No Doubt On Today Show, May 1st 2009

No Doubt kicked off Today’s Show summer concert series. This is also No Doubt’s first reunion appearance since they "separated" about 5 years ago. It was nice to see the gang performing again. But for some reason I felt something awkward. From the performance to how they were recieved by the viewers this morning.

I love Gwen Stefani and I’ve accpeted that she really doesn’t sound that good live, heh. Nevertheless, she rocks. However, ithe performance just felt a little awkward and her hair looked a bit silly like that. I’m an advocate for Women beign Hot Mommas and all that. But there comes a point when a performer should show some maturity. I guess I was asking a more evolved approach form the group now since let’s face it, they’re not in their 20’s anymore.

New Kids On The Block is successful with their reunion because they’ve shown maturity in their looks, performance and their new album. I’m not getting the same feeling with No Doubt. Gwen Stefani looked like she was over compensating and frankly, a bit awkward. Having said all that, I’d still buy their new album because I’m a fan and I would like to find out how this new one is comapred to their old ones.

One of the NKOTB picked up and displayed a pair of panties my daughter and her friends had decorated and thrown onto the stage in LA. Not sure I’d call that mature, but they’re having fun with their fans. No Doubt is just warming up. Give them a little more stage time in front of fans. I’m glad to see them back.

Hmmm, your daughter and her friends threw the underwear on the stage??? Hmmm.

And by the way, here’s what I said : “New Kids On The Block is successful with their reunion because they’ve shown maturity in their looks, performance and their new album.”.

Yes, they did. They added the patches before the show. They were slogans or something. There were three of them, all around 30-years-old. My daughter and her friends are like other fans. They flew to Seattle for one show and LA for another. I still remember her bedroom walls being covered in NKOTB photos.
