Medium Spoiler: The One Behind the Wheel (MED-049)

Episode Name: The One Behind the Wheel
Episode Number: MED-049 (3.11)
Air Date: February 14, 2007, Wed. 10/9c
MED-049 Summary | All Episodes

When Allison emerges from a dream believing she’s an entirely different person named Sandra, an uneasy Joe tries to snap her out of her bizarre identity crisis with help from Scanlon. Meanwhile, Bridgette anticipates Valentine’s Day.

The preview has me all hot and bothered. It looks so good! Allison…only it’s not really Allison. Ack!

As Dawn and Holly have said in the comments here, potential Emmy episode? Hm…

On the preview they made specific note that it was on Valentine’s Day. Does that mean it’s going to have another romantic theme like “Twice Upon a Time” in season 2 did? It gets me every time I watch them kiss in the rain. It would be a shame if they didn’t play off the Valentine’s Day thing. I know Bridgette “anticipates Valentine’s Day,” but it would be nice if it was in the main story, too. Just a theory.

I LOVE that kiss in the rain! That is my favorite all-time kissing scene (along with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara in The Quiet Man, also in the rain). It would be great to have a romantic theme because these two are so much in love and being married they don’t often do romantic things together. I am really looking forward to this ep (along with the next two). Did anyone else notice the difference in Allison/Sandra? Her voice was different, and even her features/expressions seemed different. Patricia is such a phenomenally actress. I can’t wait to see how she pulls this off. Jake has some great material in this one too. I loved the line where he yells at her “Give me back my wife!”

As an A&S fan, I must input the following … vomit.

Nansee: A&S…A&S…Allison and Scanlon? I don’t get it! And I must know what makes you want to vomit. Do tell.

I can’t wait to see this ep ( all of them really) but this will be some good Emmy material. Since Joe enlists Scanlon, I hope that means Scanlon gets more than 4 lines of dialogue this week!

Speaking of Emmy material – go back and watch the first season ep, “In The Rough” where Allison is on the golf course, laying on the ground, gently patting the grass and singing a nursery rhyme to the 4 year old girl buried beneath her. Gives me chills every time!

  6. Dawn

You’re right about that ep, Betty. But this show has so many great moments that give me chills that it’s hard to pick just one. I like the one in the pilot where she visits the young man in jail and she tells him “You look like an ad for milk,.. but when I look at you, all I hear are the sounds of small animals being tortured.”
And then she starts talking to the ghosts of all the men before him who perpetuated the cycle of violence. Creepy. gives me goosebumps every time I see it.

As for the next couple of eps, while I adore Scanlon, I LOVE Joe and would love to see him get to play the hero and ride in on a white horse and save Allison. That would make my fantasy of him complete.(Sigh)
