I tell you, the man is a charmer. Such class! I can see why Kate stayed with him for so long (sarcasm).
Besotted Pete Doherty opens his heart today about his tortured love for Kate Moss which has driven him to utter despair.
In one breath the junkie rocker calls the 33-year-old supermodel a vile-tempered “nasty old rag” who frequently lashed out at him and “kicked me in the head”.
In the next, he passionately declares: “I love her with all my heart. I like the way she walks and talks. I love her bones. I love her brain.”

And he claims that despite their split earlier this month she phoned him two days ago drunkenly singing the sentimental classic, Moon River.
It has left Doherty, 28, in a turmoil of confused emotions. Now today, in an extraordinary attempt to win back Kate’s heart he uses the Mirror – her favourite paper – as a cupid to send her a message of love.
The gaunt Babyshambles star, who insists he is beating his heroin habit, said: “Kate has broken my heart.
“There’s been this lockdown and I can’t get hold of her. This is the only way I can get through.
“I need her to know that she’s out of her f***ing mind. Kate, if you love me then realise I don’t want any other girl.
“Do I still love her? Don’t ask me that question. Why do you think I’m here today talking to you? I’m here to tell her that I love her.
“F***ing hell man, why does she read the Daily Mirror, anyway? She moans all the time about the f***ing paparazzi then first thing in the morning she’s got to buy your paper.”
Doherty’s bizarre on-off relationship with Kate began in January 2005 when he performed with The Libertines at her 31st birthday party at her mansion in the Cotswolds.
Soon after they met, he accepted a proposal of marriage from her.
Doherty said: “It was love at first meet. When I met her she said she’d get a P tattoo, and I’d get a K. Soon afterwards she said ‘I’m not fickle, I’ll marry you’. I f***ed that up, didn’t I?”
Then all hell broke loose when Kate suspected Doherty of cheating on her with a groupie.
Doherty spluttered: “Kate – a nasty old rag. We fell out for the same old reason. She accused me of f****** this girl who lives around the corner.
“We were watching a DVD together and Kate started going ‘I could tell by the way you were sitting back there that you’ve f****d her’. I said ‘You’re out of your f****** mind’.
“I was really up for some peace and love that morning. I wasn’t up for being called a c*** and being kicked in the head.
“She’s got an awful temper. I grabbed a guitar and books and said ‘I’m never going to be treated this way again’.”
Doherty claimed that when he spent time with his female friends and groupies, Kate was always paranoid that he was having an affair. Yet, he said, he was driven to anguish by her “continual flirting” with other men.
Fuel was added to Kate’s jealous fire when she suspected him of sleeping with another model.
Tempers flared and at the start of this month the catwalk beauty vowed their affair was finally over, threw Doherty out of her North London home and changed the locks.
Incredibly, wayward Doherty has since proposed to a stunning Parisian artist named Christine he met on the day Kate dumped him.
He is set to marry her in November. But, in his heart he still yearns for Kate to take him back.
The star candidly admitted: “I made rather a rash gesture. It was more in a fit of anger. I asked this bird Christine to marry me.
“She’s gone back to Paris and I don’t know what to do.”
In a revealing outburst Doherty then poured out his real feelings for the girl he feels he cannot live without, whatever the tensions.
First he joked he is so besotted with Kate “because she’s a multimillionaire”.
He added: “And maybe because of the things she does in bed.”
Then he declared intently: “I love her with all my heart. I wasn’t going to go after a poxy model, let alone some girl I’ve known as a friend for years. Kate is both jealous and suspicious, the same as every woman. But being accused all the time of going with other women takes its toll.
“She can sit on our music producer’s knee in the rehearsal room to wind me up. But as soon as I talk to anyone, it’s an affair.
“Kate is so stubborn. She’ll probably sit this one out.
“Rather than listen to reason and say ‘No, actually you didn’t sleep with that girl, that’s ridiculous’, she decides to have a big old row.
“When she finished it in a blazing row I decided never ever ever am I going to go through that again. I promised myself so many times about it. But I always go back.
“It’s abusive isn’t it? Maybe I’m destined to end up in an abusive relationship, but I don’t want to.”
Speaking at a North London hotel after leaving rehab, he added bleakly: “I can’t properly describe my feelings for Kate they are too strong. It’s why I write songs.”
Despite the end of their relationship, Kate paid £3,000 for the rehab sessions in Harrogate, North Yorks.
And to Doherty’s delight she is still in constant touch with him.
He disclosed: “She rang last night and left a drunken answerphone message, singing Moon River. She’s ripped my heart out. I don’t know what I’m doing.”
Protective Doherty was wary of talking to the Mirror following our 2005 expose of Kate’s cocaine abuse. But he was happy to speak of his own determination to kick drugs.
He said: “They gave me an anti-drugs implant. I was under very, very heavy sedation.
“Then they gave me a sticker warning the emergency services that I shouldn’t be given any morphine.
“All my receptors are now blocked which means I can’t enjoy the recreational use of Class A drugs.
“Inside, I feel a little more chirpy than I have for a long, long time.
“But that’s only because there’s a degree of stability around me that I haven’t had for some time.”
Doherty’s yellow hands riddled with scabs and cuts are a grim legacy of his crack and heroin habit. His half-chewed fingernails are filthy.
Embarrassed at how they look, he admitted: “The drugs have taken their toll. But I’m mending. The implant was only done a day and a half ago and I’m still healing up.
“It’s going to take a couple of weeks for me to clean up. My arms especially. It’s been dark. But I’ve come out of rehab a new man.”
Doherty revealed he booked rehab before being warned by a judge that he must complete the programme or face jail for possessing drugs.
He said: “I had the choice of prison or making some attempt to contain a wilfully dissolute lifestyle. But I was already booked in. It was always just a question of when I did it. I’m on a heavy course of antibiotics and sedatives.
“For a couple of weeks I’m just going to be a bit of a bag of bones. But I’m confident I can clean up.”
Intriguingly, the star suggested he could not stand any of the music he has recorded during his career.
But at last he believes he has come up with songs he can be proud of.
He said: “Everything is different this time post-rehab.
“I’ve never been in a position before where, God strike me down for saying this, I’ve actually made a record I can listen to and get off on.
“I’ve always been a bit weird about listening to my own stuff.
“But there are a couple of co-writes on the new album, a few co-writes with Kate – and it’s a belter.”
Scruffy looking Doherty turned up for our interview wearing a military jacket and his trademark trilby hat.
He admitted not sleeping for days because of treatment side-effects.
More worryingly, he was accompanied by a bunch of excitable friends who Kate wants him to dump.
Referring to one friend, Doherty sheepishly admitted: “Don’t tell her Johnny was here. She’ll do her nut.”
Doherty is being careful not to make too many plans for the future. But he believes he can finally get his life back on track.
With a twinkle in his eye he said: “I’m feeling good and I’m determined I can beat the drugs.
“If I had Kate back then life wouldn’t be so bad, would it?”
>>blank stare<< This is so screwed up I don't even know where to start.
