Megan Joy Has No Regrets, Laughs About Brother’s Heckling

Megan Joy is no longer a contestant on American Idol but that hasn’t stopped her from repeating that she “doesn’t care” about judge, Simon Cowell’s opinions.  A lot of people think that her arrogant comment on this AMERICAN IDOL: Megan Joy (R) is eliminated on AMERICAN IDOL Wednesday, April 1 (8:00-9:00 PM ET / PT) on FOX. Also pictured: Kris Allen (L). CR: Michael Becker / FOXweek’s results show is what got her eliminated but she isn’t taking them back.  In an interview on Ellen (airing on Monday), she said "I really had no idea that it was going to upset him, but I meant it and I wouldn’t take it back… I care about the show and being in the competition. I didn’t care that Simon didn’t like my song."

People were also talking about the fact that Megan, when announced that she was in the bottom three, began flapping her arms like a bird and loudly “cawed” across the stage.  Ellen asked if she was mocking Idol.  "No, I just woke-up feeling like it was my time to go, and I just said to myself: ‘You know what, if I go, I’m going to go out with a bang and enjoy it,’" Megan said. "So I just tried to have a good attitude."

Megan also talked a bit about the controversy surrounding the “heckling” her brother dished out to Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi.  Megan thought it was “kind of funny” and added "I’m always proud of my brother — he’s my boy and like me, he just can’t help but be himself, and I wasn’t surprised at all that he did
it.  It cracked me up.  I was glad that Kara ended up taking it light-heartedly, though!"

If you hadn’t heard, Megan’s 21-year-old brother, C.J. Knudsen, yelled out, "Broken record!" while Kara was critiquing Joy’s rendition of "Turn Your Lights Down Low."  When Kara learned that he was directing his comment at her (she thought he might have been heckling Megan), she was surprised and asked why he said that.  He replied that “packaged artist” could be Kara’s “packaged phrase.”

Megan appeared to agree with her brother and said "well, we do hear that comment a lot, you know, and it kind of gets like, ‘All right, well, we already know that!’"

Yeah… I’m all for people being themselves and standing up for what they believe but there comes a time when you’ve got to know when to keep your mouth shut and I think they both could use a lesson in that…

I think Megan was being herself not a pretender
Sometimes Simon needs to hear something like that because on many ocassions he was agressive to some contentants too.

Thing is, she was AWFUL Tuesday night. By a wide margin the worst performance of the night, and her worst performance of the competition. It seemed like while she was singing she just didn’t care…
