I think it’s great that Cate Blanchett was there as well, at the game. Seems like both she and BP, after making Benjamin Button, fell in love with NOLA and are doing their part in the rebuilding efforts, whatever that may be. Good for them!
kim- I agree about Pax. When you mentioned sleepovers, that got me thinking….I wonder if the Jolie-Pitt kids ever get to have friends sleep over (well, the oldest ones, anyway. Shiloh and her friends are probably still too young for that, and Zee might still be a bit young for that as well.)? Or if they ever get to sleep over at their friends’ houses?
I’m guessing both might actually be possible when they’re in Springfield or France or other places where they can essentially drop off the radar when they want to. :)
Hey, it would be great if Brad and Spike Lee worked on a movie project together. I imagine it could be quite interesting.
lovely father and son :)
kim – you´re totally right. Soccer isn´t the European version of American football. Sorry for my mistake. Those two are – like you said – totally different sports.
@Kati
Soccer is not the European version of Football, that would be like calling hockey the Canadian version of football. they are completely different sports. And it is as you can see from “Angelina Fan Since 1995″ comments its very offensive to the rest of the world to say that.
@ Angelina Fan Since 1995
I am really offended that you would lump in Canada with the US. I would also like to add that Canada takes a keen interest in Football-Soccer. And the last time I checked Canada has never dictated anything to the rest of the world, it wouldn’t be politically correct. As for the State’s well how is that their fault if you are watching American TV. Don’t watch American TV and you won’t hear football called soccer.
And also just so we are clear about this it wasn’t an American but an Englishman that came up with the word soccer. The term soccer originated in England, first appearing in the 1880s as a slang abbreviation of association football, often credited to former England captain, Charles Wreford-Brown.
Maybe Pax doesn’t like football. It doesn’t always have to be a complicated thing. Or maybe he just didn’t want to go. I know my son would rather have a friend over and hang out then go do something really interesting especially at Pax’s age now that he is 9 going on 10 he is getting better about spending time with his parents doing some thing fun like going to the cn tower, or a hockey game. but between the ages of 5-8 all he wanted to do was play with his friends. I remember once my husband asked him if he wanted to go to a Leafs game with him (he was 7) and my son said but that’s the night my friend is sleeping over. My son is a big time hockey player and loves anything to do with hockey, but even still his friend came first.
I really wouldn’t read to much into it.
am writing comment just to mention how much I agree with and enjoy all your comments; I cannot think what else to add . . . . .
Thanks so much Sherry for these wonderful pictures; my eyes ‘well-up’ looking on the love between Brad and Maddox, the trust Madd has in and for Brad, and so it is with all the Jolie-Pitt children for their wonderful parents. This, we all know, is not something naturally given, but has to be earned, the ‘long hard way’, over time.
I note that often-than-not, Maddox carries a toy around with him when in the ‘public-eye’ in particular, and I think how very sensible this is, since he has something to focus-on during these times he is exposed to such enormous public glare.
There are often times when I wonder where Brad & Angelina get their brilliant child-rearing ideas from- this is not to belittle thier own, for-sure, sensitive psychological awareness. I studied child-development during higher-education, and yet during the time when my own children were growing-up, I wasn’t that aware of how very essential it is for each child to have one-on-one special attention, so that they feel individually ‘recognised’ by their parents.
I just wonder at times whether they do get advice from someone who is highly qualified and acknowledged as such, in child development. Possibly from a ‘published’ source, even?
It all makes such good-sense when you see the tactics used by Brad & Angie to nurture and nourish each of their beautiful children, and yet they must have a clear focus of what-to-do in ‘the event of’ anything occuring that might alarm or upset any of the children. I only had two children and know how confused and badly-equipped I felt at times trying to help them cope with the confusion and distress life’s journey brings. I learnt a lot in retrospect- but see Brad & Angie doing everything ‘perfectly’ the first-time-round!!
Once again, thanks so much everyone for your really interesting and lovely comments. Jxx
Pax just wasn’t up to it. He was tired and slept thru and Daddy couldnt’ and doesn’t want to wake him up.
Can I just say that ‘Soccer’ is NOT ‘a European Verson of American Football’. Soccer or Football as it is known outside North America (hence it’s governing body being called ‘The Fédération Internationale de Football Association ‘(FIFA) ‘Soccer’ has actually been around longer than American Football and American Footballs genealogy comes out of Football by way of Rugby not the other way round!
Football (Soccer) has been around for much longer than ‘American Football’ in fact the Mayans are believed to have played a game very similar to it. Also apart from the goal keeper and when their are ‘throw ins’ the game is played by KICKING the ball unlike American Football where there is alot of running with the ball in the players HANDS. Therefore as it has been around longer and utilises the foot far more than the American Game, Football (Soccer) has more right to the name ‘Football’ than American Football.
This is off topic but I really don’t see why a game played by most of the rest of the world should be described as a version of US Football (when it is the other way round) or the creeping switch to calling the game Soccer not Football which is lead by US sports bodies and commentators. Fair enough if the US and Canada have no interest in FOOTBALL but I don’t think the two countries with the least interest in the game should be allowed to dictate what most of the rest of the world call the sport they love!
BB & joliepittfan – I agree with both of you. I remember reading three years ago that Pax was into soccer (a European version of American football) but maybe he isn´t anymore. Or maybe he just didn´t want to go otherwise. He certainly loved to stay in LA with his mum and younger sisters and little bro Knox. Or maybe he knew that this trip was especially for Mad. I remember seeing that same New Orleans Saints´ jersey on Pax when he went to Dave & Buster´s recently with his dad, Mad, uncle Doug and their cousin. So Mad and Pax must be about same hight since they share the same clothes. God bless the JPs 4ever!
BB- Good point! Maybe Pax isn’t into sports (I know when he was adopted there was talk that he was into soccer, but that was almost three years ago and could have easily changed).
Maybe Pax doesn’t like football and that’s why he wasn’t there.
i love seeing pics of maddox! and of course the other kids too. love angelina jolie’s family soo much!! best wishes to them all :]
Mary Ann – I noticed the same picture and found it very touching. It´s like she´s protecting her big sis. That is so adorable. Those siblings all sure love each other a lot. And I´m sure that both Zee and Shi are very protective of Knox and Viv. Love this family!
It has been a few days since I looked at the pictures of Angie and the girls food shopping, but one of the pictures showed them leaving the store and if you look at Shiloh you will see that she has her left arm out and over holding Zee back. Almost like she has seen the paps outside and she is protecting her sister. That in itself makes me realize that all these children love each other very much no matter their age.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brad taking Shiloh to sporting events in a few years.
