Padma Lakshmi Will Not Be Leaving Top Chef

FNP_EW_0004226.jpg

Well, this is excellent news: Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi, who recently announced a development deal for her own sitcom with NBC, will not be leaving the beloved competitive cooking show and will only have a supporting role.

She tells TV Guide magazine: “I want to do what’s best for the show. That means getting the best actress for the job, and that may not be me for that particular role.” Besides being the host of Top Chef, Padma also has her own jewelry line and is the author of several cookbooks

While Padma may not bring a lot to the show besides her looks to some viewers, she belongs on the show and she’s part of the formula which is what gives it its staying power. And who’s going to replace her, the wooden Kelly Choi? Or the bland Katie Lee Joel, who hosted Season 1? The show hasn’t undergone many changes since its inception and they’d do best to stick with what works, which judging from the show’s Emmy nominations, is working rather well.

To celebrate Padma’s stay on Top Chef, here are videos of her on Star Trek via Eat Me Daily.

    “Wooden Kelly Choi?”

I like Padma but Choi is twice the host that Padma is.

If Choi replaced Lakshmi Top Chef would be even more watchable.

Plus any of the critics on Masters over Toby.

Toby Young is coming back? UGHHHHHHH. His attempts at funny are so horrifically painful. Bourdain on his worst day is 1 million times more tolerable than young.

Please Kelly Choi was the non-host. The show went on as if she wasn’t around.

She was more bothersome than anything else. I didn’t like that she mainly came in with evening gowns and wasn’t even a fundamental part of the quick fires.

Boring is the only way to describe her. Pedantic is the way to describe her looks.

Ratings were much lower than Top Chef and that sums up what the general public thought of her…an after-thought.

Excellent news?!??!!? I don’t get it. I don’t get it AT ALL. Padma is gross and completely and totally unappealing — normally. Pregnant she is even more gross. Bangs and she is ridiculous.

I have no respect for her at all. What is her background? She does not have a culinary degree. I never trust or believe anything she says and don’t believe she is representing things well because she has no clue. She is not a great actress or host. She is not that attractive. I was actually hoping that the pregnancy would be Bravo’s out. It has been reported that she is just a bitch to the chefs. Why do we support her and keep on an otherwise GREAT show?

DO NOT LIKE Padma. Get rid of her. Yuck.

Oh, agreed on any of the critics on Masters over Toby. I’m surprised he was invited back!

I was so surprised by that, too! Didn’t it always seem like Tom hated him?
