ABC dropped its latest press release on the virtual table yesterday, revealing that in the next episode of Grey’s Anatomy Derek calls it quits. Some people took this to mean that Patrick Dempsey himself is exiting the show.
Everyone relax … and put down those scalpels. Patrick Dempsey isn’t going anywhere. You know why? Because the day Patrick Dempsey calls it quits for real, the show ends with him. Well, that’s my take anyway.
Regardless of how I feel about it, though, there are no (zero, nada, zippo) rumors about Dempsey wanting to leave the show any time soon. In fact, Kristin at E! Online’s sources confirm that he is “definitely not leaving the show.” And also that he “doesn’t want to leave, and they wouldn’t let him go anyway.”

Breathe. It’s going to be all right.

I would still be there if Mer or Der left, can’t stand the two of them together or her by herself! I would be gone if Bailey, the Chief, Izzie, George, or pretty much any of the others left. I love McSteamy way more than McDreamy!

I have to agree with pippi on that one… Derek has the sort of strength of character ot bring out the depth of every character he works with. That’s special, and it’s what makes Grey’s Anatomy so special!
i would be so mad and sad if he left greys anatomy. it just wouldnt be the same without him. im so glad it is a rumor.
OK, im breathing now……..thanks…..Lets count how many patiens he treated and saved???All the patients that came to him WERE SICK….could have died if he hadnt helped them….so lets not count how many he killed, he didnt kill any…he saved many….n dont forget Beth the girl in clinical trial….she would have died, but Der saved him……….i love him sooooooooooooo much….hes soooooo sweet……..n if there is no MER DER, then ill quit GA for good……….

1 person greys could not live without…Meredith. Now don’t get me wrong I love love love McDreamy but with good writing we could have people come and go. Look at ER. However without Meredith GREY, there wouldn’t me a GREY’S anatomy. And please do not say what about Lexie Grey because that is a whole ‘nother topic.
This show would not be the same without Mer or McDreamy. They are the ones you first caught our eyes in the Beginning. They are the ones I look forward seeing when I sit on the edge of my bed every Thursday night at 9pm. They have the perfect relationship. And he should not leave the hospital, because he is a great doctor, and what is the show with out episodes without sex in the call room lol. I hope he decides not to leave the hospital. I love this show. I hope they get married.
grey’s anatomy lives because of the heart-pumping love story of meredith and derek. it’s the show’s foundation and without either of them in the show, there would be nothing more to anticipate. everyone can leave, just not meredith or derek.
i wouldn’t watch without mcdreamy. the shows is all about mer and ders relationship, so no derek than no show. plus he is soooo hot.
omg this really scared me wen i heard this rumor! i live too much of my life in a fantasy world! i love greys anatomy nd the show would be rubbish without the mcdreamy character! im very sad to hear TR Knight is leaving and cant imagine the show without him i do hope that they bring georges character back with a different face..
There would be no point in watching the show if McDreamy wasnt in it… *will never watch another episode if he isnt in it*
I would be quite sad if he left. I love watching mer and der together they really mak the show, an as they had their ups an downs I was on the edge of my seat hoping they would get it back on. Of course the show would go on but it would never be the same, an I don’t think I would be interested in it
i really like patrick dempsey , he looks his age but he’s still fit
. i didn’t start watching grey’s anatomy because he was in it though because i didn’t know. i would still watch it if Patrick left though because i like the other characters too. my favourite character is definitely Bailey because she makes me laugh and also Lexie Grey, i like too 
thank god the show wouldnt be any good without mcdreamy he is one of the best character and without him no merideth so the show would go no where without him and he is really really hot i would stop watching if he wasnt in it any way
I love this guy and he really should’nt leave the show at all. He’s a great actor and I love this guy. I know, here quite soon,I will meet this guy and to shake hands and give him alittle kiss on the cheek. He’s not just Mr. MeDreamy, his my Dreamboat. Him and I have a great compatibily, 94 percent. Him and I almost have the same feelings and insets of life. I really do love this guy. Gregory Harrison and I have the same compatibilty, 94 percent. I’m moving to California and to meet this, hunk. He’s one heck of a guy and a very good,looking guy. He’s five years younger than me , but what does the age have to do with it. I just love the guy. I know that him and I, would do great in a movie or even on Grey’s Anatomy.I’m going to be a screen writer,like George Clooney. I’d love to meet him too, but Patrick, is my first guy to meet. You just hang in there Patrick.I’m coming to California this year, to meet you and maybe, one little cele dating. Love ya Patick.

I can’t take my eyes off of Patrick Dempsey. He’s my baby. He’s just soooooooo, good looking.
I think the show will go downhill without Patrick Demsey.
Patrick and Meredith are the two that really make the show and in my opinion it would lose all the meaning after all the trials they went through. I realize it’s just a show but the charactures in it are what make it and by removing him the show will lose. There is a connection between them (even if it is acting) that is made to be to be very real life and that makes the show.
HELL YES I WOULD STOP WATCHING! HE IS THE MAIN REASON, along with Bailey… that I love the show!
Well I love so many of the characters on Grey’s and losing them would take time to get over for example George leaving, however when I think about it honestly I would have a difficult time tuning in if McDreamy were gone from the show. Grey’s is such a collaborated effort that even Izzy not being on has been difficult. The on screen team is an absolutely amazing one and I for one would hate to lose anyone so hopefully season 6 will be so grand that it will excite me to watch season 7….
If McDreamy left, that would be the end of Grey’s for me. Pretty much anyone else could leave and I’d be fine with that, but he holds it all together, not to mention a great dose of weekly eye candy!
I would TOTALLY give up on Grey’s if Patrick Dempsey or Ellen Pompeo leave the show.
