Open Mic/Discussion Thread for Medium 6x11 - An Everlasting Love

It seems as though it’s been forever, but since Medium is actually new tonight, we’re having an Open Mic to go along with it. This week, there’s another serial killer loose in Phoenix, but the police’s main suspect may not be the one truly responsible for the crimes.

As always, the Open Mic begins at 9:00 PM EST. We’d love for you to join us, but if you can’t feel free to use the comment section of this post to discuss the episode; it should be a good one!

Excellent episode! Best of the season. The writers and actors were all at the top of their game for this one. Loved the story and the humor!

Well, I thought the opening dream sequence was one of the best ever. Very gripping, almost movie-like. It probably won’t be on my list of top five favorites, but I liked the episode and thought it was pretty strong. I thought that the dead guy and moon-faced girlfriend were extremely creepy, especially his smile. And they gave Joe funny lines! I had no idea he could be funny. I think I like him better as comic relief than as his usually serio-agitated self.

Next week’s ep looks good. Poor Devalos–he and Scanlon seem to be vying for who can stack up the most dead family members. I think Scanlon’s winning, but I’m sure Manny will give it his best … On a related note, can’t wait for the ep next month with Scanlon’s brother!

I agree this was one of the strongest episodes. The opening scene was definitely very gripping with the girl on the phone. I enjoyed when the ghost would talk to Allison and had her dream of him and his fiance- very good. Reminded me of “Ghost” with Whoopi Goldberg that he wanted to talk to his girlfriend thru Allison. Loved Allison’s reaction since she felt responsible for him dying. Loved the scene at the end where the two Ghosts were fighting. Really good strong episode. I even enjoyed Joes work in this episode (usually I find it boring) but it was funny this time with him reading the boring novel, then when his boss called him diffuse in his evaluation. Very funny. I also enjoy Joe as comic relief. So far my favorite of this season. I hope they keep coming with episodes like this one.
I also look foward to Scanlon’s brother coming next month. Love Scanlon. Next week looks like it is heavy on Devolis which is good. We haven’t seen much of him this season but I think he has been working on other stuff.

Such an excellent episode as usual! I really loved the opening dream and how much longer it was then usual. I liked how it was a couple that killed people and at the end when they were arguing for eternity. Also, Medium has never shown the death penalty, so I liked how they went down to that.

Joe was soo funny when he was playing the ’serious’ game with his supervisor. LOL!
    Look forward to next weeks

Wow..I loved this episode. Gina I totally agree with you. This was just a fun episode to watch. Great writing. It reminded me of a few things we have seen before, like being hit by a car while running from Scanlon, but yet presented differently. It was fun to see Allison courting the girl for the serial killer–haven’t seen anything like that before.

Like that, the season is half over…or is half full. I’m looking forward to the Lee’s Brother/Allison mugging episode too, I can’t help but read all the spoiler sites (wish I could quit doing that)

Wow, that was a REALLY well written episode! Joe has become so funny that I am actually laughing out loud during the show. I never thought I would do that during Medium. lol Next week’s looks very interesting. In the final scene of the promo when Devalos pulls that girl out of that car, they mentioned his daughter died in a car in season 3 and considering the episode is called Dear Dad… there could be a connection.

WOW! That was a really really GREAT episode. The opening scene was intense with the phone call and poor dog.It Definitely captured attention. This episode kept you thinking, first thinking the guy did it, then maybe not ,maybe he is a nice ghost, then he did it again.

I also liked Allison courting his girlfriend. That was cute, he made her dream about them with the music in happy times to make her feel guilty for her connection in his death.
I was laughing at Allison when she was at the door, telling her don’t forget about checking the hat box.

Joe’s boss is too funny. I just knew he was going to write diffuse in that report. At least if they have to show Joe at work they make it funny. I really enjoy Joe as funny. Even with his comments to Allison about the ghost not wanting to admit to being a serial killer when he didn’t show up for a while to help.

It was also nice that Scanlon just took Allison’s word about this guy. They really didn’t question her judgement or dream this time.

The ending couldn’t be any better with the couple meeting up after death and then arguing eternally.

This was a really impressive well written episode.

Excellent episode! I watched with my friends last night and even the guys(Our husbands) who usually hang out in the other room ,stayed and watched with us after they caught the opening scene. The dead dog, the woman in the closet, the voice on the phone. The guys were even yelling for her to hang up the phone and get out of there.
Just an all around enjoyable episode, the crime drama story with the ghost serial killer was excellent. I did figure out it was the girlfriend when she first came down the steps, The victim Gretchen asked her for help like she was talking to a woman and the platform heel shoes gave me a clue it was her, but my friends didn’t really figure it out until I told them. Some of the guys said they knew it was her . There weren’t really any other suspects.
Joes work storyline was very funny. We were laughing out loud.
We also enjoyed all of Allison’s scenes with the ghost.
The way they ended it with the death penalty and the ghosts fighting was just genius.
This was one of the best Mediums ever in my opinion. I liked everything about it.
I hope they keep up this streak because to be honest I was bored by some of the earlier episodes of this season. I am so glad to see that Medium has still got it.

I really enjoyed this episode. The opening was really creepy, especially the dead dog and I jumped when the killer pounced and grabbed her!

Like Dawn, I couldn’t help think of the recapitator episodes, when the girlfriend’s involvement was revealed.

Lovely to see Scanlon totally believing Allison without any questioning.

I’m loving Joe more than ever this season, the line about the “serial killer rule book” cracked me up. And the office and arcade scene was great.

Even though the Dubois daughters were only in one scene, I laughed that their powers of persuasion (and the thought of what Allison might think) got Joe to change!

I assumed the death penalty scene was a future vision of what would happen to Mandy. I mean, even if Mandy was easily accepting of her punishment because she wanted to be with Jeremy, these things take a long while.

I really didn’t like this episode. The story was very bland and yet another serial killer comes to Phoenix. The ending was predictable and in some ways rediculous as women are statistically not likely to commit these types of offence, especially on their own. Women are more likely to keep a distance from their victims with poision, hit and run, not capturing them in the basement.

Really the episode for me was bland. There wasnt enough in it. If the episode was spread over two episodes in which we saw the development of the case and a few more victims being taken by the ‘penny drop killer’ then I think it would have made for a much more interesting story. I just hope for now atleast we go down another route for the rest of the season, after all there are other crimes Allison could solve.

Nansee, I thought I was the only one who loved to read the spoiler sites, lol! That episode with Lee’s brother and Allison getting mugged does sound like a good one. I’m looking forward to that one too.

I don’t mind reading the spoilers. What episode is it where Alison gets mugged? I’ve only seen the press release for 6:13, which is labelled as 6.12, on spoilertv.com. Which site did you find the spoilers on Alison and Scanlon? I wouldn’t mind checking it out.

m3Cube, spoilertv is the site where I read about it–if you scroll down their Medium page, they have scoops on other eps, including the mugging/brother one (6.15, “How to Beat a Bad Guy.)

I can’t believe Allison is going to get mugged, I wonder what else the writers will inflict on her! I’m interested to see who they cast Scanlon’s brother,

Thanks nansee. Took a bit but I finally found the page you mentioned. I usually get to spoilertv via the link to the next Medium episode on spoilersnews.com. The spoilertv page that’s loaded only shows the spoilers for the selected episode and the previous one(s).
