Michael Jackson Memorial in Videos

Yesterday, was a tearful, heart-wrenching day for many, including myself, who watched the Michael Jackson Memorial that was televised yesterday. It was full of memories, videos and performances all in remembrance of the man affectionately known as the King of Pop. Though it was extremely sad, it was a chance for everyone to say their “thank yous” to Michael who touched the lives of not only many of our artists today but also everyone who sat on the couch and watched him grow up. Here are some videos of the event. Rest in peace, Michael.

Stevie Wonder – Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer:

It was sad at the beginning of his performance when Stevie Wonder said he’d hoped he’d never live the day to see Michael Jackson pass. He concluded his speech with saying that Michael will forever be in our hearts. Stevie performed a touching version of his song “Never Thought You’d Live in Summer.”

More after the jump!

Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson on Michael:

It was nice when Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson got on stage and spoke about Michael. Magic, who appeared in Michael’s video for “Remember the Time” spoke about how he got the role and about a funny story of when he went to dinner with him.

Jennifer Hudson – “Will You Be There”

Singer, Jennifer Hudson graced the stage and sang the song “Will You Be There” by Michael Jackson. It was definitely a powerful and meaningful performance and it’s always nice to see Jennifer. It got me crying when they showed the words towards the end of the song on the big screen.

Reverend Al Sharpton on Michael:

Rev. Al Sharpton gave an amazing speech. It as so powerful. He also addressed his children and said, "There was nothing strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with, but he dealt with it." I loved it.

Lionel Richie – “Jesus is Love”:

Lionel Richie got up on stage a gave a soulful performance of the song “Jesus is Love” by the Commodores. He did a good job and I was touched by it.

John Mayer – “Human Nature”

John Mayer paid tribute to Michael by playing his song “Human Nature” on the guitar while having back up singers sing the lyrics. It sounded great and John did a good job. It was an example of how people from different musical backgrounds can have respect for Michael.

Brooke Shield speaks about Michael:

Actress, Brooke Shields, who looked absolutely torn up, spoke about her relationship to Michael. She spoke about how much he loved to have a great time and that she could always have fun with him. She also revealed that his favorite song was “Smile” by Charlie Chaplin. I felt so sorry for her, she truly looked upset.

Jermaine Jackson – “Smile”

In tribute to Michael’s favorite song, “Smile” his brother, Jermaine Jackson performed it in his honor. The performance was very emotional and I’m glad he sang it for Michael.

Shaheen Jafargholi – “Who’s Loving You”

From Britain’s Got Talent, 12-year-old Shaheen Jafargholi sang “Who’s Loving You.” Boy, does that kid have a voice! Michael had invited him to join him on his “This Is It” tour before he passed away.

Usher - “Gone Too Soon”

Usher, who is very open about how Michael has influenced, sang the song “Gone Too Soon” and eventually went over to stand near Michael’s coffin. It was so unbelievably sad when he started crying. He did an amazing job at the song and I’m glad he got to do this in memory of his idol.

We Are the World”/“Heal The World”:

Kenny Ortega who was organizing Michael’s “This Is It” Tour, introduced the performance for “We Are the World” and “Heal the World.” Michael’s children, Paris, Prince Michael I and Prince Michael II all got on stage as well as the rest of the family.

Paris says goodbye to her father:

During the last part of the memorial, Paris, Michael’s daughter, was brave enough to say a few words about her father. It was absolutely heart-wrenching. it was the saddest segment of the show and I felt extremely sorry for her. She seems like a bright girl and it’s awful that she’s missing her daddy right now.
