Oprah Winfrey’s new primetime show Oprah’s Big Give premieres on March 2, 2008 and she’s going to have plenty of celebrities helping her out. So far, stars like Jennifer Aniston, John Travolta, Natalie Cole, Donald Trump and Jada Pinkett-Smith are slated to appear on the reality show “that follows 10 people as they travel around the country to give away money and help others without knowledge of any personal reward.” Guest stars include athletes Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Tony Hawk and Danica Patrick.
The Oprah Winfrey Show and O, The Oprah Magazine contributor Nate Berkus will be hosting the show. “Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a show whose entire premise is what you can do for other people? I think it’s fantastic,” Berkus says.
A panel of judges will determine who, of the 10 contestants, is the biggest giver (the judges are chef Jamie Oliver, NFL star Tony Gonzalez and philanthropist Malaak Compton-Rock).

That sounds good and all, but there will be plenty of people who will try and take advantage of what your trying to do. All I can say is good luck in that your doing. I think that your a huge inspiration to people already.
Oprah may have been born at night BUT not last night.
Her people will interview and cross-examine people. Many so-called con-artists will be flushed out of the competition.
Come on, Oprah is not a naive 15 year old. She has built over 60 schools, built an empire and started people on new, better paths.
The Oprah-nation is not going to let “crooks” ruin the show. Really.

i feel embarassed to be writing, but also desperate.my husband about a year ago was diagnosed with vascular alzheimers he is only 54 yrs old. he has had several mini strokes, and will continue to have his mind as well as his physical condition to become worse. we have been devastated financially as he is unable to work any longer. we have applied for social security disability, but as we are finding out that is a long process. we will probably lose our home soon as ive tried to keep everthing going, but without the added income of the disability i just cant quite make it. i know that the show as well as oprah herself must get so many requests for help that it is overwhelming the amount of people who need help, and i realize that its impossible to help everyone. i also realize their are alot of people whose situations are alot worse than mine. i just feel overwhelmed that im losing my husband and my house too. the show is wonderful, and i know oprah is a person just like everyone else, but i feel she truly is one of gods angels here on earth. i fell it really helps people to see such good when there is so much sadness in the world. thank you for allowing me to leave this comment.
I was writing to see if by chance you are going to have another event like this soon…I am in need of some major help and don’t know where to turn. I am 23 yrs old…I have a 3 yr old son and a baby due is August…I am currently not working and nobody around my town is willing to hire when they find out that I am 4 months pregnant. My fiancee just started a new job and is only making minium wage…we live in a small trailer and have no room for a new baby…My fiancee is in the army and is going to deploy over seas in August and I am going to be stuck doing all this on my own with no money and a trailer that is too small for one kid let alone 2…We tried to get approved for a loan but due to our credit scores we both got denied…nobody in either of our families are willing to help or cosign a loan and we need to get a bigger place…we would rent something bigger but we just don’t have the money…all the places around here are around 600.00 or more a month and we can barely afford the 300.00 a month we pay now for the trailer. If we don’t find some help somewhere we are going to have to give the baby up for adoption and we really don’t want to do that…can you please help us!!!

Oprah Julie’s life is confined to wheelchair and hospital; a pool would do wonders for her.
I believe it would give my precious daughter more determined to relearn how to walk again.

hi oprah, um duno if i shud have said this but… am 20 originally from zambia but in perth australia. en 24 is my older sister en 18 my young brother en 13 my young sister. its been 1 and half months since mum died in a car accident at flinders morley drive intersection. mum was really a great woman… she held us together, she loved us so much that she sacrificed to leave zambia about 4-5 years ago when our dad died from stroke just to make a better life for her children. The following year after she had left zambia to australia my older sister followed in after her hard works en efforts. she was on a student visa wen she did all that including me following up 2years later. she later went to sydney to do nursing and she completed her nursing with a degree while me en ma sis were in perth en my young brother en sister still in zambia by then. in january this year she later found a job with a hospital called fremantle in perth, who were willing to sponsor her with a 457 visa which is a work visa en two children included en thats how her dreams came true so she decided to come back to perth. they only got here three months ago en mum had to die. even as i am writting this tears won’t stop running down my cheeks, i taste the bitterness of my tears. mum looked after her three other sisters in zambia and her mum who are still here at the moment (after funeral). immigration have decided that my young brother and sister hav to go back to zambia because they were under mum’s visa. if mum knew what is happenning she would wake up from the dead. Oprah just hoping there is something you could do for this poor family.
There are so few celebs that truly help. I am 56 yrs. old, had a good job for almost 10 years – my mother became ill with lung cancer – so I was her only caretaker – my father had died 5 yrs. prior to same disease, I am only child. Since my moms passing in late 2006 I have not been able to find work, guess due to age. I have a $125,000.00 mortgage – and now I am desperate with 2500.00 in the bank for this months bills and then that is it. I am not asking for handout but need some help. Cannot get loan due to no job but have never been late on mortgage. Please advise how I can get some help. Its great how the very unfortunate are helped daily – but I want to work and pay my bills

Im one of ur millions fan. I just want you to know that i meet my father last February 21, 2008. After 34 years. All I know he is dead, as what I have read in my adoption letter, I never thought he is alive, even in a single minute. We meet in Davao City, Philippines. I found him less than two hours with the help of DSWD staff. (DSWD – caring less fortunate children, from 1 to 7 yrs old. ) childrens need is only food. I hope you will help these children. I am not sure if you get these messages or not but thought I would try and see. My dad died at the age of 59 very unexpectadly. My mom now has a house payment and other utilities to pay and cannot afford them. Her mortgage is 1400.00 a month and that is all she makes a month. I hate the fact that she lost her husband after 40 years of marriage and now she is going to lose her house. She tried to work with the mortgage company but they said there is nothing they can do for her. She is already not able to handle the death of my dad and now she is being burden with losing the house that they shared together. Any help or advice would be appreciated. She loves your show but can only catch it on her days off. thank you

I wrote you a letter about my breast cancer, then12-24 i went to the hospital to have stents put in my leg .Thry say I have to have surgery because they are closeing up.Ihad my left leg done and it is also stopped up ,they have to put a plastic tube in. Then in a mouth I have to have the other done.Im not asking for a lot but I don;t have enough sick days at work to cover me.That means when I run out of sick days then my ensurance will stop. Will you do another show like “The Big Give”? If so, would you please consider me and my family. I am in debt with normal everyday bills that have compiled into an everyday nightmare. dear operah, for a month and a half now my worlds been turned upsidedown.
we had our 4th baby in may he,s such alittle trooper. he has a heart condition called Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. ive lost my job and my wife and i have been sleeping in our car. it will several more months befor we can take him home and its tearing me apart being away from my other kids. im a grown man and ive been sobbing more than any baby, im at my witts end. i dont even feel like a man anymore. well anyway is there anyway you can help by putting awareness for defects like his. he weighs only 3llbs and hes a month1/2 now hes already had open heart surgery, and will need 2 more before a transplant. and i ask for you to prey for us so that maybe someday our family can be together. my 3 other kids have been through hell and they deserve better than this please help us with this night mare before my home forcloses and all of us are living in the car. god bless
