M.R.A. Realties Inc. is suing Mischa Barton for refusal to pay rent on her $7,000-a-month apartment in New York City, according to ABC News.
The landlord is alleging in a suit that the last three month’s worth of rent haven’t been paid and is wanting the rent and legal fees.
According to the lawsuit, Mischa’s one-year lease on the Manhattan apartment started in September, during the time when Mischa was planning to live in NYC to film the TV show The Beautiful Life. But The CW canceled the show after two episodes.
Shortly after, Mischa returned back home to Los Angeles.
I’m wondering if Mischa tried to get out of the lease because of the show ending and was told she couldn’t.
For some reason this story is making big waves today on the news wires. It seems so menial and is more than likely a misunderstanding. I also question the timing — when Mischa is in NYC to film a guest star role on Law & Order: SVU.
