While there are many bad things about the WGA strike, there is one nice thing. We get to see a picture of Jake Weber. It is really a rare thing to find.

Patricia Arquette and Jake Weber Join Their Writers

Katelyn, where did you find those last couple of pictures? I haven’t seen them before. The first one is very similar to the one that I pointed out, but it’s a little bigger. But I hadn’t seen the one of Patricia & Jake with the writers. It’s nice to see more of the actors supporting the writers.
I wonder if this means that Medium has shut down production. I haven’t heard anything about that. I did read today that CBS Paramount (which owns Medium) sent letters to its showrunners who were honoring the strike that their pay would be suspended if they didn’t return to their exec producing duties. I haven’t heard if GGC was one of the ones who was honoring the strike or not. Maybe since some of the writers of Medium were not honoring the strike, that means that production will contniue and the season will go on as planned. There’s already talk that some mid-season shows will be postponed, like Lost (which wouldn’t hurt my feelings) and 24 has already been put on hold, as has the proposed Heroes spinoff. Hope this doesn’t affect Medium’s premiere in January or the rest of its season. I just hope that this strike doesn’t last as long as the last one. That one lasted nearly five months, for those who don’t remember it.
I just noticed something about that picture, Katelyn. I think all, or some, of those are Medium writers. I recognize at least two of them from the Medium dvds and the clips on NBC. The second from the left in the back is the one who wrote the incredible “One Behind the Wheel” episode. And I think the one in the front center is Jessica Kender, though I’m not sure about that one. I wonder if all of these are Medium writers, and how many are left working (if any).
Never mind, Katelyn. I just saw the “source” link at the bottom of the post. Duh!
Dawn,
Yes, they are the Medium writers. I haven’t heard if anyone is still writing, but this is a pretty big group, so I doubt it.
Katelyn, didn’t we read somewhere a few days ago that some of the Medium writers were crossing the picket line. I think I remember reading that somewhere, but I don’t remember where. Anyway, I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed, but Medium has a TON of co-producers (which I think is a euphemism for writer) so maybe all of them aren’t striking. I hope not. I would hate to think of production being shut down completely until this thing is resolved.
Dawn,
I hope not, too. I’d love to see the full season of Medium on schedule.
I hope as well that the strike is short; my job will come to a screeching halt in two weeks. But since they are so very much entitled to their fair share, I really hope they get what they want/need. The last “resolution” to the writer’s strike really screwed those folks. Whatever the outcome is, it really sets a precedence for the upcoming negotiations for the actors and directors. Fingers crossed it all gets worked out; those of us further down the food chain who don’t make NEARLY the salary of producers/actors/writers etc. are set to lose so much more than just future royalties and the like. We lose jobs now and feel the hurt now and for a very long time to come. Los Angeles is about to have a freakin’ lot of people out of work and on the dole. There’s very little here for us to do if the entertainment biz is our bread and butter and the bakery is closed!
Sorry to hear that, Rachel. It sucks for the fans, but it’s really bad for the people who work in the industry who aren’t in the guilds and who are suffering because of this. I hope this works out well for all of you.
Hey MD folks,
I like seeing the actors supporting the writers. My oldest is in college studying film production. It’s good to know that the community does have stand outs like Patricia, Jake and others.
And by the way… Jake looks relaxed and handsome as ever.
Rachel, I hope that it gets resolved quickly as well. It should be apparent to everyone that set workers like yourself are bound to endure hardships if jobs are lost due to the strike. The cause is commendable, but people have to eat and pay bills at the end of the day.
hey to the question about not showing or being short, the got 11 to 12 eps of pretty much all the one hours dramas being shown by the big 5 according to latimes.com
Plus only few have at this point stop shooting and Medium ain’t one,
Lets face it the reason Medium ain’t being shown to Jan so they had something to show then
