Patricia Arquette Nominated for a Saturn

No, not an American-made car that you cannot haggle over price for, silly. A Saturn Award for Best Actress in a Television Series.

The award comes from The Academy of Science Fiction Fantasy and Horror Films, which started as The Count Dracula Society (I kid you not) but got their big break in 1978 due to the popularity of Star Wars and the newfound respect it brought to the genre of Science Fiction. (I had no idea unknown awards shows need a “big break” just like unknown actors do. Go figure.)

The 33rd Annual Saturn Awards show will be held Thursday, May 10th in Universal City. No word yet if it will be televised. Likely not, or I am sure they would have announced it in giant letters on the website.

Good luck to Patricia Arquette!

    Lots of luck to Patricia!!!

OK, I love Kyra Sedgwick in “The Closer” and think that is a great show, but how does it qualify for this award? It’s not Sci Fi or Horror, or Fantasy (sort of fantasy, but aren’t all TV shows a fantasy of sorts?).

I am a tad suspicious of this award. One of the other pages on the website still had last year’s date for the show (May 2) and a heading for the 32nd Annual blah blah blah (this year is the 33rd.)

And it isn’t on The Envelope’s list of awards shows. Methink it don’t get no respect.
