“I just read that purplebutterfly has created a thread on a fansite (since this blog started) and has all of a sudden stated that she wishes that NO Soul Patrollers buy any of her jewelry online. That she is just in it for the charity, support the troups. Why then, does she make it available to purchase if she does not want to sell it? Also, by now, she has made a ton, I am sure.”
I have seen the purplebutterfly thread you are referring to, and I think she made a mistake in saying some of the things she said. But is she really doing something so horribly wrong?
Let’s assume that purplebutterfly only created the troop drive as a way to drive business to her jewerey business. How is that any different than what a lot of companies do every day?
Take ExxonMobil for example. They made a large donation to Idol Gives Back last year and it’s already been announced on the show that they have given the same amount this year. Do you think ExxonMobil made the donation only out of the kindess of their heart? Or do you think they made the donation because upwards of 30 million people watch the show every week and many millions more will read about their donation in blogs and news articles before it’s over?
I used to do a lot of volunteer work for a public TV station. The station would provide lunch and dinner for their volunteers by making arrangements with local restaurants. What did the restaurants get in return for delivering meals for the volunteers? They got several on-air thanks. What probably cost between $100 – $300 to provide netted them advertising that would have cost many thousands of dollars otherwise. Do you think all of the restaurants would have provided the free meals without the on-air thanks/advertising?
So what if purplebutterfly has a jewelry business? Does that take away from what the troop drive is doing? Are we to dip her in scalding water because she is doing the same thing that a lot of businesses do?
Also, is it at all possible she started the troop drive because it was really something she wanted to do for our troops and had nothing to do with drumming up sales for her jewelry business?
It has come to my attention that Karen of KOPS has made statements regarding BluzKat’s business transactions with The Firm and Kid One Transport regarding our summer auction of Taylor’s instruments.
These statements are without merit and I have documentation that supports the true facts that has transpired regarding this situation.
Whompin Pawz Productions, LLC has no first hand knowledge from Kid One Transport or The Firm that they do not trust us or want to work with us. If Karen has such documentation I request that she emails this to me so that it can be addressed with said parties.
It is sad to see organizations such as KOPS, Taylor’s Angels, Support the Troops drive, HFTS, and Bluzkat continuing to come under fire with false accusations.
It is also my belief that the above said organizations have nothing but good intentions of helping charites and the public in general.
Regarding the AMHOF event…I stated clearly on all of the fan sites that BluzKat’s harmonica jam is a private workshop designated for children only. I did invite the soul patrol to come to the official unveiling of Taylor’s AI exhibit which is held from 10:00-10:30 prior to the workshop. I also mentioned that whoever was going to the convention will make it back to B’ham in plenty of time to enjoy the festival.
Regarding the $20.00 for the workshop, that was the decision of the AMHOF not BluzKat. Whompin Pawz is absorbing 100% of the cost for this event and we are also including other amenities for the children to make this workshop even more special for them. The fee is paid directly to the Hall of Fame from the parents.
Whompin Pawz Productions, LLC wishes to thank fans that have shown their continuing support of BluzKat and our mission during this stressful time. It is our intention to continue on with our goal of bringing good music to the children and to assist in raising money for charities.
As stated above in another post, my contact information is public and I welcome anyone to contact me in regards to any questions or concerns that you have regarding these matters.

Answeredalready,
Sorry, but I disagree with you on all counts regarding 19 Entertainment. I’ve never seen them in evidence for other celebrity events unless it’s someone whose signed with them in that capacity. I don’t trust them and my God, anyone in their right mind wouldn’t! They treated Taylor disgracefully. You can say what you want about this convention if you so decide to. I don’t like the concept of it at all…because I’ve seen the behavior of most of the people who are involved. Don’t want to be associated with them.

