A few days ago, the New York Daily News reported that Miss J Alexander is getting demoted for Cycle 14 of America’s Next Top Model. Instead of being a regular judge, he’s going back to being only the runway coach.

Other rumors include Kimora Lee Simmons returning to the judging panel to replace the rotating celebrity guest judges. Replacing Miss J? Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley.
A CW representative denied that Kimora is returning by stating: “Not true.”
The only rumor I think has any inkling of being true is that of Miss J’s decreased role. Kimora was already on the show and it didn’t work out. I highly doubt anyone from Vogue would come near ANTM with a ten-foot pole. Yes, they are getting more media savvy, but if they plan to enter the world of reality TV, they’d do it Anna-style. A high-end documentary-style show about the magazine (think a way better Running with Heels) would be more appropriate for the magazine than anything affiliated with Tyra Banks.
What do you think?

I’ll believe Talley when I see it. I also don’t buy that Wintour would let him within 100 feet of ANTM unless it’s as a one-off guest judge slot. The fact that he nor anyone who reps him/Vogue has said anything tells me this is either so far down on their radar as to not have even registered or it’s too ridiculous to even be taken seriously. I’m glad the CW refuted Kimora’s involvement. She was worthless on C1. She said Elyse was too thin for her (yeah, Elyse was too thin to wear her hoochie designs) which was crazy when you’re talking about a model. Miss Jay is the question mark. I wouldn’t mind him not being on panel if he went back to actually teaching the girls about runway like he did in the earlier cycles instead of all this silliness he does. He actually seems more helpful on international verions of NTM than he does on ANTM. If any judge should be replaced though it’s Nigel as he basically just parrots Tyra and acts as the resident pervert. They do need another permanent judge though that would bring another POV to the panel other than Tyra’s; someone who actually made some sense.

Miss J is my favorite judge, so if they kick him off the panel I’ll be extremely disappointed. They do need another permanent judge, but hopefully they’ll use another supermodel like Janice, Twiggy or Paulina. I’d love to see one of the former two come back, but I’m not sure how possible that is. Janice was always so much fun, but the terms of her departure from ANTM weren’t that amicable. Of course, she has made guest appearances since then, both on ANTM and various other NTMs (remember her drunken tirade on the Finnish version?), and her other show was canceled, so you never know. Twiggy I think actually did have scheduling issues, but maybe ahe’ll be able to make more time? Oh well, I can dream.
If they had to go with someone completely new, though, I’d like to see Linda Evangelista. That’d be interesting.

There’s no way they get another big name model to do this show. Except for Twiggy, Janice and Paulina were trying to treat the show like an actual modeling competition and look for the best model which wasn’t what Tyra was looking for. Frankly, I still don’t see Vogue stooping to do ANTM. Also, if 17 is still involved that seems like a conflict of interest somehow. Right now I’m of the opinion that this is just a way to drum up publicity for C14. C13 had the lowest ratings of any cycle so I wouldn’t put it past TPTB to have put this stuff out there to get people talking, especially considering that the CW has already denied Kimora’s involvement.

I just think Anna would very much want to be in control of the process and Andre’s presentation on the show and I don’t think that’s something Tyra would go for. I feel The September Issue was the same way with the exception of Grace – it was a controlled, tight presentation of Vogue. The brand is so strong that Andre’s stint on ANTM would need to be in line with that.
At the same time, Vogue seems desperate to become savvier lately, so who knows?
