To say that I am excited about getting a date set for the release of “New Moon” would be a serious understatement. I am thrilled beyond words! On November 20, 2009, theaters will fill up again for the release of “New Moon”, the second book in the “Twilight” series. Robert Pattinson will be returning as Edward.
If you have seen the first movie or read the books, then you know that Jacob grows incredibly fast and is like 7 feet tall. Taylor Lautner (pictured below) played Jacob in “Twilight” and now there is all kinds of craziness surrounding who will get to play Jacob in the second film.

Taylor did great playing him and I can’t imagine anyone else playing the role of Jacob, but there is a problem with the whole size thing. He is definitely fighting for this role and has said that he has gained 19 pounds, but he’s not the only one fighting for the role.
Michael Copon (pictured below) is also being considered for the part, so we hear. He recently spoke to J-14 about how he is perfect for the role of Jacob in “New Moon”. Michael actually said that he probably needs to bulk down a little for the role. He says he is close to 200 pounds of muscle and then adds that Taylor is 140, if he’s lucky. Geez.
Here’s what he had to say about why he should get the part: “I have nothing against Taylor personally. I think he’s great and tremendous at what he does. But it’s just adjusting to the fact that Jacob has to grow. It’s a matter of going with the storyline. It goes with the territory. I see so much in Jacob Black that I feel like wasn’t brought to the first film that if I had the opportunity, I would totally create an amazing character.”
Interesting. Okay “Twilight” fans – who do YOU think should get the role of Jacob in “New Moon”? Can’t they do some sort of camera trick to make Taylor look bigger? I’ll be very sad to see him go.

It would be a tragety if Tayler had to go….REally great looking and alll….Make him wear heels but like flat heels…. I would cry if he doesnt make it…. I love you Robert!!!!!
I think Taylor is perfect for Jacob whether he is seven feet tall or not. Couldn’t they just make Bella wear really flat shoes??? He only actually has to super tall next to her right? Well and the pack. Idk I would absolutely hate to see him kicked out of the role of Jacob.

i don’t think its a shame taylor is getting the boot; he had a little part in twilight and he really didn’t even pull it off. most girls like him cause his looks and he looks to feminine to be jacob, IMO
now i agree taylor is cute and the one thing i love about him is that in the story it talks about jacob have a smile that lights up the whole room which is wat taylor has but then again micheal has the same sweet smile but more than anything you have to stick to the story and jacob does grow and get stronger and lets face it when it comes the muscular micheal gots it hands down now i love taylor and micheal your a great actor i have seen you in one tree hill (very good) but i have to say i go for Michael Copon
i think taylor should play jacob still. he did a great job playing jacob in the first movie. and i love his smile! if michael has to play jacob, then i dont care, i want it to be as close as possible to the book. but im rooting for taylor.

i think that Taylor should get the seen he did a great job in Twilight and well he was the one in the first one so he should stay in the second one!!!! lol:p

Taylor Lautner needs to play Jacob Black.
like some of the previous comments the facial features of the Jacob in the novels does not change.
The facial features of Michael Copon do not match Taylor Lautner’s in any way, shape, or form.
Yes the character of Jacob Black does grow in the novels but I personally know for a fact that there are filming tricks to make an actor appear larger on screen.
I go to an Art school and am Majoring in Film Production. I KNOW the tricks and I KNOW the techniques. It is not impossible.
If Taylor does not play the role of Jacob Black the audience of Billions that has already viewed the film ‘Twilight’ will be extremely disappointed including myself.

and god knows that there will be no “Team Michael” created because..A. that sounds ridiculous and B. there will be no one to “join” that team because of all the disappointed fans that probably won’t even go to view the film because of Taylor not playing the part of Jacob.
Not only does Taylor have “a smile that lights up a room” Taylor’s facial features remind me of those of an actual wolf.
When I first saw the film “Twilight” where Taylor plays the character of Jacob Black and then after I read the novel series and discovered that Jacob Black is in fact the rightful Alpha of a werewolf, I sat and pictured the face of Taylor Lautner and then pondered to myself for a good 5 minutes about how perfect he was for Jacob Black’s role.
They could have not chosen a better person to play Jacob Black’s character.
Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner have such great on-screen chemistry in ‘Twilight’ it sickens me to think how she’s going to have to start all over with someone new. Especially when in the novel ‘New Moon’ Bella and Jacob share more personal moments and more time alone as their relationship grows into something more than acquaintances and friendship. How will that not be awkward for Kristen Stewart? It most certainly will be.
All the characters of ‘Twilight’ have such a great friendship it would be devastating to break that up. Also, if you’re changing one character..you may as well change them all because the movie, the experience for the actors as well as the viewer will NEVER be the same.
I think Taylor would be better an Jacob, his eyes kinda look more like a he would fit the wolf role better than Michael…
though the book says Jacob does look older for his age, i think Michael looks to old.

honestly i cant picture anyone but Taylor playing Jacob and seriously look at Micheal he doesn’t look anything like a werewolf and he would never be able to replace the way Taylor does!i also think that Micheal looks way too old, like jacob is only like 16 in new moon and Micheal looks 20 or 22. I love edward cullen!!!!

I hate when they change characters! It wont be the same if they change Taylor even if he had a small role I think he is the perfect jacob he is just what i imagined maybe taller but there are ways of fixing that make him wear body suit and heels! I will be disapointed if they change him.And they should have thought about that before making him jacob they knew he was going to have to grow. Im rooting for you Taylor hope you get the part!

I think that Taylor should still be Jacob. He is Drop Dead Gorgious, And he is perfect for the role considering that Jacob is a tribal leaders son and he looks like he looks the part. He has a great smile.n series when an actor plays a caracter (like Taylor playing Jocob) and then isnt the same actor in the next movie, it ruins it. They have Sophisticated Tecnology and they’re saying that he cant play this role because he isnt tall enough, or built like they want it, well that is bull. They can make it that way with all their equiptment. He needs to be in the next film, and thats all there is to it. So i wish Taylor Lautner all the best, and if they remove you i will not watch the new movie. And it will be their loss because you are and amazing actor.
Taylor needs to play this part. Taylor plays as Jacob a Tribal Leaders son, that means he is indian. Taylor can pull it off with no problem at all, he is naturaly gorgious that way, but the other guy dosn’t look it no offence. So i am glad that he got it. If they want to change his character or any other characer for that matter they can forget about it because they all deserve their parts. And with that said I want to wish you New Moon Characters all the best. I herd about the book and people were freaking about it and then the movie came so I decided I was going to watch it to see why everyone was freaking out about it and i Loved it. You could feel the emotions in it as you watch the character. I have read Twilight and New Moon and am going to Buy Eclipse. I Love all The actors in this movie and great job.
Taylor should definetely get the part cause he stared as Jacob in Twilight and New Moon just wouldn’t be what billions of fans pictured it to be. Also his face looks way more like a wolfs than Copon’s.