“On this thread that is given exclusively to bluez, it is stated that she is now on the Ala. music hall of Fame’s website. She is having a private harmonica lesson event for kids right there. The cost is $20. or so, and this includes the cost of admission to the AMHOF. She has asked all the Soul Patrol that are coming to the convention to attend her “event” and has made sure that she tells everyone that there is plenty of time to get back to the convention before the party starts.”
I have not seen the thread you are talking about, so I can’t comment on what the bluez person said or intended to say about her event. But I did go to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame site. The page they have on the harmonica workshop (http://www.alamhof.org/harmonicaworkshop.htm) says it is only for kids ages 8 – 12.
Since the unveiling of Taylor’s jacket is that day, is it possible she was mentioning that event only? I think I remember seeing a post from someone on one of the fansites that people could fit the drive to the museum for the unveiling and make it back for the music festival without any problems.
The booth information has been up on this page since it was created. It was not posted on the boards because of Alabama law those who obtain a booth have to have a business license in Alabama, and those outside have to obtain a tempary license to operate as we here at Harmony have to do as well.
We here at Harmony have nothing against KOPS I myself have purchased a Calendar from the advertising that KOPS did on various sites. Also many Harmony members purchased the cookbooks as well.
We advertisied this as a fundraiser because that is what we are doing “raising funds” while “getting together” which we will be donating to the chariteies involved.
We went on all the fan forums asking for help with this event and putting it together. You can check various charity threads on the boards and see those requests. As KOPS has stated they pay for the things to do the fundraiser and then all funds after that go to Kid One.
We here at Harmony as stated above are doing the same 100% of funds raised after event costs will be split between the two charities involved. It is the same thing that KOPS has done in the past. I wish KOPS luck also with all their endeavours, and if anything else comes up that will help Kid One we here at Harmony will once again support.
I don’t think Kid One or any charity has any one group or organization with exclusive fund raising rights. They just want the best support to continue their great work. That is what it is all about, and should continue to be about.

“My concern was that I did not know that I could have rented a booth. I also sell certain things that I know would sell. I would never mind donating or being involved. Where was this posted and on what board.”
While I have not seen the booth information on any of the fansites, it has been on Harmony’s site for a few months now. I first saw it shortly after event tickets went on sale. You can find the information at http://www.harmonyforthesoul.org/EventTickets.html.

My concern was that I did not know that I could have rented a booth. I also sell certain things that I know would sell. I would never mind donating or being involved. Where was this posted and on what board. I am not on but a few. I read blogs. Some I can’t see because of the membership that I don’t have. Could you tell me where I could find this info even though I think it is really too late for me to do anything.

Thanks for your kind words, right now I’m not feeling like I’m helping much, but I’ll do what I can. This has been hard!!!! I’m worn out!
To answer your question, I think it is posted on the Harmony site, I’m not sure of the link but believe it is posted in previous entries.
Karen, you are the one that made total sense. I would have to say and having never met you, I would trust you. I appreciated your honesty and your willingness to set the record straight. You are the kind of person that a charity needs. This person that responded to me is obviously the same person that clingy thought was bluez. If she is involved, then why all the backstabbing? Heard more yesterday about how she flip flops.
I know who the people are that she mentioned. I have seen their names before and don’t think they belong to the charities at all. Part of my concern was cleared up with you and I will check out your website. Thanks. I hope Taylor does come for those that have paid hard earned money to come and it would be exciting for them.
My concern was that I did not know that I could have rented a booth. I also sell certain things that I know would sell. I would never mind donating or being involved. Could you tell me where I could find this info even though I think it is really too late for me to do anything. Others might join in if they live closer. I am definately not a hop skip and a jump and have made some plans for Mother’s day with my new daughter *just got married*. He loves Taylor and thinks he is normal and sings like Elvis.
Not answering the snide poster that cuts what you do down. Keep up the good work. Not all people are good. Some just need to answer questions that people want to know.
Thanks Jeanne. You are a special person as well. You have made a difference. Not so sure if any of my comments have been helpful and hope no one was offended, at least I know more and feel that others have found out alot.

