New Kids On The Block Reunion Rumors Quashed
New Kids On The BlockFormer New Kids On The Block singer Danny Woods has dismissed reports of a boy-band reunion, insisting there has been “no discussion” about a new tour.
The group, which sold over 50 million albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s, was alleged to be reforming after their official website – which was previously dormant – became fully functional and invited fans to sign up to the site for more information.
But, in a posting on social networking site MySpace.com, Woods claims he is unaware of any reunion and is focusing on his solo career.
He writes, “I wanted to address the rumors of the NKOTB Reunion Tour. There has been no talk of this and you are getting it from source directly. Never say never, and you can’t believe everything you read. On another note my solo record will be released in Australia in March.”
The Step by Step hit makers – consisting of band members Wood, Jonathan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre and Jordan Knight – split in 1994 after 10 years together.
What New Kids On the Block Tour? Yet another sham – by the woman……. Geez!!!!!!!!

One of the most popular boy bands from the 1980s and early1990s, New Kids On the Block, have announced that their tour is cancelled. This is disappointing news to New Kids on the Block fans because People.com just announced over the weekend that the rumors of them going on tour were true.
New Kids on the Block sold more than 50 million albums and were popular worldwide until the group broke up in 1994. The former New Kids members have not went unnoticed over the years though. The oldest member of the group, Jonathan Knight, is a real estate developer. Donnie Wahlberg has enjoyed a very successful acting career and Joey McIntyre has continued with his music career with his CD, Talk to Me. Jonathan Knight’s brother, Jordan, continues to record music and he was seen not too long ago on the VH1 reality show, The Surreal Life. Danny Wood has also continued in the music business as a record producer.
My generation of music was the late 1970s and 1980s, so I remember how popular boy bands were during that time, especially the late 1980s. New Kids on the Block paved the way for many of the boy bands of the 1990s. Writing about Kids on the Block brings back memories of other groups that are no longer together that I miss.
ABBA
Although I was very young when ABBA was really popular, I remember at the age of 10 asking for one of their albums for Christmas. I had seen the commercial on television for their album and I immediately fell in love with the group. Today I still listen to ABBA a lot and my son is a big ABBA fan also. ABBA was more popular in other countries than the United States but some of their songs, such as Dancing Queen and The Winner Takes It All, were chart toppers in the U.S. The members of the group have made it known over the years though that they have no desire to do a reunion tour so we just have to keep ABBA living on through their CDs and those old albums!
Warrant
Well, well, well, my sources tell me that the Clod just turned in the following resignation letter. G’bye Clod!!!!
Hey all, I am sorry to say that I have to depart Harmony at this
time…I have forwarded all the contacts, reports, and info I have
done for the event to Candy and Betty and all the website files. I
have talked to all the artists and bands and filled them in as well.
Candy and Betty also have my broken down agenda to follow to get them
through the event. I have been spread very thin latley and have
recently been offered a position as a freelance photographer on New
Kids on the Block reunion tour, my brother has done security for them
in the past and I was honored to be asked; their first concert is in
New York on April 4th. I just can’t swing doing both the event and
this type of event. I just want you all to know that it has been
great working with you, and I am sure that this event will be a huge
success and all those crazies out there will eat their words.
I will still be around Taylorville and you all I hope are on my
myspace. Please stay in touch and it was once again a pleasure
working with you all.
Claude
I’m in Birmingham and am looking forward to attending Sloss on May 10th. I am also going to the annual Crawfish Boil that is held in downtown Birmingham. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think to call or email or post to the event people for the Boil and ask how many tickets they have sold. In fact, each year, I do not even purchase my tickets to the Boil until a few days before. Same thing with City Stages that is held here.
Also, not sure why anyone has a problem if someone makes money selling their wares. Their perogative. If Blue or purplebutterfly or whoever else you have been talking about, make money, why does that make some of you mad? Is this the U.S. or what? I must have missed the point.
If you want to go the the SPC at Sloss, buy a ticket like everyone else. If you don’t want to go, so be it. It’s a free country. I, for one, will be going because I love events that are held at Sloss.
Hope everything gets ironed out (still confused about why anything needs ironing out, but for you diehards), but in the meantime, I will be looking forward to attending a lot of great events this summer in Birmingham. We ARE the Magic City after all.
Peace
From what all I have been reading, it seems that there have been some questions answered and some dodged. I am having a hard time understanding why a fansite would not allow questions to be asked. Why a fansite would have their moderators to become a part in organizations because of a conflict of interest, that does exsist. Nothing wrong with donating but being a part of something that creates anomosity with the members. It is quite obvious that the mods side with these members that are part of these groups.
