Nicole Richie Wants Natural Birth

nicole richie natural birthNicole Richie is so into being drug free that she refuses to take any, even in labor!

A source close to Nicole told Star magazine: “[She] has been adamant about not putting any sort of drug or chemical into her body since she learned she was pregnant. Nicole has made her mistakes in the past, but she doesn’t want her child to suffer because of them.”

She’s has become incredibly strict about what she puts in her body. She wouldn’t dream of taking anything that might be bad for the baby.”

“[She] realizes that she has an extremely addictive personality. She knows that if she allows herself to take even one pain pill, it might be a slippery slope for her.”

“She’s hoping to go through childbirth without an epidural or any other painkillers. She feels if she can get through that without drugs, she can get through anything.”

Good luck with that Nicole!

  1. Nicole Richie Wants Natural Foods and Childbirth – FameCrawler

[...] Richie, spotted coming out of an organic vegan cuisine cafe, wants her childbirth to be just as natural as her lunch.  Apparently she is playing it safe (and painful) and is [...]

Natural Birth and Drug Free….GO GIRL!!!!…now you are thinking…

…best decision you could have made.
Best for baby, you, family and the nation. 90% of mothers and babies in North America meet each other for the most vital time of life – DRUGGED!
It is down hill from there in many ways.

But Nicole if you really want Natural….do some reading and make some wise decisions on WHERE as well…as soon as you walk through the Hospitals swinging doors your amygdala (primitive brain that is responsible for breathing, breeding and birthing) shuts down and the hospital gleefully shouts: “failure to progress” !once your self esteem is hit with that you give up and give over to the drug culture then and there and from that time on it haunts you. Our medical model of birth sets us up for ‘failure’ and paves the way to the pharmacy…the number two profit centre of the globe: Patented medicine!!!
GO to your library…get the books….read them…start with Henci Goers ” the intelligent woman’s guide to natural birth” or something like that.

Best of luck and best wishes….truth is if you birth naturally and enter into this holistic pact with yourself…. and birth at home with a trained and experienced midwife…you don’t need luck….only to trust yourself to be as capable as the millions who have done this before and in many countries …without pain…fear is the source of pain…ignorance is fear and fear is painful….be informed and painless.

Enjoy this new life and make the very most of it.
    Colin

I went through 3 drug-free births and it is awesome! I think the pain is overrated to the point that women start feeling it before it even hits. I couldn’t agree more with Colin. My first birth happened so fast that the drug-free part was kind of an accident. I wanted to go drug-free, but was keeping my options open. For the second and third, I realised that I had done it once, I could do it again. The worst is right before it’s over. If I can do it with the control freak medicine-loving doctor I got stuck with in my economically depressed area, Nicole can do it if she finds a good midwife. It was only my strong will that accomplished this because she would have loved nothing more than to medicate me into docile submission, but in all truthfulness, it wasn’t that bad and so worth it!

Since I have never given birth i can’t say but from what I know, I’m guessing tht will change about an hour afer her water breaks. Giving birth is supposedly one of the most painful experiences a person can endure.

Colin, dude. Congrats on being a total hippie but the truth is, you’re a guy. You are not allowed to have such a long winded opinion on what decisions women in labour should make. Shame on you. Until you pass a watermelon out of your pee hole, you are not allowed to be so damn self righteous.

  5. Carol

Quinn, since you have never given birth, YOU are no more qualified to comment on NCB than Colin. All you can do is spout what you’ve heard: that it’s one of the most painful experiences a person can endure. It’s not. I know since I did it three times with no drugs. What I would qualify as a painful experience would involve knives, guns and scissors, torture racks, being burned at the stake or electrocuted. With birth, attitude is everything. With the right support and an atmosphere of relaxation, yes it’s painful, but not unendurable. I get so angry when people, especially people who have only heard about it or seen it on TV (yeah, THERE’S a realistic representation) deride people who know, both by doing research and through experience, that childbirth is a natural event, which has only been rendered traumatizing through being made into a medical procedure. Do the research, give birth without drugs and then you are qualified to give an opinion about how painful it is. It’s not like “passing a watermelon out your pee hole” if it’s done right. It’s more like a moment of ecstacy where you are rewarded with a perfect human being. The body opens up to allow the baby to pass, if you’re not numbed out and drugged up. Besides, if you think it comes out your pee hole, you need to brush up on biology.

Congrats, Nicole, for trying. Keep an open mind, keep your options open and go with a real midwife (not a med wife) and a doula. You can do it and the rewards are great.

Thanks Carol for speaking out -about sanity and sentience….oh! and thanks for the biology lesson …very helpful for those who think babies hide out in mom’s tummy for 9 months…then slip out the urethra…
Quinn….you are forgiven…(its Colin, the self righteous prig here…the one you were addressing earlier). Oh…sorry for more long winded diatribe…but I get all uppity when science and research is labeled: OPINION….one more thing…if you are having trouble with flatulence it may be that you are full of beans?

