Medium Episode 4.02 "But For the Grace of God" Open Mic

medium episode 4.02Hoorah! It is Monday night and time for another new Medium episode. I can’t promise to be very lively, but I wouldn’t miss this for anything. “But For the Grace of God” looks like it will be terrific!

I’ve ordered you all an assortment of donuts from Krispy Kreme and had them send coffee along with it. (You do know about Krispy Kreme’s light that goes on when the donuts are just out of the oven, right?)

I know what you mean about the endings Dawn. We have not been given good clues, nor has Allison, throughout the show to have more of a hint or idea of what is going on, and who the perp is. That is OK, because I am thoroughly enjoying the focus on the family issues. They do appear to be making the ’scary’ scenes stand out more than in apst years, maybe because they have less screen time than they used to.
Ratings news: “Medium’ did almsot as wella s alst week, with NBC’s “Medium” (9.5 million, 3.3/9), down just .1 million viewers, which is nothing.
Hopefully it stays jsut where it is, making it hopeful for a new season next year. It is up against all new programing from the networks as it used to be, so it is holding on well. Not huge ratings, but solid.

Anyone else wonder why they showed a different ep than the promo they showed last week? Last week they showed Devalos and Allison and Allison doing something for Larry Watt – a guy who killed his wife. Hmmmm…

Thanks for having the donuts and coffee sent in – not a big donut person myself or a coffee person, but hot chocolate seemed very appropriate expecially with the snow storm on the East Coast.

OK, didn’t anyone else think how terrible that this pedophile pf a policeman was running around doing this for 20 years or so without having been caught? No telling how many young girls he had victimized.

At least we got to see a small amount of Scanlon.
It will be interesting to see what ended up on the cutting room floor from this ep.

Holly, this isn’t the first time they used an actress in more than one part – everyone’s favorite – Deputy Doll – played a Texas Ranger or soem kind of policewoman in the Pilot and then was brought in as the Deputy Mayor later.

Perhaps Jessie Schram wasn’t available or because she has matured beyond the age of a high school girl – I noticed last year in the flashback ep of Allison, Jessie seemed quite tall compared to her friend and we know Allison isn’t tall at all, so maybe she has grown a lot more.

I think with that Keener woman I would want to be paid by the job rather than having her breathe down my neck everyday looking for me to produce.

Ariel, Ariel, Ariel you are such a typical teenager!

Yeah, my husband was the one who noticed that the episode this week was different from the one they had adertised at the end of last week’s episode. He asked me where the D.A.guy went and why we didn’t see him. I wonder what happened. With only a handful of epidsodes to choose from, it’s not like there are a bunch of options.

I fell in a sleep after 30min. not because the show was boring but I only slept few hours night before. Can you tell me whatever happened after Ariel was caught by Allison? Can’t stand it when this happens…

Odd, this episode was aired on Sunday! It aired on Sunday night, we recorded it, and I thought it was some special, but it seemed to run again on Monday. Did they change it or something?

I also love how Allison was a teenie bopper back in the 80’s, that was so awesome, but I thought we already saw Allison in the past, as a normal girl? Didn’t we? The episode where the guy shot himself, remember?

… I wonder what it’s like too have a psychic daughter who knows your dirty little secrets.

Hey everyone.. I saw the eposide last nite on Medium.. I was confused a little when Ariel was played Casey I thought it was Ariel for she was planning on do something naughty. I didnt quite understand where did Ariel went while her friend was waited for her at the Roller skate rink? then Allison came by to pick them up and they saw Ariel getting off the bus. Where did she goes?

by the way. the show was very good. I didnt like Joe ’s Character … I wish I could see Maria Lark more .she is funny .

Well Hope you all have great week.

Sorry I missed everyone last night, but only got a chance to view it tonight.

I hesitate to say this, but I didn’t really enjoy this episode as much as the first one. I think the writer(s) went out of their way to make this so convoluted that you couldn’t guess the ending.

I too like the girl from last season who played Allison, I think she was more believable as a young Allison.

I still loved the acting by everyone in this episode, just think the story line could have been better. But still think this is the best show on TV.

As far as why we saw a different episode other than the one advertised, they did it last season and changed the original opener for another two-parter. Could be editing (doubtful), or could be storyline continuity, or even as simple as music rights stuff. So many reasosn why!

