Yesterday’s season premiere of Oprah was amazing! Watching her up on the stage announcing the different sports as the athletes made their way through the crowd (giving hi-fives along the way) was a great way to kick off the new season. Naturally, Michael Phelps (and his mom Debbie, of course) were the main focus for the first little bit but then she did her best to recognize the other major stars of the Games (for a full list of the athletes, click here).
One part that surprised me was when Kobe Bryant, who was a member of the gold-winning men’s basketball team, said that he was super famous in China. The attention shocked him (they showed footage and it truly was crazy!) and his teammates had a good laugh about it.
Dara Torres also revealed that she thinks she wants to keep competing a little longer which is outstanding. As you may know, Torres not only qualified for the Games at 41 years of age but she also took home the silver medal. If she’s not an inspiration, I don’t know who is!
They also managed to plug Chicago’s bid to become the 2016 Olympic host city a few times. I never really thought about it but imagine if they did win the bid? I am SURE they would have Oprah do something spectacular!

Can you believe that they showed a tennis match during the premiere of Oprah where I live? They had a note at the bottom of the screen that said that Oprah would be re-televised at 12:35 a.m. Nice!
I was SO mad.