There have been many that have allowed bluez to advertise her website on the boards and even give her a thread all it’s own, when indeed, she is in business for profit. This bluez person has posted that she was out of work until she started her business because of Taylor. That her business has taken off, in so many words. She is in it for profit. That is no secret. She has stated this on open forums.
No one has mentioned that there is an unveiling of Taylor’s purple jacket and a shirt at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame an hour or two from the convention during the early morning of the date of the convention. Of course, Taylor’s grandmother will be there, or so it is said. On this thread that is given exclusively to bluez, it is stated that she is now on the Ala. music hall of Fame’s website. She is having a private harmonica lesson event for kids right there. The cost is $20. or so, and this includes the cost of admission to the AMHOF. She has asked all the Soul Patrol that are coming to the convention to attend her “event” and has made sure that she tells everyone that there is plenty of time to get back to the convention before the party starts. So, she is getting free advertising on fansites. She is getting snug with T’s grandmother. She is making money off of T’s name. She will probably say that she is donating to something. LOL.
As stated by someone, a donation does not have to be but a small percentage. Also, she is probably getting a big discount from the AMHOF for the admission price, if not for free for all of those attending her event. Bet she will be selling all her Cat clothing and her jewelry and harmonicas and on and on. What do you bet that she is setting up a booth at the convention and she is FOR profit under the guise of a charity.
I just read that purplebutterfly has created a thread on a fansite (since this blog started) and has all of a sudden stated that she wishes that NO Soul Patrollers buy any of her jewelry online. That she is just in it for the charity, support the troups. Why then, does she make it available to purchase if she does not want to sell it? Also, by now, she has made a ton, I am sure.
All issues of the members of a fansite should have the right to have their questions answered. If someone wants to know how many tickets have been sold to date, someone needs to answer the question. All this talk about email and pms is ridiculous. This should be above board and it is the RIGHTS of the members. Funny, it is allowed to advertise it but not to be questioned. COVERUP. What a shame. Any desention to the Soul Patrol is caused by those that have become secretive. Those in the administrative capacity that have deleted, modified posts and when people continue to want answers, they get banned from the sites. Now, tell me, WHO is acting like a bad Soul Patrol fan? Money made on these sites are incredible or they would not be there. I had an owner of a website tell me that they did not attend Taylor’s concerts and really did not like him very much. How about them apples? Loyalty? Please tell me that it is not all about the money cause I need a good laugh! Obvious.
Actually, at both sites where I’m a mod (TMS and
NESP) we do ask people to take it private if people are being accused, and the information seems too personal for a public forum that anyone can visit. It just seems more fair to all
concerned. We have allowed discussions where
people are just looking for info and the admins of
the charities have answered their questions.
Not the first time I’ve been accused of wearing rose colored glasses and won’t be the
last ;) I’m unclear on what “right thing” you are
wanting me to do?
For the record, I just officially joined Harmony, since I just recently made the decision to attend the convention. I was semi-involved
early on, but didn’t really participate as I didn’t think I’d be able to attend.
Clingy, my previous post didn’t address anything in your post because it wasn’t intended to address anything in your post.
I made no statement in my post about whether you can trust the organizers or not, or about “the goings on with some of the key organizers”. Nor did I say anything about whether Claudia or anyone else at Harmony is “dodging questions” or giving out “marketing answers”.
The only reason for my post was to address a few specific questions and comments that I felt needed to be addressed.
At the risk of offending you, Clingy, I would like to point something out. Your post did the same thing that you say Claudia does. While you did address me by name, you did not address anything I said in my post directly or indirectly. Instead, you talked about points that you wanted to talk about, even though nothing in my post addresses those points.
Yes, answeredalready – but it took the discussion here to get some of those questions answered – and there is more to it than just about getting the questions answered, it is about trust in the organizers. Most people do not know about the goings on with some of the key organizers and it was just as important to many of us that they did before making any plans for May. Trust is a hard thing to get back once it is lost, not impossible, but really hard in most cases. I just don’t think this is one of them.
It took all of this to get Claudia to speak at all after how many months of dodging questions? As I said before, I have no doubt a lot of people have put a lot of time in to this, but had Claudia just been up front – or Candy (where is the “president” anyway?) or had she not as she has on the boards regarding her other venture (MWM), her association with the cat people, etc… than we would not be having this conversation. I have watched a handful of SP members WANT this to all be as it seemed so badly that they were not willing to ask any questions at all. I have watched others ask and have watched their questions be avoided or “marketing answers” given. Even if everything Claudia has been saying is true, how would we know? How would we trust her with all we know about her?
