New Guy Sebastian Album in the Works

Guy Sebastian’s Memphis Album was such a success, he’s decided to head back to the States to prepare for a follow-up.Guy Sebastian

But don’t expect another album of soul covers. While it’d undoubtedly sell well, Guy’s busy collaborating with the likes of David Ryan Harris on some original songs. A star in his own right, Aussie music lovers might recognise David as part of John Mayer’s current band.

Stax legend Steve Cropper must have enjoyed Guy’s company last time around, because he’s also working on this new release.

“We are meant to be writing but we are mainly just jamming and hanging out,” Guy said on his website.

Great things come out of jam sessions, so who knows what this meeting of creative minds will produce.

Guy fans won’t hear this new release for a while, so thankfully there’s a DVD in the works to tide fans over. Sony BMG plan to release a live DVD featuring one of Guy’s Memphis Album performances at Melbourne’s Crown Casino. It will be in stores on May 3.

Hmm. He doesn’t say he’s recording it in the States. He might, but it doesn’t say that. He’s certainly not recording it yet. He’ll be back here before Friday.

I’d love to hear some new material featuring the MGs.

DRH was also out here writing with Guy a bit before the Memphis Tour.

Point taken Nessa. I’ve edited the article to make it a little more accurate.

No problem – I like your blog. I enjoy seeing Guy reported on without his name being followed by words like ‘karaoke king’ or ‘Idol virgin’, which happens so much in Australia.

I read a piece on a DRH Los Angeles gig a few days ago, in which Guy was mentioned as being in the audience. Just his name, no explanation of who he was. It was as if the writer expected everyone to know. Respect.

Thanks Nessa :-) It’s always nice to hear the positive feedback.

I think the writers who use those kind of tags are just a bit lazy. After all, how can you call Guy a karaoke king when he’s been writing his own songs since before Idol, and when he plays his own instruments?

i wish him nothing but the best

awww you know I love this blog. Some great info. here too. I mean, a fella who’s been recording tracks since 1998, (and so he sez, was offered a recording contract some time ago – from Nashville though, so he didn’t take it up), who can play more instruments than you can poke a stick at (Aussie colloquialism there) and we worked out not all that long ago – has over 30 of his own songs on over 10 albums (just not all are HIS albums), I call that a working artist.

Thanks Prins! Guy is truly something special, and it’s so nice that the rest of the world is beginning to take notice!
