Well, it may be awhile before we can say this again, which makes it especially important to enjoy tonight – welcome to another open mic for a new Medium episode. We’ve been trying to figure out why it is going on hiatus after tonight until February 19th when the season just started. Thanks to Betty for gently breaking the news to me that the Super Bowl is on Sunday, so that isn’t the reason. (Yes, I’m blushing profusely. I try to avoid football talk, but the family is planning a big Super Bowl party, so no idea how I got it soo wrong.) Dawn’s hoping they are just trying to spread out the season. What do you guys think?
Well, enough with worrying about future episodes. Tonight is “To Have and To Hold” and promises to be an episode with some new challenges – like can Allison perform on command to save Joe’s chances of a new job?
I’ve got an assortment of hot wings from the local place, a nice plate of veggies, baked tortilla chips and low fat dip for everyone who is dieting (Congrats on your progress, by the way) and an open bar because I couldn’t decide which drinks went with wings and veggies.

Yeah, I think so, too.
I KNEW IT!!!
It’s him!
Ahh, I do believe that Paris scene was not years ago, after all.
Here’s what me and mom came up with. Well, we can see that the corkscrew incident was recent now. I suspect if it didn’t happen that exact way this time, it happened similar. Then when he said it was torn down, blah blah blah, I believe I came up with the idea he made a set to replicate his paris suite. Think it adds up? I don’t know!
Dawn is right. He’s got the mark of the corkscrew!
Luke,
That makes sense. He specializes in recreating stuff, after all.
Anybody else think that “Untraceable” movie looks pretty good?
I think it will be. Diane Lane is good. She just finished filming a movie with Patricia Arquette’s husband.
Poor Allison. She can’t even come in the door without Lee acting like she has cooties.
What’s up big Scan!
Help a lady out dude!
Dawn,
I think it is tooo scary for me. The commercials made me want to bite my nails!
Luke is right. He set up the fake hotel room to keep her in.
Uh, Allison, how can you not tell what he’s saying. Go call in a bomb threat.
Is he telling her to call in a fake bomb threat?
That was so cool seeing Lee walk around the corner like Godzilla.
I knew that guy was trouble.
Oh, no. Aerodytek bought him out. That just bites.
Darn, after all that, the guy sold the company to Joe’s old company!
Typical kid reaction to the deadly PDA by parents.
That was too funny! Ariel was covering Marie’s eyes. Lol!
Mommy and Daddy are getting frisky, haha!
And we’ll be back in four looong weeks. If you are watching from a later time zone, it should be safe to start reading here.
Great ending!!!
I wish Joe could tickle me. I love to be tickled…
Okay! no more brandy, time to go home.
See you guys later- have a great week.
Katelyn, did you notice that the preview said that all new Medium would return on Monday in four weeks? Maybe that means they’ll keep it on Monday. I hope so anyway.
Why does the timestamp show 9 PM on your last message Katelyn?
Yay! I was able too piece the puzzle together. That’s so cool. I just didn’t think he held her captive. I expected her too be dead, until I noticed the time.
Untraceable does look good. Except I felt the trailer on youtube revealed too much. They took out parts for the one on TV, probably because of everyone noticing the trailer revealing basically the whole story.
What movie I really want to see is The Eye. That one looks really good, and I’d like too see Jessica Alba break from her usual genres. She has too much a childish face in my opinion too do horror films. Though I’m hoping for a good outcome for the movie.
Yes, I did and I certainly hope so. Monday nights are right for me and for most other Medium fans.
Tom,
I never changed the time zone from when Sheila was the blogger, so it is set for California, still.
When it was 5 minutes to go, I had the feeling it was going to be continued, but like the first episode, they tied everything up in the last 5 minutes. Very good show
I hate how Allison can have dreams that follow up to the exact moment someone dies, yet she can’t have a dream about the future of her family. I guess that’s the rule about having psychic powers. You can see everyone else’s future but your own.
Anyone else notice how the last few episodes just seem to fly by, and you don’t see the ending coming until it’s there?
These last few eps have been fantastic! And they’re over too fast. Darnit! Now that’s a great hour of television.
does anyone know the name of the song or artist played during all of the hotel room scenes? it’s driving my husband nuts!
