Did Natalie Portman Break Up Her ‘Black Swan’ Choreographer’s Relationship?

UPDATE: Natalie and Benjamin are now engaged. (And having a baby.)

Natalie Portman clearly worked hard to achieve her performance in Darren Aronofsky‘s Black Swan. And it looks like someone was working very hard on her as well. According to tomorrow’s Page Six Magazine, Natalie’s Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied left his ballerina girlfriend to date the film star. And worked very hard to win her affections.

According to Page Six Mag:

The source tells of Millepied leaving dancers to figure out steps on their own, forcing them to improvise as the cameras began rolling.

“They would go to do their shots and wouldn’t know any of the choreography because he was so involved with helping ‘Natalie, Natalie, Natalie,’ all the time,” the Black Swan insider says. “There was a lot of drama.”

Insiders say they saw the relationship coming a mile away. “[Benjamin’s] really social climbing,” says a dancer who worked on the film. “I don’t want to judge. Maybe they have a great relationship; maybe they really like each other. But knowing Benjamin, I don’t think that’s how it is. Doing the movie was a great opportunity, but some people need to appreciate their achievement and not become too greedy. He has a little bit of that going on.”

The insider says that Portman and Millepied kept their affair under wraps while filming, but that news leaked out anyway. “They did try to hide it. They were very on the down low—you never saw them kissing on the set until the very end, when he would give her a quick peck,” she says. “It’s just unfortunate for Benjamin’s ex-girlfriend.”

Aside from breaking up Millepied’s relationship, the relationship is weirdly parallel to the storyline of Black Swan. (Hopefully it’s not as unhealthy as the one between Natalie’s character and her ballet instructor in the movie.)