Regardless – at least it made them start answering some of the questions that members have. And it gave us a place – where WE could be honest and get the information out there – something that would never be allowed on most of the boards…
I’ve noticed several questions/comments that have been made in the last few posts that have already been answered. I don’t know if these answers were deliberately ignored or accidentally overlooked. So I thought I would answer them again.
For the record, I am not affiliated with Harmony for the Soul, Modern Whomp Magazine, Candy, Claudia, or anyone else that has been named here. I have no inside knowledge as to how the Soul Patrol Convention has been put together, nor will I be attending.
I have had some of the same questions/thougts that many others here have asked/commented about. However, answers/reponses have already been given but apparently need to be repeated.

“You are saying that the private party is open to the Soul Patrol now? Then, it needs to be changed on the above information that was posted on boards to say that it is included at no cost. It is stated that it is a private party.”
I have seen Claudia answer this at least twice in these comments, plus three or four more times on other sites. From what I’ve seen, her response has not changed.
At 10 PM, the Soul Patrol Convention volunteers are invited to ONA’s Music Room for a Volunteer Party. This party is private and, as stated in a previous post, is being paid for out-of-pocket by Candy and Claudia.
At 10:30 PM, the Pub Crawl will begin for those who have bought tickets for it. The last stop is ONA’s Music Room, at which point those in the Pub Crawl will join the the volunteers already there. They will then party together until the bar closes at 2 AM.

“19 Entertainment? Why? They are not affiliated with Taylor and did a horrible job. So…TPTB will be a part of this? Shame.”
I don’t see where Claudia said anything about 19 Entertainment being a part of the Convention. All she said was that 19 Entertainment was one of many media groups that had been sent press credentials and press releases regarding the event.
On another site, Claudia mentioned that the same package and informaiton had been sent to over 80 media sites. 19 Entertainment is a media site, and a very large one at that. According to Wikipedia, they are “a group of over 20 companies and has some of the entertainment industry’s top creative personnel.” Love them or hate them, I think you would be shooting yourself in the foot by not sending them the information. It’s up to them to decide what to do with that information.

“19 ENTERTAINMENT LA and England? What in the world? Why would they be notified about all this? They have nothing to do with Taylor, he actually refused to sign with them after his American Idol contractual obligations were finished. I have this on good authority, from Taylor Hicks himself.”
Actually, that’s not quite true. Taylor did sign with 19 Recordings, which is the label arm of 19 Entertainment. And before someone says that’s not true, keep in mind that 19 Recordings subcontracts most of the Idols they sign to Arista and J Records.
I think there was one more question that had already been answered, but now I can’t find the question. If I find it again, I may post a follow-up.
Liz – Why bring it all out here and create drama? Plenty of SP members asked this group these questions over and over and they were never answered. The ONLY reason the VP addressed what little she did is BECAUSE it was allowed to be discussed here. You know as well as we do that anytime a post is made that the “admins” feel might “upset” their board, the post(s) are deleted or the thread is locked. You want to keep things more positive for Taylor?? Do you think Taylor would want his fans to continue being misled by any group – especially one that is trying to put together the first Soul Patrol Convention?!?!? OMG! You are kidding, right? You think we have done a disservice to this group “that has worked so hard…” please! It is people like you that have done your members a disservice by NOT allowing this or any other group be challenged in open forum. Besides, everyone knows you are part of this group so why would you actually do the right thing?
Was there a sale on “rose colored glasses” recently?!?!? Geeze!
Tayfan1,
You said this in your message –
Two weeks before the event we will be having ads in the Black and White paper (Birmingham’s leading entertainment publication) and launching a radio (blitz) campaign through the Rick and Bubba show. Also press credentials and Press Releases have been sent to Fox 6, 19 ENTERTAINMENT the L.A. Offices and the England headquarters, Access Hollywood, ETOnline, and EOnline and Extra.
19 ENTERTAINMENT LA and England? What in the world? Why would they be notified about all this? They have nothing to do with Taylor, he actually refused to sign with them after his American Idol contractual obligations were finished. I have this on good authority, from Taylor Hicks himself.
