PETA has found a new celebrity to attack: Victoria Beckham. The animal activist organization has jumped on Victoria after it was revealed the Hermes now farms crocodiles in order to keep up with the demand for their luxury crocodile skin handbags. Victoria is an avid collector of the brand, and is rumored to have over 100 of their bags and her collection is worth over $2 million.
PETA is confident that Victoria will see their side of this case, as Victoria doesn’t wear fur.
‘We will send Victoria Beckham, a compassionate person who won’t wear fur, our undercover footage that shows how alligators and crocodiles are beaten to death and how snakes are nailed to trees and skinned alive for these products,” the organization said in a statement to the Daily Mail. “If Hermes really wants to be a leader in the fashion industry, it should stop killing animals for cold-blooded vanity and use cruelty-free mock croc and fake snake instead.”
The CEO of Hermes, Patrick Thomas, admitted it takes 3 or 4 crocodiles to make a single handbag and that Hermes produces over 3,000 crocodile skin handbags per year.
The Daily Mail article has a lot more information about crocodile farming and how that industry works. It’s as fascinating as it is appalling. It will be interesting to see if PETA’s campaign has any effect on Victoria. She doesn’t wear real fur, but she does wear leather. Where do you think she’ll draw the line?

I’m not an avid fan of huge handbags nor Ms Beckham, but the crocs are NOT beaten to death nor the snakes nailed to trees to skin alive. More of PETA lies.