The ep was good in my book, with Ariel’s abilities coming into their own, tying in with Allison’s dreams to make a nice puzzle and solution. And just when I thought no Studly Scanlon to grace my screen this week (as I had dreaded) THERE he was! Briefly, but there all the same and back to work as a go-get-the-bad-guy Detective. He had help from Allison yet again and didn’t even know it! That’s kind of a new twist, and I LIKE it! I wonder if we’ll ever have a reveal later on when Lee finds out that Allison has been the guiding hand behind the arrogant Ms. Keener! Ooh! I can’t wait for the Larry Watt ep; he’s a bad guy you love to hate.

Lena, as to your resolution; I lost a BUNCH of weight and the first thing I did was eliminate sugar! And since I don’t even like donuts, it wasn’t so bad! Hard at first, but it gets easier and healthy eating takes over before you know it. Then start some exercise. You probably already know all of this, but you certainly have my support! Go girl, go!

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed that episode. I don’t know if I liked it more than last week’s episode, but I still did enjoy it just the same. What annoys me is that we did not see the episode that I thought we were going to. I don’t know what happen, because they showed a different teaser after Monday’s episode, too. So when are we going to see the one with Larry Watt? Which episode will we see next week? I find this annoying, but what can you do…

The structure of these last two episodes feels different than last season, but I’m okay with that. Many things have changed (though just as many have stayed the same) and this is just one more thing. I’ve rather liked this change.

Also young Allison felt different, and it was not just because it was a new actress. The other one seemed much more grounded and less drastic in her actions. I don’t see one person changing so much in so little time, but who knows. And what’s with her having different friends in every episode. Maybe I’m getting nitpicky, but if Ariel can have the same friend in each episode so can young Allison. But I guess in the larger scheme of things this really doesn’t matter.

I still loved the Ariel/Allison relationship growth dynamic and the money problem issues. This was an all-together solid episode.

    I miss Devalos!

I agree, Holly. There does seem to be a little bit of a difference with the structure of these episodes, but I like it. It flows well (perhaps TOO well, because the hour passes by way too quickly for me, lol). I didn’t even notice that they showed a different episode than the one they advertised because this ep was so good.
My favorite part was the Allison/Ariel dynamic and how it portrayed the conflict between them. Patricia and Sofia did a fantastic job with their scenes together and the conflict seemed very real and believable. It was also great seeing the backstory for Allison, but I didn’t have a problem with Allison having a different friend in this episode. If you notice, in this episode, she was a freshman, and in the other flashback ep, she was junior or senior, so it’s not surprising that she would have had different friends, especially given that they explained why she and Casey weren’t friends later on. That’s why she had different friends later on in high school. But the sad part to me was how many of her high school friends she lost. Her friend from the “Boy Next Door” stopped speaking to her after she was attacked by the psycho kid, and Casey stopped speaking to her after she was attacked by the cop. It must have been hard for Allison to have friends and try to cope with her abilities at that age. That’s why I love the eps that show her as a young woman and what she went through and the events that shaped her into the woman she is now.

I was afraid that their revealing Allison’s gifts to the world would ruin the show, but it has actually been great creatively for them because it seems to have reinvigorated the writers and given them a fresh perspective on the story. I like the direction it’s taking now and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

[...] "But for the grace of god", Medium has returned for a season 4. Oh, House, how I’ve missed your snarky ways. I’ll take your "Wonderful Lie" any day. And Reno 911! comes back for a 5th season – yes, 5th. Prison Break is just a couple of days away – a tunnel, a chicken foot? [...]

I agree, Dawn. It’s like the calm after the storm or something. I still love the way how Allison has too hang onto SOMETHING to make a living, because her reputation is tarnished, while still being Mom at home. I also love Ariel’s show time. Ariel has been my favourite daughter (Good thing I’m not a parent) from all 3. Probably because she makes for good drama, seeing as her age is changing. I also love how her psychic powers are coming into play.

I think what’s different is that various characters are getting less air time, and some are getting more than last season. Maybe? I don’t know. I think what made me in love with Medium was the whole “I see dead people” kind of thing and helping out the DA with their cases made it interesting, especially seeing the step by step process in finding out who the killer is — With psychic powers.

That other girl just seems a bit picky don’t you think? I forgot the actor name, but she’s the one that has the long nose. I thought she was going to have psychic powers, but my Mom said no, and I’m still unclear. It seemed too me like she was hinting it, but I guess because she’s a private detective… It would make sense… I just think she’s bad news, even though she’s helping Allison now. Her temper blows off way too easily, but I do have to say… I love seeing Allison come back with witty remarks and/or psychic information.

I could be wrong though; She could just be a temporary character.
