Opportunity Knocks to start Sept. 23 on ABC

ashton_kutcher_executive_producer_nc.jpgSo how well do you know your family?

A new one-hour game show on on ABC, Opportunity Knocks from executive producer Ashton Kutcher, will test that knowledge when the game show shows up on a family’s front door giving them the opportunity to have a game night where they can win money and prizes that could change their lives.

Opportunity Knocks will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 23 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

In the first episode, the Gutierrez family from Torrance, California will see how well they know each other in front of their family and friends. Walter and Patty Gutierrez and their two children, Lucas, 13, and Alexis, 12, are asked trivia questions based on their lives, each other and articles in and around their home. If they prove that they know their family inside and out they could win flat-screen TVs, kitchen appliances, concert tickets, a car or even scholarship money for their children. The family also will be given interactive challenges where the TV camera is taken directly into their home.

Walter is an aerospace engineer who collects toy cars and dreams of having a 1969 Camaro. Patty is a Spanish teacher. Lucas is the ham of the family who enjoys playing the electric guitar and idolizes rock stars. Alexis is cheerleader and obsessed with the Jonas Brothers.

The clock will be ticking as the family faces a range of tests from Lucas naming the cheerleading move that Alexis practices, to Patty remembering the grade her son was in a photo she passes by everyday, to Walter discovering which gift to his wife was her least favorite — the 1980s style dress, the electric blanket, a leather jacket or the jellybean print pajamas?

Each week, host and executive producer JD Roth will knock on a pre-screened family’s door for the impromptu game night when the mobile “Opportunity Knocks” team will set shop up on the family’s front lawn, where the audience is made up of neighbors and friends to cheer the family on.

I am so dissappointed that the show was cancelled. I thought it brought families together. Not any family TV show on for all to watch together. My little one said to his sister, what are you favorite shoes, just incase they come knocking at our door.

How cute! It is a shame that the family TV game couldn’t make it.
