The blogger at Doobybrain.com had the good fortune of having Ugly Betty film this past Friday right outside his door!
This is one of the wonderful side effects of the show filming in NYC. Yes, we are getting a lot more on location paparazzi photos, but there is more opportunity for folks who aren’t paparazzi to snag a picture or video of the filming. The blogger, Herman Yung, had this to say:
Ugly Betty has been filming on my street (directly across from my front door) since late Friday afternoon and into early Saturday morning. I stood outside to watch the whole crew do their magic and I ended up seeing America Ferrera.
There is also a video of America Ferrera and Eric Mabius getting ready for a scene. Ferrera spent most of the time dancing.
. Mabius is back to his dapper self (no warmup jacket here!)
More kinda, sorta spoiler-ish info after the jump!
Check out this photo:
Yung says this about the shot: I don’t watch Ugly Betty, but I can tell you that this “West Side Falafel” restaurant is part of the TV show because this is the 2nd time they’ve come here in the past couple of months to film this location. If you’re curious, the “West Side Falafel” is actually a Japanese sushi restaurant in real life called Izumi.
Remember when bagels were featured in almost every show at the start of season 2? It would appear that there is going to be a running Falafel gag in season 3. Christina mentioned the fact that falafel made her “gassy” in 3.01, The Manhattan Project. It may be the sort of thing that interests only me, but I like these little trivia nuggets.
BTW, Betty’s outfit looks pretty darned good to me!

Izumi’s getting free coverage… I think they’d love that!
Falefal..? I don’t even know how to say that.
I live in NYC and heard about this filming on 7th Avenue. I was busy with classes and was too tired to go but I am definitely planning on dropping in to a few UB filmings this year. That’s the great thing about living in NYC. I’ve already seen my share of films and movies being shot right in the street and it’s great for local businesses to get featured on a hit show.
Cool and I like Betty’s outfit
Bettys outfit isnt ugly enough, its almost matching. And i hope they dont shoot outside too much and not in the wonderful Mode building and everything. The big deal being made about the move to New York is overdone, seeing as how the show took place in New York the whole time.