Every knowledgeable TH fan knows what they tried to do to Taylor. They are highway robbers! They ARE American Idol and by the assessment of the last year after Taylor won AI, he was slandered, mistreated, dissed and insulted publicly by ALL of them who are involved with 19 Entertainment. I know now that what you are doing is making a direct profit from these people by using Taylor Hicks name and that of his fan base, the Soul Patrol. Shame on you, I’m appalled. Any of the SP who are reading this, I hope you listen up.
I’ve been involved with several charity projects
through the Soul Patrol and the groups running
them have helped lots of great causes in Taylor’s honor. I feel the efforts I’ve donated to have been run professionally and that the donations went to where they were supposed to. JMO but I really feel if people have specific issues with specific groups they should discuss their concerns privately with the admins of the group. It would reflect better on the Soul Patrol, and certainly keep things way more positive for Taylor. We all have the love of Taylor and his music in common, and are like a big (dysfunctional) family. Let’s put the FUN
back in dysfunctional!!
As for the Party for the Patrol in May, a lot of
work has gone into planning and organizing this
charity event by a small group of devoted people. Anytime a bunch of fans get together it’s a fun time. If we can raise money for worthy causes at the same time, why not support the effort? If Taylor does make an appearance, it’s just the icing on the cake. I understand some
people had concerns about how everything will
work financially but many of those questions have
already been answered, and I know the admins
are available to answer specifics. Why bring it all
out here and create drama?
I’ve read the messages here and I too, am concerned and frankly, confused.
When it was mentioned on some of the fan sites, I thought it was a great idea. I figured since it was a convention for Taylor’s fans, so that we could all get together, celebrate being TH fans and get to know one another, it would be a great thing to do. However, even though I’m all for charity, I felt that a SP Convention should not be involved in that. Sorry if that sounds selfish, but that’s how I see it.
The TH fan sites have so many projects and charities that don’t seem to have anything to do with TH, that I’m very leery of them. They claim too, but I don’t hear Taylor talking about it. I don’t like the fact that Taylor won’t be making an appearance. I don’t like the set up that I’ve just read, the exclusion of fans unless they pay big bucks. We’re talking about a two day weekend that could cost as much as $1,000 or more. When you add the cost of every little thing, plus lodging and travel, it’s very pricey and for what? Bands I’ve never heard of, other than two of them and they play for about 20 minutes? What is that all about? Why wouldn’t they just hire LMBO for the entire thing? Why all these other bands?
Also, I’ve been reading the boards and have seen the attitude of some of those involved, one person in particuliar. She claims a close friendship with Taylor’s family, one person in his family intimately, in fact, she brags about it. I find that very unsettling. Why you ask? Because I’ve read her messages on the boards she joined and where she advertises her “charity” products and she’s mostly negative about everything Taylor has done and even who he was dating. It’s way strange. Why would I support this person by going to a SP convention where she’s part of it? I won’t do it.
I’ll save my money for Taylor’s tour, his DVD and his new CD. I’ll continue to support (directly) the charities he endorses publicly, I think that makes far better sense. Why are all these people involved in all these charities? I think it’s their job, they’ve made it their career and they use Taylor’s name to accomplisht that. I don’t like it at all. The supposed 100 tickets that are sold, I feel for those women, perhaps they have nothing better to do, but I won’t be there.
Well according to my math they haven’t sold over 100 tickets and that’s not good for this type of convention. Either Taylor has lost all of his fans or there are serious concerns regarding this.
Is Taylor even aware of the bad ticket sales and why isn’t he endorsing this or any of the charity websites involved? Does anyone here know anyone who can talk to Taylor’s Management and inform them about this? I would think since his name is attached to this that he would have the right to know.
Do the bands know they are only performing for about 100 people and how many volunteers are there? Shampatrol and others have brought up some good points and I almost purchased 4 tkt pkgs to this event. I’m glad I didn’t.
Think I’ll pass and take my family elsewhere.
And to this Claudia, I have seen you post many times on the boards and you seem to think that you are well connected with Taylor and his people. If you are so connected then why isn’t he directly involved? After all this is HIS fan base.
And where the hell are my magazines?
btw-Claudia if you only have about 100 people showing for this thing you are nuts if you think Entertainment Tonight and those others are going to give this thing any attention. And where is the money comming from to advertise on the Rick and Bubba show and the others you speak of? Media isn’t cheap.
Sounds like this convention is in the red and will OWE instead of Pay out.
And where are you going to attempt to market your wares? On Taylor’s fan sites, of course! I feel as though the SP is being used as a profit center for a lot of people nowadays. I’m not buying it. I’ll skip this convention, travel to Taylor’s shows and send a check to his favorite charities, directly. I think that’s the better route.
