It’s unfortunate that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie didn’t win awards at last night’s Critics’ Choice Awards, but I’m not too disappointed. At least they were nominated which is a nod to their work for sure, and they were up against some excellent competition. I’ve been irked sometimes by particular actors or actresses winning something if it’s someone I don’t care for, but the nominees is all the categories were very deserving – if Brad and Angelina have to lose out on an award, at least it’s to someone worthy!
(Also, I have to say that although some people have expressed shock at Slumdog Millionaire having so much success at the awards, the movie is truly excellent. I was very impressed when I saw it and it is so worth your while to watch it if you get the chance!)

Still, win or lose, it’s hard to feel too badly for either Brad or Angelina. After all, they both get to go home with each other and they’ll be too busy with their kids to have time to be disappointed! And let’s not forget that the Golden Globe Awards air on Sunday night. I really can’t see them missing that event, so we’ll get to see Brad and Angelina on the red carpet in just a short time.

Speaking of the red carpet, check out the pandemonium that is caused when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrive somewhere. I laughed at the off-camera girl screaming Angie’s name!
Eventually there will probably be some entertainment show coverage available, at which point I’ll post those as well.
Meanwhile, for those of you who, like me, enjoy knowing what everyone is wearing, the details of Angelina Jolie’s red carpet style are over here!

Sherry, could you comment on the “Anne Hathaway” speech controversy. I’ve been hearing that Angie made a nasty face at Anne when she was giving her acceptance speech and rushed home after work to watch it on youtube and could NOT believe people were saying that. I dont know if I’m missing something but I did not see her supposed “nasty” face. Video is on laineygossip.com if you want to see it.
In the excitement, glamor and dazzle of the awards season, I sometimes forget that Angelina and Brad want to be remembered for their humanitarian legacy and their family more than anything else. I’m sure that their work as actors (and as producer in Brad’s case) will be acknowledged someday, even if posthumously. Of course when they do superlative work while they’re alive, we fans want it acknowledged.
In the movie industry, critics awards are good only for momentum and buzz. Even the Golden Globes are just a bit more than that. The awards that really count are the Academy (Oscars) and guilds (producers, directors, writors, actors). They’re the awards that have the clout, garner respect, translate into projects getting made, and get you a higher salary.
Not that momentum and buzz are something to sneeze at – they can be the final factor that pushes you to get an Oscar nomination (Slumdog Millionaire), or slow your momentum (CCOBB). It’s bad that Button came up empty last night, but if it comes up empty at the GG, that will be near death. But certain death is only at the Oscars – remember Crash winning BP over Brokeback Mountain? Even the Crash filmmakers were totally astonished.
InContention says this is the Best ‘Button’ TV spot of the year…maybe the best TV spot of the year period. Though it could have been longer.

Sherry, I really have to disagree about the handling of the awards. Angelina has been up for three movies and never won(AMH, C, and Wanted)for 2008. Brad should have won for the work in Jesse,BAR or CCBB. I believe the Golden Globes will dismiss their work as will the Oscars. Yes, Heath Ledgers work as a madman in The Dark Knight was good, as Sean Penn in Milk but all those accolades for Slumdog. No way. Just my rather dismal opinion.
I am a little sad they didn’t win as well, but overall, I am impressed with all the nominees. Sure, I’m sad Brad or Angie didn’t win, but I’m happy there was so many good noms this year.
I also love to see Angelina wearing white. I love her elegant yet natural red carpet style. What I mean by natural is that she tends to wear very earthy colors and dresses that aren’t what some would call “glam.” She just lets her natural beauty show through. And to me, that is so much more beautiful than someone who cakes on the makeup and overdoes their dress and jewelry. It’s natural, and to me, that’s the truest form of sexy!!!
Nicole, Angie did smile, though you could tell maybe she was disappointed that she didn’t win. She obviously didn’t look happy. She wasn’t the only one. Kate Beckinsale also looked disappointed. I’ve observed this before from other non-winning nominated actors/actresses in years past, and Angie’s not the first. I think it’s just a big deal because it’s Angelina. Sometimes, the public expects so much from her because she is a humanitarian and we hear all the time that she’s a nice person. But hey, she can’t always be beaming all the time.
Anyway, there are pics of them chatting at the event, after Anne won. So, really, it’s no biggie. And Angie has a lot of respect for Anne. She interviewed her for Ingenue magazine (I believe it was that), and she included her in one of her documentaries.
btw who’s turn is it to work now, angie or brad? I’m guessing angie since brad did the tarantino movie. ahh doesn’t matter as long as they’re still making films lol.
kinda bummed they didn’t win. but at the same time they were in great company. meryl was superb in doubt (didn’t see anne hathaways film)!! didn’t see milk but I’m sure sean penn was great as always.
speaking of which, would luv to see sean penn and angie in a film. that would be amazing!
angelina looked dissapointed that’s all, so did kate beckinsale, it’s a normal reaction, the clip (s) were barley 3 seconds, blown out of all proportion by the media and haters who bully angelina.
she is also wearing a new sort of foundation that gives a ‘shiny’ appearance. JMHO. PEACE!
Loren, I am with you, I miss seeing how big all the children are getting.
Well put Sherry. I saw Slumdogs and Milk and let me just preface by saying both are excellent bodies of work. Sean Penn is outstanding in Milk, he totally embodies the character. And Slumdogs is absolutely wonderful. I’m sad they both didn’t win but yet fully understand that this year is a hard year because there is SO much great work. Even Clint Eastwood and Kate Winslet and brilliant Heath Ledger give outstanding performances. It’s going to be tough. I feel Brad and Angie both know and excel with all this talent too. Thats why they’re both stars in every sense of the word.
thanks for the link sherry. do you see it? i was right, she wore some light color!
Loren, all good points.
I will be yelling my heart out if I was there too just like that girl yelling Angelina’s name. I can’t blame her, Brad & Angie are big names in HW & draws lots of crowds fans & not fans.
God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
It is good to win, but so many good actors never even get nominated. Since there can only be one winner its a long shot for all the contenders. For me, they are beautiful, gracious, just wonderful to see. I am always glad to see them (anywhere) but especially on the RC. It would be great if they won but if ever any couple had a lot to be grateful for, it’s them. They have all those darling children and they (Angie and Brad) are young, good looking and do good work professionally and charitably. Life is good for them. Now if we could only see a picture of the children. I know, I am glad they are having privacy, still I really miss the children and I would love to see the twins, almost 6 months they must be adorable :)
Thanks for all the nice pictures, I am enjoying them so much.
hmm, millions of dollars spent on giving awards. I wish the Pulitzer had that kind of funding. Not only that, they get paid millions to do the movie so why be so adamant about who gets an award or not? How many times have minorities been screwed out of awards because of, as you say, the “POLITICAL statement.” Your opinion is not everyone else’s and you shouldn’t damn others because it doesn’t match yours. That’s rather childish. Brad and Angie are no underdogs because at the end of the day, they still get offered many roles and still get overly paid.