LLLLLMAO!!! YOU GUYS CRACKED ME UP…. THATS WAS FUNNY.. THANKS FOR THE LAUGH . I WAS MISERABLE IN WHOLE WEEKEND. YES I WATCHED THE SHOW. IT WAS GOOD… WHEN PATRICIA WAS WEARING NAVY BLUE TOP THAT MADE HER LOOK SHE IS PREGGY. BUT AT FIRST I THOUGHT SHE COULD BE PREGGY OR GAINED SOME WEIGHT. I COULDNT TELL. GOSH I HATE THAT KIND OF CLOTHES! IT TRICK MY EYES.
WE ARE TAKING 4 WEEKS BREAK UNTIL THEY ARE RETURN TO NBC.. I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE EPSOIDE ABOUT THE LITTLE DEAF GIRL THAT ALLISON HAS TO DEAL WITH. .
BY THE WAY WHEN IS THE SUPERBOWL SUNDAY? AND WHICH TEAMS ARE ON SUPERBOWL? I CANT WAIT FOR FOOTBALL SEASON TO BE OVER…
WELL… ITS GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU ALL AGAIN. HAVE GOOD WEEK
DAWN DE POORTER
Hey All,
Like usual, I missed the conversation first hand, but I was with you in spirit watching the show way out here on the lonely west coast! I loved tonight’s episode. However, I thought some parts were a little predictable, which doesn’t change how much I enjoyed it, though. I knew as soon as I saw the ex’s hands in gloves that the corkscrew incident had been recent. I was surprised that he built the Paris set. That was pretty good.
Poor Joe! All that and he still doesn’t get the job. Oh, by the way, it was so refreshing to have someone admire Allison and finally verbalize the fact that she had been right all along (last season) and no one even acknowledged that. Yay wife lady!
I think one of my favorite parts was seeing the way Lee walked around that corner of the Paris set to save the day. Hubba hubba, and I’m not usually the one drooling over him. I wonder what the father of the missing girl thought of Allison then. Would he apologize?
Why in the world are we waiting for four weeks? Is it because of the Super Bowl? What a drag. Why does this show always seem to get the boot? Oh well, it’s going to be a long four weeks. Anyhoo, until then, take care everyone.
I just looked at the episode list on the tvguide website, and they said that Medium will continiue on the 19th of Feb (Dawn and Holly mentioned it earlier). However, if you look at the dates to all the previous episodes so far this season, they’re all a day off. They all say Tuesday when we know that they were on Monday. We were there, right? So, is that just a silly mistake made by whoever is in charge of updating the site? Perhaps Medium will return to Monday afterall. They didn’t say it would change in the teaser after tonight’s show, so I think the tvguide just screwed up. I hope. But that’s odd, doncha think?
I just read everyone’s posts–thank you!
I liked this ep, but the thing with the flashing of the ex-husband’s gloves was a bit obvious and annoying. Otherwise, I liked all of the guest actors. Great casting.
My favorite scene was, of course, the one with Allison and Lee on the staircaise. Very cute. She doesn’t even realize how loyal he is.
And are they really going to subject us to extended reality shows for four weeks? I guess if it makes the bucks they have to do it, but I won’t be watching any of it.
The name of the song in the dream sequences is “I’m not in love” by 10cc. It was driving me crazy as well!
GREAT NEWS, guys!! Medium scored 10.07 million viewers last night, with a 3.4/9 in the 18-49 demographic! Which is even better than last week (though only by a fraction), and better than anything it has scored since December of 2006. This is really good news for the show, and we can only hope that it will continue to grow and improve when it returns in February. Everything else will still be in reruns then, so it shouldn’t have any real competition (hopefully). These are fantastic numbers for a show in its fourth season. I just hope it continues to fare as well.
Just wanted to add this too. We’ve all been wondering why NBC is holding back Medium for four weeks, and maybe moving it (at least according to the NY Times and TVGuide) but according to zap2it and the Futon Critic, the decision to hold it back is, as I suspected, to stretch out the season, and to fill the February sweeps schedule. And according to both of those sites, it is scheduled to return on Monday, February 18th, not the 19th as reported by TVGuide (they’re always wrong about Medium anyway). So yaaaaay, it looks like NBC isn’t moving Medium to a new night after all!
