Medium "Who's That Girl" Ratings

Even though ratings were down from the week before, CBS in general, and Medium specifically, easily won the night. CBS’s lineup of Ghost Whisperer, Medium, and Numb3rs easily beat fare that included Dollhouse on FOX, Law & Order on NBC, and The Forgotten on ABC.

Medium’s total viewers for the night were 7.7 million, building slightly on Ghost Whisperer’s audience of 7.6 million. Medium also won in the 18-49 demographic, snagging 1.8 million viewers.

While Friday night’s ratings may not be as high as they would be were these shows to air on a different night, they are blowing away the competition. It’s only been two weeks, but it seems as though CBS has finally figured out what NBC couldn’t in five years: If you put Medium on the air at a time that makes sense, people will watch it.

I’m happy to see that Medium is easily winning the night, but I’m a little disappointed in the numbers. I was sure (as were a lot of people) that the numbers would go up, esp. since GW had its best season (ratings wise) last year. But GW and Numbers both seem to be down slightly, and it seems to be Medium that’s holding up the night for CBS. That’s good for Medium, but I wonder how long CBS is going to wait to see if the ratings go up. I’m curious if they’re looking for a specific target in the ratings, or are they satisfied with the performance of the shows, and with winning the night overall? It’s a slow night for television overall, so they have to be happy to be on top, but as one critic said, it’s a bad night, so nobody’s really a winner. I really hope that the ratings start to improve soon, so CBS will feel confident enough to keep it on the air for another season, or at least the rest of the this season.

I heard that the Friday shows on CBS always start out slow early in the season and build as it progresses, picking up significantly after DST ends. I hope that’s true. I’d like to see Medium experience a resurgence to its early days on NBC. It’s a great show that deserves better ratings than it gets.

I would like to see more people watching too. I wouldn’t mind knowing what CBS considers a success for that evening. Hopefully it’ll do no worse when Ugly Betty and Southland start.

I know it’s produced by CBS television studios which probably does it no harm. I also wonder how much it costs to produce an episode in relation to their other shows.

Fridays are just a bad night for tv since it is the start of the weekend. A lot of people go out or go way the weekends. I think it should be okay since it has been the strongest show of the night although NBC will start Southland on Fridays soon and it may take some viewers away. I would hope that CBS would try it on a better weeknight before considering to cancel it.

I think Medium is doing great in ratings and we should’d be no worry of Ugly betty and southland because the Medium Viewers are loyal to the show and CBS no matter what is the competition they put good numbers IM STILL HAVING HOPE THAT MEDIUM IS DOING GREAT AND THEY ARE GOING TO CONFIRMED A 7 SEASON I REALLY HOPE SOO LETS BE POSSITIVE!!!!

Oh yeah. Medium is doing great in the ratings. ahhh remember, its friday. your not gonna get 15 mil watching. Who watches tv on the weekend besides couch potatoes??? I love Medium and I will not stop watching it. Its my favorite drama on tv. Im a family person and Medium is the only drama to give us the family dynamic. As long as CBS wins the ratings on Friday nights, Medium is safe. Its winning all of fri night and I for one was shocked due to the fri night death trap at 9. but its holding its own. I must say, I read on EW a while back that Numbers could becoming to an end nut not b/c of ratings. Even entertainment has to make cut backs. The unit and with out a trace was cut last season for these reasons. Ah well, I hope it stays the same next year. My opinion is that fri has the best line up period.

Nice to hear Brett at cliqeclack tv call ratings at CBS an easy win with the Friday night lineup of Medium.

I hope it continues to be an easy win the rest of the season. Hopefully Ugly Betty and Southland coming to Fridays doesn’t break our winning streak.

  7. Betty

Ugly Betty has been delayed at least another week before the new season kicks off – no reason why.

NBC really has nothing to compete.

Medium could be down slightly because folks knew it was going to be another possession story and maybe didn’t want to watch it. It seems there are more who are a bit tired of the possession stories than not.

Im agree with you betty NBC have nothing to compete because southland have low numbers and Ugly betty have putting lower and lower numbers thought the seasons So MEdium have very good chances to still winning Friday , If medium beat Dateline and law and order on friday they can beat anywone!!!

I thought this episode was really good and to have the eldest daughter, Ariel be possessed this time was a great way to build her character. I thought Sofia did a great job acting in this episode, and I believe that the way she played both characters were great. I do hope that the rating gets larger and larger, so Medium can show NBC whose boss and that their show is worth something.

I love Medium and I’m looking forward to the next episode, let’s hope for viewers in 10-20 millions lol I wish, and I wish.

Love ya Medium, and Patricia Arquette!!! Best acting ever. Oh how good your acting is.

I just read an article that says in it’s 7th season, NCIS is finally the #1 rated show. In it’s first season, it averaged only 11.8 million viewers each week – and it has always run on Tuesdays. CBS has stuck with NCIS and look where it got them? Number 1.

I also noticed in this week’s ratings that How I Met Your Mother – which is the darling of critics and airs on Monday nights and has since it began a few years back, had a rating of only 8.2 this past Monday and Accidentally on Purpose which received a lot of press before it started, had a rating of 7.2.

I think HIMYM has struggled in the ratings, but CBS has stuck by it.

Let’s hope CBS shows the same patience with Medium, even though it’s their 6th year, they never received promotion or a consistent schedule on NBC. It’s only just recently since CBS took over Medium they’ve received the promotion they have rightly deserved.

[...] numbers: Medium had overall ratings of 8.30 million viewers (1.9 18-49). The good news is that this week’s ratings were higher than last week’s, which were 7.7 million (1.8 18-49). The bad news is that Medium’s ratings actually fell from [...]
