NBC has released a new cast photo for Parenthood including Lauren Graham (Lorelai on Gilmore Girls)! If you recall, Lauren’s role was originally slated for Maura Tierney, who had to bow out when she needed time off to receive treatment for breast cancer. If you’re a fan of Maura, don’t worry — she is hopeful she will return to television next year, and the producers of Rescue Me have invited her to return to reprise her recurring role on that series.
While its sad circumstances, it’s so exciting that Lauren will be back on television and in our homes, so to speak. So far, the promos look great!

I’m nervous and excited to see this. She’s a great actress but… I think she needs to challenge herself. I’m positive she could work through some pretty intense and intricate characters if she could take a little instability that might go along with doing that. This role has a lot of similarities to Lorelai but she has been convincing everyone this character has more edge. She’ll rock this role but in the future I would love to see her really change up what she’s used to. Have more faith in herself and amazing talent maybe.