Midwives are the amazing and wise women who have for centuries trained and passed on their knowledge and wisdom to women to keep the intelligence alive and safeguard birth… as the amazing miracle of nature, that it is…UNTIL they became to SMART and powerful. They saw through the veils of power and control sanctified and administered by the early church. These dominating males in places of power… saw midwives as A great threat to their continuing domination….and called them WITCHES…then devised a scientific approach to test their thesis….burn the so-called witches or drown them… and… if they survive…then sure enough, they were witches…and its OK to have killed them….BUT if they die….then…well..ah! we are sorry….BUT the good news is they will enter heaven straight away….now we can move on….and now we have no competition for the muddled and meddled maternity practiced by early doctors….the ones who received this apt description by John Taylor a writer of the period. This was a time in the infancy of medicine when doctors’ success rates were much like the flip of a coin. He stated succinctly the level of physicians’ prowess: “A doctor is a man who writes prescriptions till the patient either dies or is cured by nature.” Sadly it has not changed all that much in these many years. The disease of Iatrogenesis* kills more than 700,000 Americans each year as the greatest killer – No. 1 in America.
Our current crop of good doctors have learned more about avoiding malpractice suits…hiding the evidence and keeping their insurance costs down so they can make their payments on the Lexus and Bimmer….THAN they ever learn about turning a baby-breech birth… ripening a cervix…rubbing a back…quiet subservience, supporting and serving women….we DON’T teach that anymore…only control and how to write a prescription, read a dial on a machine that is metric not imperial and administer drugs… and how getting the decimal in the right place is a good idea so you don’t do any greater harm than you already have in trying to deliver a baby…many should go back to their college days of delivering pizzas…BABIES ARE BORN not DELIVERED….
Delivering babies is a lost leader in the medical biz…it creates such havoc and ill health in the life of the baby and family that it creates a repeat customer—a long term patient and a PENSION PLAN for the medical industry and its cohort…sadly they have made so much money and have got used to it and don’t want to RETIRE.
It we birth at home with trained midwives maybe the incompetent ones will be forced to retire. At which point we can look forward to life in peace, health and harmony.
A nation’s rate of birth by C-section is directly related to levels of respect for women and rate of violence: infanticide, child abuse, domestic abuse, misogyny, uxoricide, homicide, aberrant behaviours, addiction (drugs, retail therapy, pharmaceuticals—the fuel of our consumptive compulsion) and abuse of power.

The Hallmarks of peaceful nations are natural birth, mothers’ milk of human kindness and the vital touch of physical intimacy for baby’s primal year (preferably longer).

It is a sad state when the MYTHinformation and MISinformation of the west starts to look like a sales pitch came from a marketing board or lobbyist for the biggest global profit centre next to War: Pharmaceuticals.

    Go girl….birth this baby…
trust in yourself and let the force be with you!!!
Love this baby and cherish it with all you have got!
    Let the doctors deliver pizza.

    Best wishes, Colin
(*Iatrogenesis is a fancy latin word to obscure the truth: Death by doctor’s incompetence.)

I should add that many people confuse “choice” in childbirth with feminism. Let the woman choose without any interference from nature. Women today sell themselves short. They don’t believe they’re tough enough to go through what they have been told is hell, so they immediately cave and get medicated before they even know what the discomfort will be like. For the most part, I’ve had menstrual cramps that were worse. We would NEVER let anyone tell us we weren’t tough enough to go in the military, work a demanding job, go to med school, get a PhD, star in a sport or anything else. Yet we let people tell us we can’t do what we were built to do without medical interference. Then we let them tell us that we can’t make enough milk for our babies or that our breasts belong to men so they can use them to sell cars and beer. For pete’s sake, ladies, stand up for yourselves!

Men need to be educated too. The fathers are coaching them through this process. These same men need to be able to stand up for them when the doctor wants to start another IV during transition (like my idiot doctor) or to tell the doctor to back off when she tells his wife when, how and how long to push and then starts that stupid count. My unmedicated labors were the result of sheer determination and were much harder than they had to be. The best was my second because he and I had an agreement that he would intervene ONLY if my or my baby’s life was in danger. He let me push and guess what? I knew when to push. I felt such a powerful surge that I HAD to push. Had I been numbed from the waist down, I never would have felt that.

And what’s with the love affair with lying on your back??? I was very clear all three times that I did not want to birth on my back. Each time I came out of my trance wondering “what the heck am I doing on my back AGAIN??”

Even with the substandard care I received (no whirlpool or even shower were offered, no back rubs, no birthing ball, no soothing words of encouragement) I had three wonderful, powerful births and my bonding with my babies were the result. If I can do it, with the pathetically limited resources that I had, ANYONE can, especially with the right resources.

It’s so frustrating. Problem is, we’ve all heard the horror stories which are the result of medicalized births. Most of our mothers were knocked out, wheeled into a surgical unit and had their babies dragged out of them.

Thanks for fighting the good fight, Colin. It’s funny that you’re not allowed to tell women what to do because you don’t have a uterus, but the male dominated birth industry is allowed to tell us how to give birth. I don’t know what your experience with birth is, but it’s very likely that you have been through it with a girlfriend or wife. This is not just a women’s issue, it’s a human one and the more people who educate themselves and get involved, the sooner we can evolve back to the way nature intended.
