Dina Lohan defended daughter Lindsay Lohan Thursday, while slamming her ex-husband Michael Lohan for claiming the family was planning an intervention for Lindsay for an alleged addiction to prescription pills.
”I don’t go — like my ex on national television and make things up. He’s estranged from Lindsay; he doesn’t know what’s going on in her life. Michael doesn’t talk to her,” Dina Lohan told the New York Post.
Dina Lohan was speaking at a conference where her new shoe line collaboration with I Love Shoes! was formally announced.
And the fact that Michael Lohan doesn’t play much of a role in their children’s lives has Dina Lohan justifably angry at her ex.
“I’ve had full custody of all my children for the last 10 years. He has been incarcerated for some of that time, so whatever is going on in Lindsay’s personal life is our business. And for him getting paid to say things about her when he’s five months behind in child support is wrong,” Dina Lohan told the New York Post.
”I can’t change Michael to make him do the right thing — that’s up to him and God. But it is hurtful for a child for her own father, whom she has no relationship with, to say things in public about her like that,” Lohan continued.
When asked by the newspaper if Lindsay has an addiction problem, Dina said she has no idea what her ex is talking about and can’t comment on everything he says.
Lindsay’s mom said Lindsay also was hurt by criticism for her role in the Ungaro fashion line.
”The critics can say whatever they want, but Lindsay is a genius,” Dina Lohan said.
Lindsay and Ali Lohan both play a limited role in the new shoe line, Dina said, noting that Shoe-han won’t be the name of the line.
”We are not going to announce the name so every Google and MySpace buys the domain name. Lindsay is signed to Ungaro, but she will definitely have input because she is so talented,” Dina said.
More than anything, Dina wants the press to let her personal life stay her personal life.
“Leave Lindsay alone. Let her be a real 23-year-old. Let her grow, and let her artistic abilities flourish. Stop judging the Britneys and the Lindsays. They are very creative girls, and that is a gift from a higher power of God,” Dina said.

A mother instinct is to protect her child in every possible harm her child would endure, and lindsay’s mom is one of those great mother who would do in her power just to keep her daughter away from any pain!!!!!!!

Mom Dina is a great mother! I agree with all the things she said.She’s a good woman!
I agree Michelle. In the past few weeks Lindsay has been working really hard, she went from Texas to NY, then to Singapore then to Paris. The American press gave her a really hard time for the fashion show but in Europe the reviews were mixed and NOT as brutal. The US appeared to to judging Lindsay on her past and the “how dare she” fashion snobs.
The girl is talented and the only person in her family bringing her down is her awful father. He can sure pick his moment, when the girl is down and vulernable, he kicks her!! This guy is a fraudster and a liar, the sooner he disappears the better.
Lindsay would get knocked down no matter what her achievements are, the sales of her designs will hopefully prove all the critics wrong!! Also for her father to go public with Lindsays problems was wrong as this could easy push someone over the edge. I support Lindsay and wish her well, she maybe did look a bit weary in Paris but she was probably really tired working and also hosting in singapore. She has been working really hard and should be given a chance instead of cruel people ready to criticise her and make a living out of constantly putting her down.GOOD LUCK LINDSAY!! M XX
