Patricia Arquette Is Knitting Away

Countdown for Barack Obama Event - Los Angeles, CA

If you love to knit or crochet, you may want to join Patricia Arquette in a campaign to save little lives with a warm and cozy baby cap. Knit One, Save One is a part of Save the Children and was designed to get baby caps to infants in third world countries in an attempt to drastically lower the infant mortality rate in those places.

Even if you don’t knit, you’ll want to check out the site, because you can play a matching game to discover which cap Patricia Arquette designed. (If you’ve seen her designs for other charity items, you should be able to pick her cap on your first try. She has a very quirky and fun style.)

I can’t knit or crochet without leaving big gaping holes in anything. Hmmm. Maybe I can find someone who can knit to partner up with me. I’ll provide five skeins of purple yarn and they can turn it into baby caps. (I optimistically thought I could learn to knit a simple purple throw for a Baltimore Ravens fan, hence the purple yarn.)

My kids, and many of our friends, make these caps all the time. You just buy one of those circles with knobs spaced around one side–I forget what they’re called–you can buy them in any craft store. You just wrap the yarn around and around in a certain way (you can tell I’m not crafty myself, right? :-) ), and you can make knit caps really easy. The circles come in different sizes so you can make infant size up to adult size, I think. Easy way to contribute even when you can’t knit or crochet. They look just as good!

    Teri,
Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to check it out.
