Assuming that the Oscars don’t end up a giant flop of a press conference like the Golden Globes were due to the writers’ strike (even Jon Stewart, slated to host this year again – yay! – has stated he will not cross the picket lines), and assuming that we do indeed get the full-blown Oscars ceremony this year, we’ll likely not be seeing Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the Oscar red carpet this year.
Despite the fact that Globe nominees usually get an Oscar nod as well, Angelina Jolie was not nominated for her role in A Mighty Heart. Since Brad Pitt was not nominated for Jesse James either, both will likely stay home this year (unless they come in support of George Clooney). I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if they showed up at the ceremony since Angie had already said that she would be staying at home with her kids if the Oscars were canceled. Although many people who are not fans like to accuse the Jolie-Pitt family of being attention seekers, they do actually try to stay as low key as possible while balancing normal life, so there’s a good chance they’ll just stay home and hang out with the kids on the big day.
I would love to know the reasoning for her not being nominated after being nominated for the Golden Globe. Oh well, I’m not going to let myself be too disappointed since I bet Angelina herself was probably only mildly let down herself.

Can’t believe she’s not nominated for A Mighty Heart…c’mon..maybe it didn’t make tons and tons of money but Angelina did a great job on that! I mean, when I was watching it, I really didn’t think it was her in there, she looked, sounded, acted and portrayed another person really really well…so to the Oscar panel who did not included her..I say….The Hell with you all…boo to the Oscars..I’d be popping another Tomb Raider DVD while your show is on.

Neela, thank you for the link. That was the point i was making. The movie “Elizabeth” got panned, royally, and yet Cate Blanchett is nominated for a best actress. What relevance does a character based on a monarch who ruled ceturies ago have in the world today? AMH serves a purpose, and Angie did such a magnificent job with the role. If, (and that’s a big if, because lets face it, a gossip columnist is reporting it) as someone mentioned above, Kathy Bates did make derogatory comments about the role, then Shame On Her. What they fail to realise is that god’s willing, Angie is still young, and has a lot of acting left in her, if she so chooses. And Brad and her will go on living their lives with their adorable children.

If you visited JJ then you know that the JA ?fans always disrupt the new threads about B&A. It then becomes a tit for tat situation. I don’t visit there that often because of these squabbles. SO for you to say it’s just B&A fans who disrupt JJ shows your bias, big time; and therefore your opinions are suspect.
You are entitled to your belief that JA is beyond reproach and am entitled to mine that she is not.
i never visit JJ, cause fans from BOTH sides are behaving like idiots. have you looked up the Jen articles? they´re flooding with haters.

you should talk to the ones on here (i actually loved this site cause the fans here are mature and do not bash) who blame others for ANgelinas “misery”. cause thats just ridiculous. i am an Angiefan BTW, just more grown up than some on here. there are about 100 people sitting in that jury and you think those 2 had something to do with this. no offense but your hate for JA blinds you.

Both sides have their share of fans who tend to have histrionics and be too extreme with their opinions, so, let’s just some of us agree to disagree.

i´m not a Jenfan. sorry for the misunderstanding, i just can´t stand it if people react unfair towards others that way. i love this site because it´s peaceful and i was really disapointed as those conspiracy theories showed up!

Phoebe, not to prolong this discussion, but on Wednesday, the day after Heath Ledger’s death, someone posted on the Oscar’s thread on JJ that it should have been Angie. I have seen posts where they have maligned the children and even call Zahara a monkey. Angie has been called every unimaginablr nasty name under the sun. When Angie was pregnant there were wishes that she would die in childbirth, both her and Shiloh. Because she had to have a c-section due t Shiloh being in a breach position, they said it was because Angie had a STD. They have also wished she would crash and die, that she would be kidnapped when she goes on her UN trips, and there have been countless hate and venom thrown her way.
I am saying this because there seem to be a notion that only Jen’s post have haters. Her posts are tame in comparison to what is said about the JPs. I am not condoning what is happening, but i have listened to this criticism of the posters at JJ, and i think it is time i defend them. There are a lot of wonderful fans there, and they vigorously defend the JPs with the facts amidst all the lies being spouted every day. I agree, that there are some fans who get carried away, but that happens in every aspect of life. But singling out Jen’s post to show hatred toward her is showing bias.
Pittwatch is a great site, i agree with that completely, but JJ has much more hits, at least 20 x more, and unfortunately it is not moderated like Sherry does so well here. Because of that the haters have carte blanche to say whatever they want. The regulars have been begging JJ to have registration, but so far no luck. I still maintain that this nonsense would not be going on all these years later, if Jen had not handled her divorce so publicily. Once the genie is out of the bottle, you cant put it back in, as she has unfortunately had to find out. By trying to hurt Brad and Angie, Jen has also opened her life to ridicule.
I enjoy JJ, and am grateful that the fans know some facts than that which is being put out by rhe tabloids, and so keep generating all this hate.
I have stated in an earlier post that i refuse to give Jen and Oprah that kind of power. I dont know how the Hollywood PR machine work, and we all know Angie does not have a publicist, so if there is a possibilty that any shenanigans went on to deny Angie the nomination, all i can say is that that is sad. Angie’s life with Brad and their children will go on, and i am sure that as long as everyone in the family is healthy that’s all that matters.
So sorry for the long post. Just my opinion.

i didn´t know about those fanatics on JJ, i am shocked! but exactly those fans keep me away from JJ i really dislike this site. i never said that there were ONLY jenhaters, i just said that i was disapointed to find some on here.
about Brads and Jens divorce…let´s agree that we diasgree:) i think she handled the situation with much dignity, although i must say that normally i do not care much about her. i fear without her VAnity Fair interview things would have gone even worse, because the fans would have had more room for speculation. she wanted to hurt ANgie and Brad?no offense but thats childish thinking and all three aren´t in highschool anymore. all three moved on and ANgie is way to secure to let herself be hurten by tabloids or whatsoever. she is a strong woman and she has all she could ever wish for.
but i agree, the tabloids feed all the hate between the fans, thats sad. i refuse to let myself be sucked into this nonsense and i think all fans should do so. never the less placing blame on Jen for Angies oscar loss is very immature thinking and i was disapointed to find such things on here.
