McKey Sullivan on January 2009 Seventeen Cover

McKey Sullivan’s Seventeen cover and spread is now available on newsstands. She shares a split cover with Pink so if you see Pink on the newsstand be sure to flip it over for McKey!

I personally think the cover isn’t very good. They clearly coached McKey to go for something fresh faced, personable and very-Seventeen, which isn’t McKey’s strengths. I understand that that’s the Seventeen audience, but if they aren’t even going to give her a cover to herself, the least you they could do would be to play up her strengths and the skills that won Top Model.

The internal spread is a bit better, as she models what Seventeen thinks are going to be the hot new trends for 2009.

You can see the cover and the spread here. What do you think? Does it do McKey justice? Or further prove what a silly prize a Seventeen spread is?

mckey’s cover isn’t that good, but i liked her eyes. i also like her spread because I think it looks fresh . She is more editorial and HF than commercial.
    Have a happy new year!

mckey’s cover wasn’t too good, but I liked her eyes. I also think it’s 17 magazine’s fault, because usually, most of the antm winners covers aren’t good. I love her spread though! I think it’s one of the best spreads of the winners.
Mckey is definetley more editorial and HF than commercial. Have a happy new year!

I agree. the cover is pretty bad, but that’s totally seventeen’s fault. and it’s weird there is no interview. she’s not pushing an agenda, but her personal story is really interesting and inspiring. maybe they did one, then cut it because of space/lack of decent material.

    Happy New Year!!!!!!!

This cover definitely isn’t that good but I blame 17 more than McKey. I mean honestly, except for maybe Saleisha’s how many of the covers of ANTM winners have been good? The spread itself is decent and I think the racer back tee pic would have made a good cover actually. I also have never liked the styling in the spreads for any of the girls either. I mean really, in McKey’s it’s all throwbacks to the ’80s and nobody needs to wear that stuff again. The concensus overall from various forums seems to be bad cover/good spread. They also didn’t do an interview with her but I guess it’s because she didn’t have any personal drama to overcome or she wasn’t pushing an agenda (Whitney). I’ll be curious to see what the new year holds for McKey. I really hope Elite works with her. Happy New Year!

The cover is ridiculous, but I actually think the spread inside is quite good. Considering McKey excels at editorial work, this isn’t bad for such a commercial print.
