Mischa Barton is reportedly in a trademark battle with Australian company Mischa Accessories.
Barton was trying to trademark her name, signature and logo in Australia, but Mischa Accessories in Queensland opposed her efforts to register the trademark with IP Australia.
Singer Katy Perry recently had the same issue with Sydney fashion designer Katie Perry earlier this year – and lost her battle.
Lawyers on either side are not talking to the press at this stage.
Mischa has a line of handbags – Mischa Barton Handbags – which feature her initials “MB” in the logo. I hope for her sake they don’t take away the right for her to protect her own designs – the part that makes it uniquely hers.