My question, where is KOPS , where is Taylor’s Angels? They did not step forward, IMO they won’t.
——
Kid One is not assiting or working with Harmony in this event. There is no contract between Kid One and Harmony. The only way Kid One is participating in this event is allowing Harmony to give them the funds they raise. Since this is not a Kid One event, KOPS was not obligated to attend nor asked to do so by Kid One nor invited by Harmony.
Let it be known that KOPS DOES hope money is raised for the charities involved. The need is great and both organizations could use the help.
Because of the way members of Harmony and Bluzkat have treated KOPS, I personally don’t know how KOPS could have participated in this event. IF Kid One had said they were working with Harmony, we certainly would have been there- Taylor or no Taylor. All we do is raise money for Kid One and 100% of what we make, benefits Kid One. To clarify, not all the money we raise goes directly to Kid One, but we use some of it to send out the cookbooks or calendars or purchase the supplies needed to offer the fund raising projects. Everything we make helps them one way or another and everything we do, we get approval from Kid One. I hope that makes sense, if not, please ask and I’ll try to make it clearer.
Let me speak as a Taylor Hicks fan and not as a KOPS member please. I am very sad at the anger and frustration I’m seeing and I certainly hope things calm. I WISH Harmony had just announced this event as a “get together” and said if they make any money, they would give it to Kid One/Make a Wish instead of boasting that it was a fund raiser.
It is very obvious we are all very passionate people and we want our voice heard, I don’t have a problem with that at all. We SHOULD ask questions, we SHOULD demand answers. We need to be informed so any actions we take, we do so with confidence. I see many of the same questions I’ve had posted on this blog and I have to determine whether the information delivered is accurate or not. Please, do your own research, don’t rely on others to do the work for you. Empower yourself with knowledge!
If you have any questions for KOPS, we have created a special forum on the KOPS site (www.kidonepatrolofsoul.com) for you to openly post your questions or concerns. Your questions and our answers will be on display so please feel free to check back often for new posts.
Remember, you do NOT have to go through KOPS or Harmony to give to Kid One or Make A Wish. If you feel you want to give to a charity, there is always a donation button on the organization’s site. KOPS tries to offer unique and fun items for the Soul Patrol and use any funds raised to help Kid One. Not every item is right for every person, that’s fine. If one sees something they are interested in purchasing, they can do so knowing we give all profits to Kid One.
Thank you so much for letting me share. We all want the right thing to happen and asking questions is the only way we’ll get the answers we need. Bring ‘em on!!
shampatrol aka Blondebabe or Missy Scarlett,
Any one who wanted to buy a booth package could. Where was all of the support early on for Harmony? KOPS & Taylor’s Angels refused to deal with them. Now that there is a possibility that taylor may show up maybe they will pay the booth price.
This is not exclusive, it was open for anyone who has a business license and who would agree to donate to the charities.
My question, where is KOPS , where is Taylor’s Angels? They did not step forward, IMO they won’t.
I don’t think this is really about whether Taylor will go to the convention or not. I hope he does for all of the SP that spent their money to hear a few minutes with no name bands excluding two. They only sing a short while and then who would want to have a meet and greet with (for instance) Clay? Anyway, Taylor would certainly be a good thing for all to see. The concerned posters that I have read thus far, are seeing that money is being made by some that are involved in the charities. One replied “so what” and I say it is a big deal. If vendors were allowed to be there, heck anyone can put up a donation box and collect money for a worthy cause. Why was it not advertised by these people that you can be a vendor? There are people that have been advertising their sites on the fansites because they are envolved in a charity. So, what everyone needs to do is to find a charity or talk to KO or the others that Taylor endorses and go online and sell whatever you are selling or promote your business and on the side, if anyone wants to donate, great, and you get in good with Taylor’s people because you will just need to clear it with them first and you start to see the perks. You can wear a badge and never worry about getting tickets again, you can host benefits and you can advertise, and all the while, you can make big money because all you have to say is that you are not affiliated with Taylor Hicks. Easy money. You also do not have to donate ALL the money. I think it is a small percentage. Now, if they are setting up booths or whatever you do at this SP Conv.event place, and merchandise is being sold by these volunteers and soul patrol members, then does that mean that ALL of the money is going to donation? I bet not. Another words, WHY are the select few allowed to sell their own personal wears at a charity benefit? IF they are doing this WHY was no one told. I am curious about this now. Bet bluez is gonna get out her stuff, how about a harmonica necklace! KA-CHING!
it will be a cold day in hell before Taylor would set foot at that convention
Claudia you are dillusional along with all of the harmony group
Ha! Hi Claudia. I printed this whole thing out yesterday because I couldn’t read it all and I wanted to see if it was ALL negative. I was so happy that you were the first caller on the radio show! AND THEN – Taylor said he might have to make an appearance at the convention. I got through toward the end of the radio show and gave kudos to you and everyone who put the convention together and then he said again that he might have to make and appearance. So -to all the naysayers out there: Claudia never promised he would be there but I don’t think Taylor would mention an appearance if he wasn’t planning to show up somewhere! We all love Taylor so let’s stop all this negative crap, eh?
Yep!
Taylor is sooooooooooo hot on the live radio in birmingham show………..are you all watching.
ROFL!

NKOTB will be appearing on the Today Show on April 4th. She will be there to freelance for them. There will be NO TOUR after that. So it’s not a career, just a one day gig. Good Luck Clod! We’ll miss you on the convention trail!!
