In a very in-depth video interview that Milo Ventimiglia did with Collider.com, he took a brief moment (in video part 2) to talk about Gilmore Girls and how happy he was with the evolution of his character, Jess Mariano, through the series.
Milo Ventimiglia thinks the way his character line ended on Gilmore Girls was good. That Jess grew up and “turned into the kind of well-rounded guy a lot of us want to be.” Jess was no longer just a “punk” doing things selfishly, but he thought Jess had put a lot into his life and how to change himself.
Milo shares that when Jess returned to the show, to complete this storyline, that he thanked Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino, producers / writers for the series, for allowing him that. He thinks that Jess grew into a great guy, one able to replace anger in his life with stillness. But still with the Jess spunk.
I think what Milo says of Jess is very true – he turned out to be a great guy. Taking lead in his own life and doing what he loves. That takes a lot of courage. What do you think about how Jess changed?
If there was a Gilmore Girls reunion, would Milo reappear? That is a question Milo leaves hanging, saying “I don’t think there could be… I don’t know” to the prospect of the series continuing in some fashion.

Jess definitely grew up and how he did that was perfect. His character was amazing.. I vote for Jess to come back! lol

I have a hard time thinking of a way to bring Jess back in that wouldn’t be redundant. We’ve already had the role reversal where Jess is the rock that Rory bounces off of to get things turned around. What else can they do without sending either one backwards? I don’t think getting back together is going to happen. Maybe they could end up being forced to work together. There are some possibilities there.

I agree with Wonder Y. Jess knew Rory better than anyone. He was the one who got her back on track by makng her think about the situation she was really in. I also think he his the nail on the head where it came to Logan. In the long run I think Jess’s character was strong and just what Rory needed. Milo was the perfect actor for that character.

I always hated Logan. Since Jared got his own show, Jess should’ve reunited with Rory, but he was on the bedford diaries at the time…grrr maybe if a movie happens.

While i loved logan i always thought jess was the one for rory. because at first rory was good for him and helped him out to turn his life around and then when rory was all turned around and jess was on track he helped her out. Their relationship was amazing in that way. but if your a big fan of gg and jess you should get yourself a twitter account and watch the gilmore action because its almost like they have created starshollow there and ive been watching very closely and it looks like jess and rory are on their way to being together so i reccomend you check it out and also make urself a gg character we could always use more.

Theres no point to a gilmore girls re-union without Jess. It’s as simple as that. But i think we can understand why Milo would be reluctant to do it. Working with exes can always be tricky.

In my perfect ending Rory & Jess meet again on Lorelai & Luke’s wedding and they fall in love with each other again. For me if they’re not planning on bringing back together Rory & Jess, the Gilmore Girls movie for me is pointless.

I really liked the way Jess changed and kind of grew up. If you think about it him and Rory changed roles. When Jess was first in Gilmore girls he was the one that didnt really know where he was going and was a bit lost. Rory wanted to help him but he wouldn’t let her in, even though I believe he wanted to. In the later seasons when he appears Rory is no longer at Yale and the one feeling lost and unsure. The differnece is that Rory lets Jess in and help her realise what she really wants.

I THINK IN THE MOVIE OF GG WHICH MUST HAPPEN SOON THAT LORALIE AND LUKE SHOULD GET MARRIED REALLY BIG BLOW OUT BANG WITH THE WHOLE TOWN AND JESS SHOWIN UP FOR LUKE AND MAYBE A SMALL RECONNECT AS FRIENDS WITH RORY BUT LOGAN COMIN BACK TO TAKE RORY AWAY SINCE SHE IS DONE GETTIN HER CAREEER STARTED AND LOGAN AND RORY PLANNIN FOR THIER WEDDING NOW AFTER HE STARTS AN INTERNET BUSINESS WITH RORY THAT MAKES MILLIONS.. I AM A BUG FAN AND SAD TO SEE IT GO I ONLY HOPE MY DAUGHTER FEELS OUR RELATIONSHIP IS STILL THAT WAY BY THE END OF COLLEGE. WE WATCH TOGETHER EVERYDAY RERUNS ON ABC FAMILY…. I WANT MORE FINISH THE STORY
