Miguel Sandoval (D.A. Manuel Devalos on Medium) does voice work for cartoons and games. Did you know? Sandoval was recently interviewed by GameSpy.com for his work on the PC game Scarface: The World is Yours.
Excerpts from Scartenders (PC), an interview with actors Ricky Gervais, Wilmer Valderrama, Jason Mewes, Steven Bauer, and Miguel
Sandoval:
GameSpy: According to the producers, a lot of the actors doing voices in this game wanted to be in it because they love the movie. Is that the case for you guys?
Sandoval: Are you kidding? It’s Scarface! That movie has become such an icon for people today, even for people of my generation, and I’m an old guy. It’s like The Godfather series. The movie is just so out of hand. It’s bad guys being bad, it’s tough guys being tough, and we like to see that. In fact, it’s so over-the-top that I don’t think it’s much of a leap to go from the movie to a game.
GameSpy: Mr. Sandoval, how was working on Scarface different from the work you’ve done on such cartoons as The Boondocks, Batman Beyond and Jackie Chan Adventures?
Sandoval: For me, working on this was more like working on a dramatic, live-action role. Cartoons are so out there, so wild and crazy, while this was more realistic.
GameSpy: Now, everyone knows Wilmer is really into video games, but what about the rest of you?
Sandoval: I was when I was younger. I was into Pac-Man and Centipede. That’s how old I am. When I lived in the Hollywood Hills, and was a struggling actor, this guy who lived downstairs from me, who was also a struggling actor, he and I used to go down to the donut shop late at night and get donuts and play Centipede.