Hey guys, I was with you in spirit last night and actually got to watch the show live – traded nights with someone – good show. Gotta love Scanlon! Was surprised that he still acts like she is persona non grata at teh station, but I loved the way he hinted that if a fire, bomb threat, or some other potentially hazardous situation, that he was just going to HAPPEN TO BE in the area in, oh, say, 1 hour and 15, and he would be OBLIGATED to go and help them team search – Gotta love him for that! I’m so surprised we actually got to see him in this ep at all! Very pleased actually because it was already so late in the ep, I thought we wouldn’t see him at all. I hope Allison found a pay phone or has a pre-paid cell phone to call in the info so she doesn’t get busted for the call.
I love the fact that Mr Boss’ Wife was so supportive and defensive of Allison. That sucks for Joe that they sold the company.
Ariel – “There are no hints in math”.
I am bummed that we have to wait, not two weeks, but FOUR WHOLE WEEKS for another episode.
This guy is a real sicko! Recreating a hotel room and a view of Paris to hold his ex-wife captive – that is EXTREME!
I still can’t believe that Joe is that light of a sleeper that every time Allison lets out any kind of gasp, he is awake and asking questions. Most men sleep so soundly, unless an earthquake knocks them out of bed, they wouldn’t notice!
OK, that guy had THREE private detectives on this and they couldn’t find anything? I’d ask for a refund!
OK, I made some homemade chili – there’s plenty – come on over and we can watch the first three eps of this season so far and talk amongst ourselves about what we think will happen next. Anybody want to bring some fritos and beer?
Oops, stuck in the spam filter – HELP Katelyn – get me outta here!!!!!!
To Dawn D or anyone else who wanted this info, the Super Bowl is Sunday, February 3. I know it will be the New England Patriots and I think the New York Giants. The actual game never starts until about 5 to 6 PM so they get it in prime time for ratings – they charge BIG, BIG bucks for ads on the Super Bowl.
Aww Thanks Betty I appreciate it. I sure will keep eye open for the SuperBowl Sunday.
pray for me I hope I will find a Editor asap. Have a great week.
What was the name of the music that was playing on tonights episode of Medium when Allison was dreaming.?
Name of artist?
Just thought I’d share this with you all. I mentioned above about Medium’s ratings for this episode. Well, here’s the official press release from NBC about Medium’s ratings for the night. After a year of the fans begging them to put Medium back on Mondays, now they’re crowing about it like it was all their brilliant idea. Typical, lol! I thought Medium would do well when they brought it back, especially against repeats, but I think it’s surprising everyone with how well it’s doing. It’s doing way better than it did last season (particularly after Lost returned) and it’s posting some of its highest numbers since season 2. Looks very promising.
At 10 p.m. ET, “Medium” (3.4/9 in 18-49, 10.1 million viewers overall) won its time period in adults 18-49 and other key measures. The 3.4 rating for “Medium” marks NBC’s top rating in this time period since the opening night of the 2007-08 season (September 24, 2007) and the 10.1 million viewer tally is NBC’s top result in this slot by that measure in more than seven months (since June 18, 2007). “Medium” was up by 48 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC’s season average in this time period prior to “Medium” (3.4 vs. 2.3).
This was the highest-rated episode of “Medium” in adults 18-49 in nearly a year (since Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007) and in total viewers it was the “most-watched” episode of the series since Monday, May 8, 2006.
Maybe now NBC will stay smart and leave it on Mondays, especially when they bring back Heroes (if they bring back Heroes). Here’s the link to the full press release.

It’s “I’m not in love” by 10CC
Finally watched the ep on the ol’ DVR; was good! Loved all the elements of this one, very tense and lots of interaction with Allison and Joe and the girls. And just when you tought Lee was a no-show, there he is! And so cutely and slyly insinuating a false fire alarm! Go Lee! And to the rescue no less, stomping through the streets of fake Paris! Loved it! Allison is somewhat vindicated, but still not able to help Joe land the job. Poor folks, but they’re still in love and pulling through together. It’s gonna be a short season, dragged out for dramatic effect, but it looks to be a good one.