19 Entertainment? Why? They are not affiliated with Taylor and did a horrible job. So…TPTB will be a part of this? Shame.
Yes, questions have been answered according to the thread heading. However, Jeanne has not forbidden us to ask questions in regards to other matters. You are just ducking the questions. FYI, the Magazine delivery question has been asked and emails have been sent to you with NO response. You are skirting the issues.
You are saying that the private party is open to the Soul Patrol now? Then, it needs to be changed on the above information that was posted on boards to say that it is included at no cost. It is stated that it is a private party. Also, what does the PGA have to do with the Soul Patrol Convention? Again, you are off topic in saying that as you have stated that the magazine issue is. It is insignificant to hear about what has gone on in other functions which have no baring or affiliation to the soul patrol convention. There are people that will be going that have hours upon hours with nothing planned. They are spending their hardearned money to what? Learn to play a harmonica? Play games? Not my cup of tea! Sounds like childs’ play. Just seems like you are depending on those that have paid alot of money to come to the convention, to hand out more money for donations. I am thru with this. Just seems so vague. No answers on how many tickets have been sold so far. Obviously, if you are hinting that 200 would be a sell out and you have approx 140 tickets going out…then only a few have actually been sold and I did not even count the people that organized this…or should I say, disorganized this. That is all. I am thru.
We here at Harmony are happy to announce that we have 50 ticket packages ready to ship next week many are for two people about 5 have upgraded to become SP Sponsors. Also an estimate of about 40 tickets for the festival alone will be going out as well.
Our official Poster is going up in all the bars and clubs listed on the schedule as well as Zydeco, and Open Door Cafe, Blue Monkey, and Bailey’s pub. Also we will be placing them in co-ed dorms at Auburn and Alabama Universities, and the Halls of Hoover and Homewood high schools. The silent auction announcement has also been sent to all Rotary Clubs in all counties within 50 miles of Birmingham.
All of our bands will have our poster link on their MySpace pages by week’s end. Also each band will have 100 event postcards to distribute to their fans at gigs they perform between now and the event date.
This announcement is all that will be addressing the “ticket sales” question, we will not be giving running totals weekly of ticket sales. We here at Harmony want to focus on bringing all elements together for this event so it can be enjoyed by all and much needed funds can be raised for the charities involved. When we sell out or get close to it we will let you know. Two hundred people can fit comfortably in the convention room at the Double Tree so when we get close to that number we will let you know.
Our ticket page has only been published since December and with the Holidays, tax season, and just the regular state of the current economy we expected things to start of slow and then pick up pace closer to the event, which it has…we have gotten a lot of traffic to our site, so thank you all for the support.
Guess the old adage is true “there is no such thing as bad publicity.”
Hope to see you all there.
TF1
The answer about the party has been posted in this thread. Also I have volunteered for other charity events and over 40 PGA Golf tournaments and each has had a volunteer party for their staff and volunteers…Actually many of the golf tournamens tie them in with their pairing party you know like the one Taylor performed at with LMBO last year before the Regions Tournament. Those are normally open bar and free food ours is not BTW, also the general public attending the tournament are not invited it is usually a private event PGA policy.
Also as stated above the location of the party ONA’s Music Room is the last stop on the pub crawl that the SP will be on so they will be joining us.
The DVD has been annouced on all fansites months ago, we will also have comilation CD of all the artists and T-shirts, bumper stickers, pens, and other merchandise to raise more more funds for the charity.
This thread is about the convention so I thought from the heading. So any questions regarding Modern Whomp Magazine should be directed to that companies website.
Backstage interview for DVD? What the heck is that? Is this something else that they’re going to try to get us to buy? I’ve been on the fence about this convention, but now my mind is made up. No way would I go near this. It does have disaster written all over it. You’re right, SP wake up, we are way smarter than this! Feline frenzy, yikes, i remember her.

(This is what was posted about the convention. There are alot of people suspect about this last item at 10pm for four hours till 2am which is a private PAID FOR *by whom* party for the volunteers. So, they are not getting paid, per se, but, they are being entertained in a private club with a private party with no telling how many drinks and food and a band? Look who benefits from the convention after all. Still, no one will say how many tickets are sold. Oh, and the time slot TBD-seems like they want everyone to think Taylor will be there in order to lure people to buying tickets. IF Taylor were going to be there, the whole thing would be sold out. Why wouldn’t they know and tell everyone? Just so many questions not answered and Tayfan1 you never answered WHY your hard copy magazine never was mailed to the people that purchased it months ago.)
