated. Wordpress, the software that runs this blog, is what flags comments to be moderated. Sometimes I know why, other times I have no clue why a comment is flagged.

As for deleting comments and not being honest? It is not necessary for anyone here to read the comments that wish physical harm on the Jolie-Pitt children, the comments that say disgusting and horrifying and scary comments about them (things that are illegal and sexual involving their children, enough said, but I’m sure some long time readers here remember the time that one person’s comment somehow slipped through for 20 minutes before I caught it and related to what Brad could do to Shiloh – disgusting).

And I don’t have any desire to give people a spotlight when their comments are a personal attack on ME. That’s my choice. You don’t need to read the comments that call me a “f**king b**ch” or a “f**king w**re” or that make fun of my life. That’s not what this site is about.

If I allow the negative and snarky comments through then this entire site becomes nothing more than people fighting in the comments. This site has never been about that and I won’t allow it.

If you wish to read nasty comments, trust me there are countless places to find them. Check out any of the paparazzi official sites, JJ, and more. You can read nastiness to your heart’s content. You won’t read it here.

Shouldn’t post before my morning coffee. I also meant to add that there have been many debates on this site and trust me, I haven’t always agreed with everyone who comments. I do let people have an opposing point of view but it can’t be nasty.

sherry, thanks for keeping this site as positive as possible. and thanks for letting people agree to disagree on here. i agree, the unnecessary comments that promote nastiness, that provoke fighting doesn’t need to be posted. i know i’ve gotten carried away before. ;) but it’s appreciated that you give everyone respectable, proper, and decent “air time” on this blog.

Just because a news paper gives detailed reports on finances does not make it a Right wing news paper. Your ‘Toronto center of the world’ attitude is common and one of the reasons I would never live there again.

tHERE SEEMS TO BE A LACK OF RESPECT FOR ANYONE OR ANYTHING THESE DAYS. tHE PRESS HAS NO RESPECT FOR WORLD LEADERS. FREE SPEACH HAS GONE TOO FAR. LOOK HOW TEACHERS ARE TREATED. I AM IN MY 50′S AND IF I SPOKE TO AN ADULT WITH A TONE I WAS EITHER SLAPPED IN THE MOUTH OR MY MOUTH WAS WASHED OUT WITH SOAP. TO THIS DAY I TREAT EVERYONE WITH RESPECT UNTIL THEY HAVE PROVEN TO ME THEY DON’T DESERVE IT, THEN I JUST IGNORE THEM. THERE IS NO NEED TO ATTACK EACH OTHER.

    sHERRY,
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. I LOVE THIS SITE AND COME TO IT SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE DAY.
AS FAR AS THE JEN/BRAD/ANGIE THING. I TRULLY BELIEVE IF JEN WOULD HAVE HAD KIDS THERE WOULD BE NO BRAD AND ANGIE.

Oh and I was not talking about the history of the news paper, I was talking about the history of Canada, and Ontario and our heritage in this country, something that some of us are very proud of (being 8th generation Canadian). And I never feel the need to compare Canada to the US as they are two very different countries sharing the same continent. And just so we are clear I am in my 30’s and not from eon’s ago.

actualy kim, it seems that rulani is correct regarding the Globe and the Mail’s CURRENT politcal stance. In the 1990’s and 2000’s, the paper generally supported liberal prime minsters, BUT in the 2006 federal election, the paper turned away from liberals and TO the Conservative Party of Canada.

Furthermore, not sure how much the paper trully comprehensive about the “common” person. Even before the Globe merged with the Mail and Empire, the paper was widely considered the voice of the Upper Canada elite.

This is not a criticism, just some info.

Thanks Rita and ZK for stating the facts .@ Kim I never mocked the history of Ontario or Canada.I was commenting on the Globe and Mail statement you made which was grossly inaccurate as is this “Just because a news paper gives detailed reports on finances does not make it a Right wing news paper”..the Toronto Star gives detailed financial reports ..It is the stance and the lean of the articles as well as whom it panders to that determines which side of the line it belongs. I may only have been here 7 years but have accepted this country as my own like many of my fellow immigrants(like your own ancestors as the first nation people are the true people of this beautiful land) who have made it their home. Stating facts isnt a crime. Toronto is the only multi-cultural city in this province go elsewhere and I will be hard pressed finding people that look like me. If that is the “heritage” you are talking abt then I am glad i decided on Toronto and will live here as long as it remains the welcoming MOSAIC that it is. I thought i wasnt being offensive or confrontational but from your spirited responses it seems so. Dont be angry with reality!

Kim dear, no disrespect, but I also live in Toronto (and LOVE it)…..but it is common knowledge that the Globe and National Post are, in fact, right-wing papers.

Canada is experiencing a real problem with our media in this country, one that Americans are only too familiar with. We’re losing independent voices because of media conglomerates. And if you do some research, you’ll see most of it is indeed right-wing these days. (sadly)

Like I have said before Toronto has a whole different view as to what is right wing or left wing. I know a lot of people who would like to see Toronto become its own province. This is the last I will say on this subject.

kim, I’m not sure about what you mean by “a whole different view as to what is right wing or left wing.” Aren’t those universally defined? first I’ve heard that there are different views about left & right…hmmmm.

I agree with you, but the same goes to you, how can you defend them when you don’t even know them?
